  1. Every receiver except for garcon, has been unproductive. Why?Oh i don't know maybe because number 18 is not here.

The Colts offense under #18 is a delicate machine. These are not extremely physical or speedy receivers but they are very smart. Manning assigns to them the precise routes, and deliver the ball to a small window only the receivers can catch. When Manning is not here, nobody can run this offense and the receivers will need to fight a lot by themselves. Only the receivers with more pure athletecism would shine, which makes Garcon the top guy.

  2. At this point no need to get him back for our standing, and since we are heading into the draft with the #1 pick for Luck if things don't change, Manning had better not be back since he could easily beat the Texans at home when they are starting to rest players for playoff, and beat the Jags who has nothing to play for.

Ironically the team may want to see if Manning has recovered well and let him play. Manning may eventually kick the guy to potentially take his job out of here.

Other teams are competing for the draft pick as well, and Jets fans are talking about losing to the Dolphins intentionally when things are all decided, s.t. they will not need to play Luck twice a year in the next decade.

  3. Actually if Manning plays he would at least keep the opposing offense off the field for longer, and our short passing game should control the clock and reduce the number of possessions by the other team. Our scoring-D may end up in the lower middle of NFL and the team should be as competitive as the Pats and Chargers.

On the other hand, Pats may not be as good as people think they are. It is also a one-man team and the D is not much better than the Colts'. As a result of drafting low in an entire decade, both Pats and Colts franchises are having problem collecting talents, and it is a matter of time for both to come back to the middle or bottom of the league and rebuild from defense and the bottom up.

As a relatively more stable conference, worse AFC teams tend to stay around the middle of each year's ranking, and the good teams don't change. As a result teams don't get higher picks very often and the talent level is going down in recent years. While the NFC teams have more fluctuation, and many teams are congested at the bottom, which in recent years have resulted in a higher level of talents and stronger teams.

  4. Yes it's serious, if you are the HC of a NFL, what would be your expecation/acceptance of your Defenses PPGA? Or how do you know if your defense is good?

Also, of those 8 games this year we have given up 31.5, but what is the average if you throw out the Texans and Saints game?

Useless efforts. Each game we give up at least 23 pts and the NFL median is (Chargers 22.7 + Pats 22.9)/2=22.8.

    We are that bad.

  5. Our first victory will be this weekend. I don't see how we can get beat by the falcons.....they are not that good at all and we are coming around. I think it will be a VERY productive day for the Blue and White.

Man have you been watching other teams? Good wish is good, but anyway it is just wish.

Hope we can stop Michael Turner for a couple of times and contain Tony Gonzalez and Roddy White and Julio Jones, and hope Painter can pick their defense apart and Carter can gain 10 yds each time he runs.... But if we can do these we should have been 8-0, 7-1 or at least 6-2 at the point, right?

  6. To become a great QB one needs to have the skill, the physicality, the will to study, and a lot of things.... But there is one more thing: The QB needs to be lucky - to avoid injury, to have some crucial game situations leaning his way, to have certain teammates helping him - to become great in NFL.

Surely Andrew never lacks "Luck" :P I would like to bet on his brilliant NFL career even if he ends up on other teams.

  7. If the front office is tanking this than why isn't Manning on IR? Here is our best chance to win right? If they want to tank this than why not remove our best chance of picking up a W?

Now at the same time, they are human, and I would have to think like most of us somewhere in their conscious they know they cant make the playoffs so why not then try to be the number one at something?

Not IRing Manning has two reasons:

    1. Having him back at the end of the season and see how well he recovers, s.t. they can decide where to go next year, either draft Andrew Luck or trade the pick for more picks, or other options.

    2. Keeping the loyal fans in the hope of seeing Manning play and sell some tickets.

At this point, it will not matter whether they tank it or not. The season is over and there will be no playoff for Colts.

  8. A few things I would have liked to see: when the Titans were moving down the field for a FG before the half, we had 3 timeouts. It was after the 2 minute warning. I would have liked Caldwell to use 1 timeout when it was 2nd and long. If the Titans converted, yes, it would have given them extra time to get a chance for a TD. But then, if the Titans and the Colts knew the Colts coach is expecting the D to make some stops there, the outcome may have been different. It is a mental thing, IMO.

Then, when we missed two 4th and goal tries at the end, I saw the Titans playing coverage heavily during both series of downs, at least 6 out of the 8 downs we came up empty on, why did we not run more on those 2 series to cut the lead to 27-17 and/or possibly 27-24???

Saw a thread and it said the coaches seemed unaware of the difference between Painter and Manning. But as far as it is so obvious, it might be that they just realized nobody could be Manning and gave up completely.

  9. Of course not, but these people don't see that.

They see only the negatives from the players and coaches we have. If they leave, they see only the positive in the same players and coaches. That allows them to always be right, in hindsight, and they can complain with lots of capital letters about everything.

And people really compare our RBs with a talent like Shady? Come on, not even close...

  10. Unfortunately, that doesn't count.

Good news is, the Phins have shown signs of late, while we seem to be getting farther from our goal of winning, or even competing.

Nice! As far as the season is over at 0-8, we should get some 1st pick in return. This year's #1 pick should have a large value margin than other years', which should give us plenty of flexibility for taking Luck or trade.

But if Manning does come back the last two games, he may easily ruin the entire plan. We may easily win Houston as they are resting for playoff, and blow out the Jags since they are thay bad...

  11. Kinda think they got hurt partly because teams try to push the OL heavily and blitz more since they know Painter will get panic and is not able to take advantage of it. When Manning was here there was too much respect to test our OL's athleticism.

  12. As of now, the Phins would get Luck (heard that this morning). Its done on the strength of schedule. i.e. If the Phins opponents have a better W/L record than the Colts, than the Phins get the tie breaker. If that is a tie, they default to a coin-flip.

Is there anything we can do to help them win a game? :-) We do lose for a larger margin, when will that be counted? :-)

After watching the kid's game on Saturday, I think it will worth to get him. 3 over time and win at USC... The kid does have the skills and he has one thing that Manning may not have - luck...
