March 18th is the open of FA and the draft is April 23-25.

I am really anxious to see what free agents Ballard signs, Who will be the big one he chooses. (Chris Jones please)

Heard through the grapevine that the Colts were going to make a hard push for Clowney if he hits FA. If we are are able to secure Clowney and draft Kinlaw boy does our Pass rush VASTLY improve.

I heard Colin Cowherd say he thinks we are the best fit for him next year if he doesn’t re-sign with NE. Creative coach, great organisation, excellent young O-line.  Personally, I think he’ll re-sign with NE, just putting that out there.

Thinking objectively about this here. Brady is at least top 2 in GOAT status. His football IQ is off the charts and his drive and leadership is close to being unrivalled. Seeing that we have his former understudy and good friend JB in the QB room currently, would he want to sign here?

At #13 I think we miss out on Burrow, Tua & Herbert. If we were to not pickup a QB early, would you support signing Brady to mentor JB for another year and try again next year at a QB of the future?

Had no idea who he was until I heard the Stick to Football guys get excited about him. James Lynch from Baylor. They expected him to return to school. Plays inside and out but is seen as a DT at the next level. Thought this would be interesting to some considering DT is a need that’s discussed often:. lines up inside and outside too.

I’m very optimistic because of the level of competition he played against was really “Elite”

This is something that goes underappreciated by fans - teams trade for QBs in the top 10.

In the last 4 years, 10 QBs have been drafted in the top 10 of the draft.

    Out of those 10:

-7 were drafted after their team traded up in the draft in order to secure the guy.

-2 were drafted no. 1 so their team didn't have to trade up to get them because they already had the highest possible pick

-1(Daniel Jones) was drafted  without a trade up by the GM that hates moving in the draft

IMO it's very likely that if we get a QB we will trade up to get him. If we don't, we are likely not going to get a QB in this draft.

I think we will take a QB I just think that one won’t be taken in the 1st. Instead one will be taken in a later round.

This one I am doing a little bit differently and going to roll with Brissett next year (which I obviously do not want at all) or we got a different QB in FA. We trade our 13 to Philadelphia for their 21st and their 2nd round. Hopefully with doing all these mocks I will get at least one pick right haha

    1st round

     Mekhi Becton OT Louisville

With the uncertainty of Castonzo I'm viewing it as he doesnt come back next year and we will need his replacement and CB values the tranches to much to let it fall apart after losing a starting tackle.

    2nd round 1st pick

     Justin Madubuike DT Texas A&M

An explosive DT that can disrupt and produce pressure up the middle that we so desperately need.

    2nd round 2nd pick

    Cameron Dantzler CB Mississippi State

There are some better CB's still on the board at this pick however I made this pick assuming we are going to keep building for a cover 3 defense and in that we need size and Cameron has it at 6-2.

    2nd round 3rd pick

    Gabriel Davis WR Central Florida

He's got great size and speed (6-3) and can create seperation. Has excellent production in college. Honestly believe if this class wasn't so loaded he'd be a fringe first rounder.

    3rd round

    Curtis Weaver DE Boise State

I would put money on that as long as Chris Ballard is at the reigns we draft at least one DE every year lol. He has good size and good production in college at 13.5 sacks.

    4th round

    Collin Johnson WR Texas

This pick still won't change in any of my mocks. I believe he will fall after the combine after testing poorly. I want to bring him in and convert him to TE. Match him up against a line backer or a slot CB and throw it up and he will catch it.

    5th round

    Jonah Jackson G Ohio State

Very large guard that we can hopefully mold into a decent back up and eventual starter

    6th round 1st pick

     Jaylinn Hawkins, S, California

    6th 2nd pick

    Raequan Williams, NT, Michigan State

    7th round

    Patrice Rene, CB, North Carolina

I’m sorry this mock is just awful.

I think it’s funny how people take one game and can’t get it out of their heads. Outside of the Denver game and the one play in week 17 you barely heard his name. He actually had good coverage on Thomas. Bree’s was just on fire that night.

Agree to disagree, I could be wrong but I believe he had atleast one pass interference or defensive holding call every game he played. I will say he played adequate for a rookie.

I've always wondered why we gave up an traded #1 pick DE Jerry Hughes to Buffalo their prior  #3 pick LB named Edwards who I think played 2 subpar years with the Colts.

I've been watching Hughes play above average to decent for Buffalo, makings plays like today against Houston. It is still in OT, will they win, we shall see.

I thought Hughes was decent for us and not sure why we traded him, I think it was a mistake.

He didn’t fit the Scheme when we switched to a 3-4 so they moved him to a 4-3 team as he was a better pass rusher with his hands in the dirt.

Hooker was never a man-cover safety, but he was thought to have the "traits" to develop into one.

I think what you're talking about is covering the single high zone.  Its still a zone.  But playing lower towards the LOS and turning and running with a receiver in a zone is not really his thing, and that's how I would think of a cover safety in a zone scheme....IMO.

by coverage safety I’m speaking specifically as a zone coverage, not man coverage. So let me rephrase that he is the best Zone coverage safety that we have.

Geathers has already lost his starting job to Willis. I am ok keeping him as a backup. Desir has battled injuries all year.

I wouldn’t say lost he actually played a significant amount of snaps towards the latter of the season which was due to injury but they have sort of shared duties in the secondary. I’d prefer not to have Geathers back as a backup and let him walk.

While we are pointing out blame in covering, Hooker has looked like a hot piece of dog feces lately. Not sure what’s up with him. Is he hurt, lack of caring or the scheme is not allowing him to showcase his skill set. Something isn’t right with Hooker for sure.

our strong suit is our lb’ers now, and even then, it’s not like they are the dominant group in the league. Eberflus has to add more wrinkles into this defense than it’s vanilla shell we so frequently are seeing.  I do recall an article early in the year that quoted a few other “anonymous” GM’s  that said planning or playing against our defense was the most simplistic defense of the league. Or something like that. Eberflus either isn’t that creative or CB has him cornered down to certain parameters. Idk something must change next season for sure. Maybe with Turay and Houston on the field together and a better DT, the back end looks better. I’d just like to see more creative packaging from Eberflus than we’ve seen so far. Look at the Dallas team he was a part of, they have some wrinkles in their defense.

In my honest opinion Hooker isn’t being used appropriately. If you look at his better seasons when healthy he was used as a single high safety. That is honestly where he excels at, in a cover two scheme he just doesn’t play as well. I will say his tackling has improved which is vastly because he is now required to play in the box more than what he is used to.

Autry, Willis and Moore were out today. We have a very young defense. He is still safe. The secondary will look bad until we get a better dline.

We also need a second cover safety, Geathers is awful in coverage and a better corner to replace Desir it’s not just only on the defensive line.

Defense has been bad! Spent most of the draft on that side of the ball and it took a step back. The scheme sucks. We gave up big plays everywhere. Down the sideline, middle of the field, we never cover the back out the backfield. Blitzes were obvious and didn’t hit home often enough. A bunch of issues.

Either there is a disconnect with what is being taught or Eberflus is getting out coached. I know wasn’t a Reich guy. We made a lot of average QBs look great.

The Tampa 2 defense is a defense that is designed to play with a lead. Which is why it excelled in the Manning Era, because the Offense was so potent and could put up points. It’s not really a great defense playing from behind. I’m not a fan of the defense at all. And I don’t think we are properly utilizing are defenders to their full capabilities in a cover 2 scheme. I personally would prefer we played more of a style of defense that the Seahawks are known for. But we don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle to make that style of defense work.

I know I know Philip is 38 year old So it would only be for a year or two but Frank Reich was the Chargers quarterbacks coach in 2013 and offensive coordinator from 2014-2015. Colts OC Nick Sirianni was on the Chargers coaching staff for five seasons as the team’s offensive quality control coach (2013), quarterbacks coach (2014-2015) and wide receivers coach (2016-2017).  there would be a lot of familiarity there. Just a thought.

    1. WR: Hilton is slowing down a bit, Campbell has been injured so far and the rest are back ups at best. We need a REAL play maker, I wouldn't be opposed to AB in Indy if he checks out after his mental help.

    2. QB- JB is no better than the starters that are being replaced with the Bengals and Bears (If they move on from that mistake). He's Ryan Tannyhill, good enough to stick but not good enough to win consistently.

    3. DE: Houston really brought some pressure, but we need more. Draft a playmaker or find one in FA, but he's needed.

4: RB: I like who we have, but we need another bigger back. There should be plenty available in FA or later in the draft.

TE: I like Jack Doyal, but he's a #2, good, just not a game changer. Getting another TE that can make plays will really open the game up. Ebron gave up on the team, so we should give up on him..

    In order imo it’s

    1) Corner

    2)Wide Receiver

    3)Defensive Line

    4)Kicker

    5)Tight End

umm besides brady and manning name me a good decent pocket passer? cause if you say brees or rogers both are included in the mobile type

I wouldn’t necessarily say they are “mobile” but more so have the ability to improvise and extend plays.

  16. I honestly would love to see us run more cover 3. We have Hooker who is a great Center Field safety and Excels in the Deep third. Yet we play this soft cover 2 which I hate watching Hooker play in. You can run a cover 3 with man matching principles and I believe we have the talent to pull it off. It’s time to ditch the cover 2. Good offensive coordinators know exactly how to beat it.
