With all the injuries to the RBs I’m shocked Ballard isn’t bringing in a vet RB or another RB from another teams practice squad. What is the plan?

They elevated funk and signed Goodson to the PS. I assume they expect Moss back soon and will continue to roll with whoever is on the roster.

I mean the PFF grades back you up.  I don’t think saying Fries is the weak point is that controversial IMO.

Yea I had made that statement prior to even seeing the PFF grades. I went back and watched every offensive snap from the game and just from the tape you could see Fries getting worked . He had a few bright spots , but the bad outweighed the good snaps he had .

Never said they didn’t. I just said the 4 sacks couldn’t be pinned on any one player is or was my point

I think you confused me pointing out at how bad Fries was as me blaming him for the sacks which is not the case. I’m not putting those sacks on any one player , I said everyone had there moments. I just simply pointed out that Fries was undoubtedly a major weak point on the line.

So far he’s off to a really hot start to the season. 8 receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown in the season opener. He’s also in a contract year in a new offensive system. Just wanted to see what everyone’s prediction is.

Originally I thought he’d be and 800 yard guy, but after seeing that we really have zero run game, he might break 1,000 yards.

I wonder if it’ll be enough to get him paid though because it looks like the Colts want to upgrade at WR. Rumors that they inquired about Jaylen Waddle when talking to the Dolphins about compensation for JT, have no been followed up with reports that they asked GB about Watson.

It seems like his performance may not make a difference, unless he has some type of otherworldly performance. Im still expecting an average season from him though. What do you all think?

I think that AR realized that Pittman is going to be his safety blanket. If you look at how he started off he didn’t even target Pittman in the first half. Second half he almost exclusively hit Pitt and Granson. I think that Pitt will have a solid season somewhere in the area of 80-90 catches and 800-1000 yard season 5 TDs.

Just going by the official stat. He was “sacked” twice by running out of bounds. So maybe most wasn’t the best word but half it appears would be a better word.

that said, it most certainly can be pointed out that even those running sacks were the fault of the OL not holding up and forcing him out of the pocket

So back to my original point that I made you’re basically agreeing with me. The Oline played poorly.

None of our back’s could get going because they were 3rd and 4th string.  Just average backs at best.  Nothing special about them.  Your evaluation of Fries is way over the top.  I thought he had a solid game with a couple of outstanding blocks on scoring plays.

Being a backup RB has nothing to do with the offensive line being able to create running lanes. It wouldn’t have mattered if JT was back there to be completely honest with you.

Over the top? He’s a backup at best on about 75 percent of any NFLs roster. He is just simply not that good. If you watch the tape you can see that. The bad outweighed the good. He had far more bad snaps than good ones.

You do realize that most of those sacks was from AR running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage right?

That’s actually inaccurate. I’m not sure what you consider most but Josh Allen beat Braden Smith for a clear sack and walker beat BR for a clear sack as well neither of those plays and on another play where he was gang sacked im not sure who all were credited for that one . Neither of those plays Richardson was running behind the LOS or towards the boundary for that matter.

  9. I know this is only game 1 and I don’t want to overreact. But after watching the performance that the offensive line put on , I can safely say that help is needed. Everyone had there fair share of moments but the RG position needs to be addressed Immediately. Fries is just simple not the answer. You can see on several plays that Braden Smith gets beat because he’s trying to help Fries as much as he can. Richardson was under duress almost all game , if it not for his legs he would have been sacked more than 4 times. I don’t want to put this young man in the same position where it led Andrew Luck to retire from all the punishment he took. The run blocking was abysmal, outside of one solid Evan Hull run for I believe 15 yards or so , none of our backs could get going. The holes simply weren’t there. I don’t know what it’s going to take for Ballard and Company to realize that help is needed on the Oline.

Honestly the game went better than I expected. I truly though that the playcalling was a tad bit too aggressive. You have to take the points when they are there. I believe we left two potential FGs off the board. This is Shane’s first game as a head coach so I am hoping he grows from this. But taking points is critical, it could’ve changed the entire dynamic of the game. AR played well for a rookie , showed poise. They blitzed him a lot and he didn’t panic too much, I will say I would like to see him take what the defense gives him more. That will obviously come with experience. The defense played pretty well, I was pleasantly surprised with the defensive line. I think once the DBs get more game experience the defense will play lights out. All in all the future looks bright, I expected the Jags to win , but we put up a damn good fight.

Moss downgraded to doubtful so expect a lot of Hull tomorrow with Jackson getting a share and Funk a few snaps.    Winfree played his heart out all offseason and in preseason.  Thiught may be Rodgers getting the call but both solid WR 5's.

on the contrary, I think Deon gets the nod on the start. With Hull spelling on third downs.

Who are our breakout candidates for this year? Pick 1 of the following

    -Rookie not named Anthony Richardson

    -1 non-rookie offensive player

    -1 non-rookie defensive player

    My picks;

    Rookie Breakout: Josh Downs, WR

    Offensive Player: Bernard Raiman, OT

    Defensive Player: Nick Cross, SAF

Rookie pick came down to Hull and Downs for me, but ultimately given the thin depth at receiver I think Downs should thrive. I think 500 yards and 4 TDs is possible.

Offenisve player was also hard to pick between Pierce and Raiman, but I like what I’ve seen from Rainman in camp. I think he takes that next step.

Defense was easy. I don’t trust Kwity Paye to stay healthy and Ebukum is an unknown right now. Cross looks a lot more comfortable this year now that they have him playing more SS. The SS has to do a lot in a Bradley scheme, and clearly it was too much for him last year. This year I think he has a great season.

Kwity Paye on defense and on Offense I’ll Go Bernard rookie wise I’m gonna have to go Downs.

Why would we do that when Isaiah Rogers played nickel. Are you sure about that?

I’m 100% positive, go look at the availability to the media interviews from camp. Gus Bradley mentioned it several times. When Kenny went down , and Rodgers played on the outside they moved Blackmon to the slot. Blackmon even mentioned playin in the slot and how much more respect he had for Kenny after his experience playing there.

Brown is the only backup slot to KM.

I wish they could have kept Rush too, they probably could have snuck Brown through waivers and put him on the PS.

But Rush and JuJu both have missed a lot of time.  Except for that gifted pick six, neither one of them look anywhere near ready.

I just think he has a ton more upside than Brown does, but that’s just my opinion. Like you said sneak Brown to the PS to retain Rush. But who knows how that would have all played out.

I don’t think it would be fleecing them. You think JT is some scrub? He was the best RB in football in 2021 and is only 24.

Where in the hell did I say he was a scrub? I never said JT was a scrub. Secondly if we are able to get rid of a player that doesn’t want to be here and get a premium impact player in return and potentially an additional pick out of it. That IMO would be fleecing them. Jaylen waddle has put together two back to back 1000 yard seasons, one of them playing opposite of Tyreek Hill. He had 6 TDs his first season and 9 his second. Michael Pittmans best season was 1082 yards and 6 TDs. Waddle is a playmaker that this offense could definitely use. RBs is a DYING position and with AR under center JTs Carrie’s would undoubtedly deminish. He is a home run threat but he is most certainly replaceable in this offensive scheme. If you’re going to attack me atleast come correct.
