  1. I think its imperative that Collins steps up into a leadership position. He was so pedestrian last Sunday. I want to see him vocalizing and really take ownership of this offense.

I think the same, it is hard to make a WR or Colts defensive player our leader, according to our tradition. Nobody does it better than Collins. But the thing is he needs to improve his game and chemistry with Wayne, s.t. he can have the confidence as a natural leader instead of just a vocal one.

  2. Getting Janikowski is a must, and u may not need to look for other kickers. I lost one game last Monday to this guy when I had Brandon Lolyd and was even taking a lead before the game started. But he did help me win the other 2. All were close games. So I was really happy to have him.

The guy has the strongest leg in NFL now, and Raiders are not very efficient in redzone, which makes it a perfect situation for kickers (same for Akers). Also Raiders tend to use his talent to the most, as they always let him try extra-long FGs before half time and he almost got them all, which is the extra bous to Janikowski owners.

  3. i see the article repeats the "the defense is built to play with a lead" nonsense. that is colts speak for "our defense really sucks, but if the opposing offense is totally predictable we can get by."

you get it. this is what our D really is. if there are games you remember our D did very well, you may notice these were mostly games we got a lead quickly, or ones with one-dimensional opponents.

  4. Which three running backs would you guys keep from the choices below?

    Brandon Jacobs

    Michael Bush

    Jonathan Stewart

    Darren Sproles

    Pierre Thomas

    James Starks

    Thanks

    my 2 cents

    James Starks

    Jonathan Stewart

    Pierre Thomas

hope you are talking about the bench only otherwise you are in trouble...

  5. This is a dream team in 12 team league, just dont know about Mason Crosby since Pacs may get too many TDs instead of FGs, which may limit the score coming from the kicker. Sometimes kickers from worse teams can get you more points.

Just dont know how those people in your league let you make the trades. You must be really good at negotiation or they lost their minds. :cheer:

Bench may be a little thin and you may wanna keep one RB I feel... but this is typical in leagues with 3 WRs starting.

  6. Do u mean Eli Manning?

Keeping Wayne should be fine because he is the only target. Since we no longer can spread the ball Wayne's productivity tends to be more consistent considering how many times he is targeted.

Forget about the other Colts WRs since they will not be involved until later half of the season (if Collins can catch up) and nobody will ever look at them now which wont get you any problem taking them in the future.

Also try to drop Vanny and get some other kickers. I just added Macafee to one of my teams where punting is counted.

  7. Again, coaching. Why do the corners play so far off? Because that's what they're told to do, first by Ron Meeks, now by Coyer. I thought Coyer was brought in to do kind of the opposite, but it seems that we keep falling into the same ol' same ol'. 3rd and 6 against the Colts D, might as well be 1st and 5.

you need to have the right personnel to execute the right plays. looking at Lacey matching up against Edwards one-on-one last yr in the playoff was pathetic. Many of our corners should play zone only.

  8. For all intents and purposes I think Peyton is done for the year. The Colts probably already know this but won't say so officially or IR him because they believe that it is better for ticket sales and overall fan interest to let us believe there is a possibility 18 might return at some point. But I don't think they will chance putting Peyton at risk this year.

Agree. And if they publicly rule him out for the season I think the team will mail the season in automatically due to a lack of hope, leadership and confidence.

Still ticket selling will plunge into the record low, which is the major reason.

  9. The Colts defense is a very situational unit. As everybody knows, it is built on offense taking us to a lead. That is also why Manning is so important: He indeed plays defense for us indirectly.

With the current players, it is not like we cannot make changes, but do we have the physical conners to jam the receivers? Do we have the DTs to generate presure from the middle?

  10. OK, "you're a fair weather fan". I suspect others here will call you worse.

What is the point of publicly advertising that you are such a lousy fan that you won't stick with them through this bump in the road?

The only logical explanation is that you enjoy abuse, but if that were the case then by definition there would be no reason for you to leave in the first place. You could get all the abuse you wanted on Sunday afternoons. I'm scratching my head here. :dunno:

I think he just does not want to be abused watching the team blown out. Whoever keeps watching ugly losses are enjoying the abuse. :ref:

  11. fair enough, i have recently turned into fantasy football and i am not drafting any colts player but Wayne. when things suck, u get sth. else to keep moving.

for me to quit watching Colts this season they need to lose this coming week in an ungly fasion. then there may not be a game to win for the rest of the yr.

  12. OK now it is the time...

Here we get an excuse for sucking: We are playing horrible football intentionally to get the next Peyton Manning! BTW we just signed Manning to 20M+ a yr, how can we make cap space for the 1st overall pick and let him sit on the bench for another 3-4 yrs? You want to tell him "there is a great team waiting for u after these yrs" after showing how bad we are without the one player he is replacing?

Indeed when was the last time Colts told people what they really wanted to do sth. serious? If the climate is not changing or Pollian has not got Alzheimer's, I think they are just trying to do sth. to distract the angry fans and let people not feel that bad for the worst season in 10+ yrs. People will forget how to blame him for the unpreparedness for Manning's abscence, if he makes the story sound compelling and hopeful.

I have always been supporting him but not until recently seeing them bring a 39 yrs old retired QB only 3 weeks before the season opening. Now is this crap. Maybe it is the time to make changes.

  13. The major problem now is the loss of leadership. The team is completely lost. They lost the identity and confidence. Our offense players had confidence on Manning, and the D had confidence on O. These were the basis for the Colts success. AS far as they brought in Collins just 3 weeks ago, there is not any trust from the players side. The loss to Texans and the way they lost just did not help improve the confidence level at all. Only bright side was finally Collins connected to Wayne successfully. Hope they can build sth. this week from practice and make a better game plan.

Admit it or not, everybody on this forum and in Indy knows the team aint going anywhere without #18. If he finally leaves the team will need many years to find its identity.

  14. seriously who out of our team can secure a starting job in other NFL teams? I see Wayne, Clark, and maybe Mathis and Bathea (Freeny does not tackle, so he may be situational for some teams), that's about it. as a team we dont have enough talent. we were less talented than the texans team we faces and this has been the same problem in the past 2 years. they got many good players from the draft and there would be certain time they become better than us. even Manning needed a almost perfect game to beat them. this being said it may not be a bad thing to suck for 1 yr and get the talent from the next draft.

  15. For me personally, the only good thing about Peyton retiring now is that I might live to see him give his hall of fame speech. And personally I do not want him to give that speech five years from now. (I am 76.)

I think you do have the right attitude of a fan, since no matter what this is just a sports game no real battle. U watch and find ways to enjoy it your own way.

Plus with today's medical technology 81 is not that old, and truely believe you should be able to see every manning moment even if he gets another contract extension :)

  16. Agreed, but during the off-season he apparently was not under the best of care, because whoever performed surgery on him must have really ****'ed up badly! Now the REAL health and fitness doctors are stepping in cleaning up the off-season doctor's mess with an extra surgery!

So my message to that doctor during the off-season?... "Are you a Patriots or Chargers fan?"

Most likely bears fans in chicago
