  1. True, but a team with far less talent than this. They crapped on Curtis and is costs them 4 mill. and they don't want to embarrass him again. imo

Are you sure? How talenteless were them? At least they had Calvin Johnson. Look at us, what do we have now that we can proudly call a talent for now and future?

  2. Poor Dan Orlovsky, had he not signed with the Colts but staying at whatever position on the Texans depth chart, he could now be starting and managing his team to the playoff, with NFL's best running offense and Andre Johnson assisting him.

Now he is posting his second "perfect season" on his QB Resume and heading into who knows which team after the season ends.

  3. this whole idea that the past decade of success is due just to Peyton is not only laughable, but insulting to every player who has been a Colt during that time. I dare anyone to go up to Jeff Saturday or Dallas Clark, or Marvin Harrison or Reggie Wayne or Dwight Freeney and say that to their face....

Saturday may deserve it. Clark has proven he is a product of his QB. Harrison is debatable since he has never survived any physical playoff game and the year we won the SB he was not a big factor. Wayne is OK. Freeney is one-dimensional and partially a reason for our run defense to suck.

How about looking at other teams and how quickly they have been progressing? For example, have you looked at the talent level of the Texans? Don't say they improve only because they draft high. Arian Foster was undrafted. Now they are down to the third QB and they will still win and go to the playoff.

  4. There is a difference between the overall records of Bill Tobin's Colts and Bill Polian's. Tobin put together a bunch of 9-7 teams with one playoff win in 2 appearances. Polian put together a team that has had 8 years of 12+ wins and 2 Super Bowl appearances with 11 playoff appearances.

Do I think Polian should be absolutely safe? Not really, this is abysmal. But I do think Irsay will look at Polian's track record here, which was seen as great until a few years ago, and probably keep him around. Caldwell will be the fall guy, though it's not like he doesn't deserve it.

The only impressive thing Bill Polian did was to draft a hard-to-miss QB and it was in last century. People like us could make this decision without missing.

The "8 years of 12+ wins and 2 Super Bowl appearances" were all due to the greatness of this QB, and considering his talent BP has failed to make the most of it since his FO have failed to build a decent team around him to get him maybe 3-4 SBs he well deserved.

  5. The OL never gave Brown a chance to show what he could do last year, except for the 2nd Jags game late in the season. As a passing-oriented offense, the backs are used to stretch the plays and pick up blitz. When they are asked to run, they need to find holes themselves and try to dance through them. These are what Addai have been better with.

BTW with the injury history of Addai it was another stupid move by the FO to resign him to a big contract. They have almost done nothing right this season when things are not going the way they are expected. Also based on their poor decision in recent years, drafting Brown high but not giving him enough opportunities is just another evidence of how bad they have been.

  6. I certainly hope he stays, but not at a high price. And I don't like his attitude towards it. "I'm not going to make it easy on them"? I know it's a business, but be open to negotiations. Keep your price too high and you could have a guy like Mark Sanchez throwing you the ball or end up on a team that doesn't make the playoffs until after you retire

If sanzhez throws to him, that may mean that he is in playoff...

Only advice to him - don't stay here if manning is not around.

  7. He is elite now because his old brother is taking the year off. There are reports how the brothers have talked more this year on analyzing games and studying opponents. Eli has not been as good a decision-maker as peyton, and this year I bet he has learned from peyton. Overall eli is more athletic and lucky than peyton, and he has a much more talented team around him. No wonder he has improved and been playing at elite level.

  8. Well after tonight's game, a trade to the Jets is looking a lot more plausible!

    Agree with u.

Sanchez is jets' liability. Flacco is ravens liability. I really hope manning could go either of these teams and win a couple of rings he well deserves. Meanwhile colts can really figure out their problems and get them addressed from several years of high drafts, which will benefit the team in a longer term.

  9. The impression there is no dominating team mainly comes from the deline of the Colts and Pats. After the many years of dominating performance, they have all started to decline due to the lack of talents. Both team will face major rebuilding very soon. Other AFC teams are as usual. For NFC there has never been a team dominating in the past several years, so it is already kinda odd to have Pacs there.

  10. For the earlier part of peyton's career he benefited from some good talents around him. When he became the master of his game the talent level started to decline and polians failed to address the problems. The defense and special teams have always beem liabilities. So yes in the past half decade the team did not give their qb the best chance to win, and they have found all possible ways to eventually fail in the playoffs.

If peyton is traded to ravens or jets for the last 4 yrs of his career, he may end with two more sb rings.

  11. I was so sure Manining would be back with the Colts, I even posted it here on a very long thread, but I just don't see it happening anymore.

The Colts will draft Andrew Luck, this team is bad, lacks talent everywhere and I don't actually think this can be turned around in one year, rebuilding sounds more likely and Luck seems to be the perfect fit

I hear Manning would leave peacefully if the Colts draft Luck, and I believe the Colts would give him the chance to chose what team to play for, out of those seeking the trade (I believe PM is worth two first round picks, maybe one of theose could be a future pick, anyway, where do you think he could go?

I think Jets and Niners make the most sense

Jets, not the Niners since he will not want to compete with his brother. Then in which year there will be the SB in Jets stadium?

  12. But the Pats made it happen twice, one with Tom Brady and another with Matt Cassel :). Those guys know to find QBs in late rounds, obviously. When Ryan Mallet was slipping in the draft last year, and we had tried out Andy Dalton & other QBs, why not take a flyer on him in round 2 last year? We had to wait till the crap hit the fan and it finally did.

To me the Colts offense has more responsibility on the QB because: 1. It is a system completely depending on the audibles and reading the D 2. The team does not have enough offensive weapons unless the QB knows where these players should be placed since they are not athletic enought to fight for plays 3. The teams has a very narrow margin for errors since its D and ST are too weak and essentially the QB is everything of the team.

The year Brady went down the team still had lots of defensive talents and Randy Moss was still willing to play. I don't think this year they can afford losing Brady since the rest of their team are not much better than the Colts.

  13. I could see Manning going to either the Jets, 49ers, Redskins, or Dolphins. If the Niners had Manning right now, that team would be extremely scary, they are allowing the least points per game and have a lot of offensive weapons (Edwards, Crabtree, Gore, Davis, Walker, Morgan etc.)

Same with the Jets, they have a pretty darn good defense and a good O line + running game.

How about the Jets and the brothers share the same stadium and play in SB there? That will be classic...

  14. Guys the Tom Brady mirracle does not happen often. A QB is drafted in late rounds for reasons, and Painter is just who we thought he was.

Also Brady in his early years benefited from a strong team around him, s.t. he was OK as far as he could manage the game. While Colts QB has to carry the team on his shoulder, and as great as Manning, he has to get many close wins even against mediocre teams in recently years due to an extremely weak team around him.

  15. Yeah and Polian is the "genius" that built this team. Maybe now all those Polian is God people will finally wake up. Just imagine how many rings Manning could have by now.

The only thing he did extremely right was to draft Manning, but he has since been given too much credit for the thing he did right in the last century.

  16. I was at the game yesterday and that was all I could think, this is not a NFL calibur team in the worst way. The schemes are bad, some of the talent is bad, some are just missing due to injury but that was about as bad as I have seen them play live for years. Now maybe it is just a problem where multiple pieces of the glue have been missing and those sections fell apart. We know what Manning has meant to this offense but for the defense, to Freeney and Mathis, they have played better with crappy DT's before. We have had some sketchy cb's in the past as well but this year they really look off. It is just a bad team to watch and even though my heart doesn't want to admit this, I think they may actually be worse than the 2008 detroit lions team, they are historical bad IMO.

As for 2012, if there is no Manning here again, Luck will not automatically make it work better in next years season, perhaps in year 2 of his term but this team has some deep blemishes and they will need restored. How are we going to fix this issue over 1-2 seasons, that is a good question. Going to have great coaching and better scheming for avg to slightly above avg NFL talent.

Seriously if Luck comes here he may find the team to be worse than the Stanford team he has been with - a weaker OL and worse running game.

  17. I think Garcon could be a threat as a kick/punt returner but he's basically the #1 receiver at the moment and has a shot at being a true #2 receiver next.

I say no but only because I don't want him getting beat up returning. Definitely not punt returning for the same reason plus he might drop.

At this point he is not only the #1 receiver but also the #1 weapon on the entire Colts offense. And I do not mind to put Painter in bad field position since he will need to practice dealing with these situations.
