  1. Dan will play. If his wife had the triplets already, or if she has them today/ tomorrow, he'll be back in time to play.

What has happened over the last few weeks has saved his career and he won't miss out on that.

if he wins this sunday he might lose his job as a backup in indy next yr though.... LOL

  2. I understand your point of view. But with Harper and David gone, you knew DB was our main need, and we opted for a slot receiver instead. Sometimes you take the best player available, but Gonza was definitely a stetch any way you look at it.

We still don't have a shut down corner, a big time RB, or an elite deep threat WR and we could have gotten them all, or at least two of the three, had we drafted smarter.

Just like your ID they also missed Marvin when he retired and they did find some similarity between Gonzo and Marvin and wanted to let him replace Marvin. The only problem was they did not anticipate the guy just cannot stay healthy.

For WRs your called 'elite' from that draft classes, I just dont see Desean Jackson an elite since he has the attitude. Colts system do not welcome guys that will give up their routes and behave like a child in the locker room. Jordy Nelson is supposed to be the Packs system WR and many dont see him better than Collie, and we all kinda agree that as good as Collie is he might still be behind Gonzo on the depth chart had Gonzo stayed healthier in his early career.

  3. This is like looking at your fantasy football team at the end of season and ask yourself why did/didnt I take xxx ? Not to mention in fantasy football you have much more information to evaluate the talent for these established NFL players instead of kids out of college...

On the other hand, sometimes it is the system that developes the players into the stars they are. Take Forte as an example, yesterday his 3rd backup run for 100+ yards against the packs and they just keept running no matter who is there. If he was drafted by the Colts he might still be struggling with pass protection problems and be 3rd on the depth chart. You plug Donald Brown in Bears running system he might have already reached 1000 yds per season.

  4. Well nobody could take the roll of Peyton Manning, and we just could not win a game if the coaches couldn't make proper adjustments to our play calls. No matter who plays as a backup it would only be a difference of 2 wins or 5 wins. They finally need to figure out how to play without him and his system if they want to win by other QBs.

  5. Still we had no answer to foster (which was good for my fantasy teams) but we contained ben tate well which was a great improvement and a major reason we kept them from scoring. Actually it was the inability in their passing game that won us the game despite the nice output from foster. These texans are not complete when they are without schaub and aj since yates and their other receivers were not good enough to take advantage of the defense deep down the field even when our dbs played very close to the line.

  6. I guess when you have never won a game as a starter in the NFL you are willing to do the "little" things to help your team get a W.

I saw it as soon as it happened and turned to my friend right away and said what a block and then he was off to the races. It wasn't just Orlovsky's block, Wayne and I think Tamme had key blocks down the field credit to them for not giving up on the play. To all those who have been saying we are tanking that play is proof we aren't. We had guys down field on the other end of the field where the play wasn't supposed to go still doing their jobs that sealed the deal after Orlovsky threw a block. This team is still playing VERY hard. I am glad it finally paid off for them with a win.

Tanking or not I don't know but nobody wanted to post a 0-16 on his resume and thus the team showed to be wanting a win more than the titans with a little playoff hope.

  7. This is now the general manager's league. It is easy to fire one coach but it is hard to find his replacement that obeys the order of his GM. Caldwell is Polians' puppy and it can be seen from how they delt with the QB situation and how they let Tryon leave. Only when the GM himself is on the hot seat would he take some actions cutting the tie with his puppy just to secure himself. So far there is no sign the Polians are in any danger.

  8. Matt Flynn is an excellent backup. Even pulling the starters they have so much depth at the WR position and across the board they'll still go 16-0.

That might be true. He did almost led his team to a win in Foxborogh last year. And there are many quality backups in this league. The Billy Volek in San Diego came into our house and kicked the butt of our starting defense in 07.

  9. What is a meaningless game???

The entire game of football could be 'meaningless' since it is just sth. for fun for most of the fans not betting on it or working in related areas. If say the goal of the game is to make fans feel happy, then as far as the fans care and want the team to win, there is no meaningless game.

  10. I never liked the idea of resting but the truth is that there is valid reasoning for it. just look at NE when they lost welker in the last week 2 years ago. there was no need for it.

i didnt like it when we did it but it had a reason.

Considering the talent level of the Colts, I think we just could not afford losing any of the starters in 09, and I do support the idea of resting the starters and I believe that was why we reached the superbowl, and not pulling Freeney late in the Jets playoff game was one of the direct reasons we lost in that SB. Many claimed the two goals were not exclusive, but I don't think so because Colts were not very talented and the backups were not even close. They needed to get all good players to play a perfect game to beat the red hot Saints.

On the other hand, when talking about the meaning of a football game, a perfect season might not be less meaningful than a SB trophy. There are SB trophies every year but the chance to reach perfection is much rare. If the goal of the game is to entertain the audience, the team should have gone for the perfect season as it was what the most of the audience wanted. Even if they exit early from the playoff due to crucial injuries in the last two weeks, the audience should be able to forgive them and still feel satisfied.

  11. Hard to tell..Tony..this was just his first year..

I dont think he was injury prone in college..

But we drafted 3 college stars in the 1st 3 rounds..and two are on IR...

we sure didnt get to see much of them this year

The Nevis kid was registered to be 294 lbs and he told people at the draft that he had put on weight, and when he appeared on the field he looked way overweighted and I was worried how his legs/knees could sustain. If the team needs a DT to stuff the run, go get a real one please and don't try to put on extra weight to your players with smaller frame.

  12. But we also lost Manning. I think the stats for our running game this year are the best they have been in a long time. We are getting more yards per carry than we have in the last few years

Yes we all know it is because of Manning. So how do you get the conclusions Eagles lost because of Mudd, Jets did not improve because of Moore? For me Jets struggle because their QB sucks and he will always be their liability. Eagles lost the season because the could not stop the run. Their OL is always gonna be tough to coach for whoever the OL coach since who knows where Vick is going. Plus they should feed McCoy instead of throwing deep and depending on the big plays.

  13. Since Jim Caldwell took over.

    Howard Mudd left.

    Tom Moore left.

Bill Polian singlehandedly is drowning this organization.

If i was Peyton, i would re-join Tom Moore with Jets, win a few SBs and retire happy while Colts will be holding the honor of being the frst NFL team to go 0-16 on consecutive years.

Again big thanks to the Front office.

I'd love to see them get a reunion and make 2 more SB runs.

  14. Let's continue to chalk it up to bad luck. darn, we have the worst luck.

This is not just about luck. Every team has issues and we are not the worst. Texans are having devastating injuries while they are still finding ways to win. No excuse.

On the other hand, if you draft a 6'1 DL with over 310lb weight and hope he does not injure himself when playing lights out, well, you must be really lucky to see that happen.

  15. Have you guys felt Nevis just cannot stay healthy? My feeling after watching his several games is that the guy sure has the heart, and he looks pretty big but it looks like too much weight on a relatively small frame. I personally don't see him getting through the whole season since it just looks like a matter of time for sth. to go wrong.
