I was hoping we could find a serviceable corner to get through rest of season but looks like that won’t happen.

I think they are content with letting the youngsters play.  To gain experience, after all this is a throw away season.

I would want at least a high 4th for him, maybe a 3rd as a minimum.

I agree, if they are able to get atleast a 4 for him you pull the trigger. He’s a FA this offseason, I just don’t see the Organization making the mistake and over paying two backs. I’m sure after the season that Miss has had he could easily say I’ll test out FA. Might as well get something for him now.

Letting Gilmore go should not have happened. A lot of veteran db's have been allowed to leave before the tank was dry.

The defensive line has two good players and the rest are fill ins at best. Colts have maybe 5 players that could start for any team. Their backups would not make many other teams practice squads.

The Colts still do not their franchise qb on this team. Richardson is not the answer. Yea, he can run and get hurt over and over again. I predict he will not start long enough to get first veteran contract extension.

Before everyone bashes my post, look around at all the playoff implication talk before the jags rip off 5 victories, two against the colts. Now the colts lack of talent, due to Ballards inability to build a solid program to compete in the vastly improved AFC South division.

I like the coaches on this team. The guys who are drafting and picking up castoff players have a lot to be desired.

It eats me alive that people miss a mr. irrelevant like Brock Purdy and pick guys like Richardson who showed nothing at Florida in a ten game career because he can run fast and be exiting to watch. This team needs to build a good defense then worry about scoring. Colts are in a rebuild. Lets face it.

He wasn’t let go he was traded. He actually requested the trade. So Gilmore no longer wanted to play here.

Let's say they trade Moss for a 4th or 5th. Then what? Do they draft an RB with a 4th or 5th? And if so, is that player going to be as good as Moss? With Moss, you know what you have, and given the RB market, I'm not sure I see him commanding a large salary. If the Colts can get him on an affordable contract, then why use a pick on an RB when there are other needs. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong--an opinion can't be wrong since it's an opinion. But I just don't see what the Colts gain by trading away a capable backup when there's always a risk that Taylor could get injured. This is especially true when you're giving him a heavy workload.

No you don’t Draft another RB. Hull will be back next season, and they are really high on him. So he steps in to replace Moss. The pick can be used to trade up or used to address other positions of need.

I'd love for Zack Moss to have an opportunity to be THE guy somewhere. My thought was simply that the Colts don't really have anyone proven behind Taylor without Moss. So I just don't see them parting with him. But who knows?

While I do agree with you (that there is no one proven behind him). You just don’t pay someone that amount of money to split touches with another guy. We may very much so keep Moss and I wouldn’t be upset at it, he’s played VERY well. I just gave my unpopular opinion, I could easily see him being shipped off somewhere else for a mid 4-5 round pick.

There's no way they trade for Jeudy. Nah-gah happen.

Zach Moss' utility value to the team greatly exceeds value in draft capital. I don't see it happening

I think a trade is possible, but it would be a low-level trade for a solid CB. That would be the only reason for a trade.

As I said with another poster, we can agree to disagree. With Taylor back Moss can easily be expendable. If draft capital is available in return I can easily see them moving on. I also believe Moss is in a contract year as well.

Was wondering how long it would take them to actually admit this. Now everyone can drop it that they made the correct calls.

Well the thing is team officials are not supposed to publicly speak on those conversations with the league. Hopefully Irsay speaking on this doesn’t negatively impact the organization. But I am hoping an expanded play review system will come from this because they really screwed those two calls up.

I suggested trading for Ridder if ATL wanted to trade up to 4 for a QB (because some were insisting they wanted a new QB).  And then build out the roster with the draft picks.  Ridder is not going to be the super hero guy, but a team can win games with him, IMO.  I would not describe that as being "high" on him.  That trade scenario was in the context of us not getting Stroud and ATL wanting to trade up to get a new QB (which I didn't remotely think they wanted).

I've never wanted the Colts to draft Bennett, just like I've never wanted the Colts to draft Young.  They are both too small, IMO.  My seemingly positive comments about Bennett was in the convo about why in the world Young was thought of so highly by so many.  I didn't see the disparity, but I never wanted either of them.

Agree that outside WR gets the better ROI.  I'm not advocating Bowers over MJHj or anybody at this point.  But I think he needs to be in the convo despite who we have in our TE room.

No way he’s in the conversation, I don’t think the Colts would invest a pick in Bowers he’s likely going in the first round potentially early second if he slides for some reason. With all the draft capital the Colts Invested at the TE position over the past three drafts I highly doubt they take a TE that high.

  9. He’s an athletic freak, 6-3 210 pounds and runs a 4.34 forty. His tape is very underwhelming tho, he doesn’t look very physical and lacks willingness to tackle. Has somewhat fluid movement from what I can see. Very Raw. Definitely a project player will likely see special team reps. Would’ve like Darius Rush back tho atleast he is familiar with the defensive scheme.

Even before the Colts had Moss and Taylor was at his best he would take a series here and there off and they needed a second back.  Also if Taylor didn’t have a trade market I doubt Moss does.  Moss had one before because the Colts pretty much made a running back for running back trade. Why do that again if Moss is doing so well as your backup back?

I would disagree because there was uncertainty on Taylor’s health. A lot of organizations wasn’t sure if he was healthy and the said asking price was too high. If they could get a mid round pick for Moss I think that would be a solid deal for the Colts. With the way that Moss has been running and catching the ball I could easily see someone being interested in him.

Do the Colts get the $3mil back from Grovers suspension? Could use that towards signing a vet minimum player or 2!?

No because by the time he comes back he’d have played enough games to satisfy his minimum requirements to his contract guarantees

  12. Unpopular opinion but I believe Zach Moss has put ALOT on tape and could be shipped out before the deadline. You don’t pay your work horse all that coin to have him split carries. I think Miss could be trade bait and get draft capital in return. I don’t think they trade for a player especially with AR out for the year I think this is a throwaway season and they’ll look to just close out the season and hold decent position to get a solid pick come draft.

Colts will not be in position to draft MHJ even if they lose out, there will be a team or 2 ahead of them to take MHJ! I wouldn’t mind though if they were to draft that WR out of Washington, Odunze, at some point! Kid can create separation and can be a deep threat. Also, I don’t see the Colts going after Bowers with the current depth they already have. Ogletree, Granson, Mallory, and Woods are a good core. I do see them finally moving on from Mo though.

I’ve never said that the colts would be in position to draft him lol. If they did indeed want him they could absolutely trade up.

Based upon my limited college football watching this season (which includes a lot of UGA games and some OSU games) he looks like the one college player that is truly a generational talent at his position.

And his position scores touchdowns and makes first downs, so its a great position to have a generational talent.

MJHj looks great, but I don't know if he's that much greater than a typical NFL WR.

Actual NFL scouts and Execs have compared MHJ talent to the likes of Randy Moss. Calling him a generational talent . You dont get that type of praise being a Typical NFL WR.

They should have sat him for year one.  For multiple reasons but chiefly among them this is a big boy league and his best trait is something that will get him hurt.  Coaches will use that best trait plain and simple, because they want to win games or their own standing is at risk.  And if you look at the shelf life of RBs you can see a guy who runs too much has a good chance to not last very long.

When you draft a QB high you want that player to be your cornerstone.  So the best play would have been to sit him year one and make him run the scout team and string together drives with minimal running.  During that first year he learns the offense and works on running to buy time in the backfield and keeping his eyes downfield.  As the season goes on if he reaches the point where he can't be stopped in practice then you know you got your guy like the Chiefs did with Mahomes.  That would have been ideal for this player I think.  Because he has to work on his accuracy too, which is very difficult to fix at this level.

So this could end up being a blessing in disguise from that perspective of him getting the time he needs to fully master the offense.  If they decide to sit him then the coach has to solve his issues without running the rook into the teeth of defenders like a round 6 running back.

Yea but here’s the thing, he’s not gonna be able to practice. We don’t k ow the extent of the Injury and the timetable for recovery. If they’re suggesting it’s a shutdown for the remainder of the year then one has to assume that he likely won’t be engaged in any physical activity outside of rehab. So there goes the whole “practice /scout team thing.

  16. I think people have to understand that with the amount of youth in the secondary, he really can’t get too exotic with the looks. Kinda has to keep it simple for those guys so they don’t have to think too ma much and can play somewhat fast.

  17. Sermon honestly hasn’t brought any kind of spell to the backfield. Any down I saw him in was pretty * poor (thank god JT is back). The TE room is really curious , I wonder how they go about determining who gets in on any particular play? Seems like snaps are being spread amongst that group. Has anyone noticed that Shaq has looked pretty bad since his return? I wonder if it’s just the rust of not playing after so long, or if that Injury has caused him to regress a lot . Whatever it is I hope he can shake back and play up to his contract. We seriously need to bring in more CB help and it needs to happen soon. God forbid another CB goes down we are going to have to ask one of our safety’s to play Corner. The depth is super thin at that position right now.
