  1. The new Alternate Uni is called “Indiana Nights” and will be worn in the week 7 matchup. I like the all black helmet. I know a lot of posters prefer the current uniforms that the players wear, but these are very clean uniforms IMO. Can’t wait to see them on the field.

I’m not talking about what you think is the top need per se… I’m talking about what is the most EXCITING positional need we can address at this point? Something to make us think “let’s see what we can do with him!” Or “I wonder what he can do?” type stuff.

I don’t think excitement trumps “Actual” need. So let’s just stick with what the roster needs most which is a RG, CB and possibly a Safety and LBer.

They failed to mention Josh Downs.

Jonathan Taylor is a legitimate threat out of the backfield.

Jelani Woods should be our TE starter.

Downs is a rookie , Woods imo deserves to be TE1 I think he has more upside than MAC.

  4. Ok my list would have to go something along the lines of

Edge- Both Dayo and Paye I’m hoping they both take a leap.

DB- Specifically Rodney Thomas I feel like he will take a major jump . I also want to see How Brent’s and Rush will pan out. With Rodgers future uncertain that opens up more opportunities for Rush to make an impact early .

Oline- After last season’s disastrous oline play, I would love to see how they bounce back.

I remember him from the 2018 draft class. This pickup has Steichen written all over it. I think he's solid depth, and I'm all for it considering we didn't get a true EDGE in the draft this year (Adebawore is more of a tweener IMO). I'm a bit worried that we only have 5 RBs on the entire team now (I usually prefer 6 heading into training camp because of possible injuries and competition), but I'm going to guess we sign another UDFA or cut from another team to round it out to 6 again.

Avery is a good depth piece that can compete immediately for a spot on the team. We'll see if he works out. Positive is you can have a couple veterans on the practice squad now, so if doesn't make the 53 and does well, we can still hold on to him.

I would say off the ball linebackers are more so a need then RBs

    RB:

    Taylor - Tier 1 - $10-$12m a season

    WR:

    Pittman Jr - Tier 2 - $21-$28m a season

    DT:

    Stewart - Tier 2 - $13-$20m a season

    CB:

    Moore II - Tier 3 - $5-$8m a season

I think Taylor is right around where it should be.

Not so sure Pittman Jr is in that tier with some of those guys.

Stewart would be fine as long as it is at the lower part of that range.

Doubt Moore accepts an offer in that range, but guess we will see how season plays out.

Thoughts on those tiers and potential contract figures?

Im almost certain Kenny Moore is as good as gone.

Would you trade the #4 pick for Justin Fields? According to recent reports. Multiple NFL general managers came away from the recent Pro Bowl weekend believing the Bears are open to dealing QB Justin Fields. Fields will be entering his 3rd-year of a 4-year rookie contract that also has a 5th-year option. There is a lot of speculation that none of the QB's at the top of this draft are elite and will likely need a couple years to adjust to the NFL. Fields already has a couple years experience as an NFL player. He could potentially hit the ground running on the Colts and new coach Steichen could utilize and mold him much like he did with Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia. The Colts have already shown that they want to shorten the window of returning to competitive relevancy by convincing their new coach to largely keep the entire defensive staff in place. Would a young explosive QB with a couple years of experience shorten that window even more?

No, Fields hasn’t shown that he has the ability to process reads and make accurate passes. He often has to rely on his athleticism to get himself out of jams. I don’t think he’s going to be a Top 10 QB in this league so why waste a top 5 draft pick on him?

the team needs to know by the time free agency starts, if he pulls a luck and retires at the last minute that will screw us over

cant  just go into the season starting a backup caliber player at one of the most important positions on the team again sigh

What the Team needs and what’s actually going to happen is completely up to AC.

I think we can all agree the 2019 season was a season of bad Luck and bad news. Luck retiring obviously, the continuous injuries issues especially to the pass catchers, and now the abrupt rumors of a possible Anthony Costanzo retirement.

I would hope those bad fortunes will turn around this offseason into the 2020 season. That being said, we need Costanzo to make up his mind before the combine, so Colts front office, coaches, and scouts can plan accordingly for their LT position going forward. I do wonder why he is taking so long to make his decision. Losing him would be devastating for this team and would further my belief that this team has had to overcome more than the average NFL team. I hate the cards Ballard has been dealt.

The NFL is a business, AC does not owe this organization anything. I am ok with him waiting to make his decision, after all it is his career and likelihood here at stake.

I’ve seen tons of mentions. I decided the start a thread. What are your personal remarks about him?

Personally he has to stay healthy. He wasn’t full healthy when returning from that meniscus tear. I’m hoping to see more from him with an improved front four.

Hooker is a man above average Safety , he’s had to battle through injuries which are a knock against him. And I personally think the defense we switch to is not his strong suit. He excels as a dingle high safety , cover 2 is not putting him in the best position to make plays.
