This ex-Pats surely will find ways to praise his team and Brady. The number here pretty much told the story, as Painter has had more TDs and yards. Plus the Colts offensive system is lightyears more complex than Pats'. The QB here is asked to do a lot more than just being a QB throwing the ball accurately.
-
Why r the Colts OL hurt more than ever? Why this year not any year before?
My guess people are trying to give more pressure to Painter and his line, thinking he cannot handle it as Manning did. This OL then start to fall apart.
-
Nobody can tell one player is 100% gonna become a HOF or a bust. So far most experts believe it is gonna be a "sure thing", and there has not been such a level of consensus since I don't know when. Peyton entering the draft was receiving more doubt than this kid.
-
My guess, as some have said, they realized he isn't the answer and most likely, due to his age. Playing again after a concussion isn't very smart. Was just a matter of time. Too bad, but at least it isn't our money that paid him.
Dont really think he has a concussion as severe as that he cannot come back and play. They just realized the mistake but they aren't brave enough to admit, so the concussion becomes an excuse.

Toudouze will be waived again at first chance, just like he always is, because being a mediocre O-linemen is an unrealistic goal for him. If it were to make room, someone else would have been given the toudouze treatment and waived, only to be brought back when we didn't nee toudouze. Again. For the 453rd time.
So they are in desperate mode again because the OL has been depleted recently. I agree with you and I am wondering why they don't let Anthony Gonzalez go. He is never healthy and never plays...
-
Maybe they needed the spot for someone else
They needed the spot for OL and they signed two.
It just proved how panic and unprepared they were when hearing Manning could not go.
-
It is spin control and I did read the quote. It contridicts the original quote, so yes, its spin control.
I agree as well. As the idea sounds too crazy from a former coach and Dungy just doesn't want to be hated by his old fans, as far as he realized this he found a way out for himself.

Agreed. The last thing the Colts need to do in the first round is draft a quarterback. They need an elite, shutdown corner...the best cb available in the draft pretty much, somebody who can come in and start right away and make an impact. That should be their top priority, in my humble opinion of course.
I dont think drafting a good CB will solve the problem. You build a team from inside out. The DT position is the source of our problems, and the major reason why this "cover 2" has been the least successful. A great DT bringing presure from the middle and stop the run can make the entire thing look much better, including the CBs.

He surely is not the answer.
seeking for coaches you will never find the answer unless you find one taking the duty of general manager.

Im comparing out 2009 team to our 2011 team not the '06 team.
The '10 team was riddled with so many injuries it would be completely unfair.
the '09 and '11 team had every starter in the skill position outside of Manning.
We had a few different players on the OL and we didn't have Keiaho. The funny thing is we are actually running the ball better and pass blocking quite well this year. Even in the horrid loss last night Painter was only sacked once, and hasn't been sacked all that much considering he doesn't have the awareness of Manning.
That 09 team was not as talented as the one winning the SB in 06. The 09 season benefited from playing NFC west and a division with losing record, and a free-falling Broncos rather than the Chargers, as well as a schedule favoring us.
Even considering this the team we have now is less talented than the 09 team as we have added almost nobody and the skill players have aged.

So, a bunch of unproven college players is the answer? A lot of people on here act like a draft pick automatically translates into a player that will be a consistent producer. That usually isn't the case. The league is full of first round draft picks that don't contribute while guys taken in the fourth round or later blossom into contributors. Manning is a proven commodity, and he is the best in the business. It would be ill-advised to trade away one of the best, if not the best, QB of all-time in order to draft a couple of college linebackers or defensive backs.
Even so, if you want more draft picks, trading away the first pick will get you more draft picks in return than Manning will.
The #1 pick is the #1 for reasons. Peyton Manning was a #1 pick because he was that good. Generally picking at #1 gives you less chance to miss, just like why people are always drafting AP at #1 in fantasy football, it does not mean he will automatically become the top runner every year. He is just reliable and gonna be who people think he is.
I suggest building the team from draft partly because football is a very physical sports. Injury and time wear plays out quickly. No matter how good Peyton Manning is, he has only about 4 yrs left. Of course you can trade your draft picks for proven players, and go build a "dream team" like the Eagles. Hope it works better.
And dont forget every great player was once a rookie, an "unproven college player".

Well what the others are trying to say is if there was alittle more around Manning the team would have more rings. Better O-line or defense perhaps? A coach who can coach on the fly? Not trying so hard to turn every low pick or udfa into the next diamond in the ruff?(yes Indy has had some luck there)
Exactly!
And when you keep doing one thing time and time again there should be some luck.

In the regular season he was great, but come the playoffs it was the defense and run game that got us to that SB and won it. If you doubt that go back and check out the tape.
I rememver Ray Lewis praised Manning for making the incredible throw to Dallas Clark to seal the game at the Ravens. The two teams played a close and ugly game with both defense playing great, while the team having better QB made crucial plays to win.
I remember Manning took us back from a 18 point deficit and beat the Pats, and he did throw for 1 TD and more than 300 yards, which was 100+ yards more than Brady in this big game.
Go figure.

Yeah, Peyton Manning is the last thing the Colts need. Derp.
This thing is like treating cancer. Manning is like a medicine that may get it under control and let the patient live for another couple of years, while to cure the patient there should be a surgery and radiation therapy, which may be painful and invasive but would give a better chance to cure it.
-
The team does not need manning?Yea that's why were 7-0 oops 0-7.Have you watched a game this year?
Sure if Manning comes back the team could marginally make the playoff given how bad this division is. But as a team you know he is the least of the problems that need to be addressed. Every part of the team needs lots of work.
-
Manning could easily fetch a 1st round pick and more but I get your point
I feel bad for Manning, he could probably leave the Colts and end up on a real team like the Jets that are lacking a QB and win a title easier than it would be here in Indy.
Finally somebody understands my point ^_^
I also think this team does not need Manning. This team needs multiple draft picks much more. Manning can just make up for the Colts. More younger talents can eventually save the Colts.

+1
Well I will take the SBs.
On the other hand, building a good team is not in conflict with having Peyton Manning or Big Ben. You are misguiding the disucssion.
-
You're joking...right? LOL Manning for a 3rd round pick! Carson Palmer just got traded for 2 1st round picks...
I suggested to trade him for a couple of 1st round picks but got burnt by people, and many of them said we could not get any trade value from a 35 yr old QB.

Brady can't win without a defense.
I think he can, while he cannot win with a crappy OL like Peyton has had for years. His OL is the basis of this Pats team now.
-
seaons is over. relax and enjoy.
-
That be cool by me as long as Brady is lifting the big trophy at the end of the year in Indy lol
And SB is in Feb. not end of yr.

Don't see it happening. This year's Pats are one brady injury away from accompanying Colts at the bottom.
But they still should be able to blow us out with their backup QB.
-
Addai was there which I saw, and I understood it might be his playing college FB there.
-
He won't win it, it's going to Aaron Rodgers this year. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a vote.
By the definition of MVP he deserves much more than Rodgers.
Did Peyton Fail To Mentor Curtis Painter?

Pats have traditionally been owning one of the best OL for pass protection in the league, which is extremely helpful for young QBs since they tend to panic when the line cannot handle blitzing. That year's Pats had Randy Moss who was still willing to play. Also their D was still legit at the time. The three conditions made it an ideal situation for young QBs to success as game managers.
Colts basically have nothing now. The QB needs to be the OC on the field and single-handedly get the win.
