  1. Perriman is too high. He is fast, but reminds me of Heyward-Bey. I would rather have Lockette, who is pretty low at #70. Someone is going to get a great steal in the 2nd or 3rd.

Golson rated as 2nd round CB, highest I have seen, and PJ Williams higher than Darby. That is one of the lowest rankings for Darby I have seen. He would be a good get in the 2nd, and put him at S as Dustin mentioned.

Henry Anderson would be a nice get in the 3rd. He is listed as Alabama, but it is Anderson from Stanford.

Surprised Montgomery is in the top 100.

I would really like us to take a S or CB in the first, and take Laken Tomlinson or Stephone Anthony if one of them is there at our 2nd. The strength of this draft is in the 2nd and 3rd. I hope someone wants to get a player, and have that 5th year option, and comes back into the 1st round late so we can trade back, unless Lael Collins is still there.

  2. With several states having pot legal, I can live with a player getting busted by the league for testing positive, or being arrested for pure possession. It is the direction the whole country seems to moving to. I would rather not have to accept it, but it is hard to stop a movement. What I do not like is when they are pulled over when they are high. For me, it is the same as a DUI with as potent as pot is these days. Also, if a player, like Gregory has shown to be a habitual user, then I take him off my board. Habitual use does not make for players who have football as their career and number 1 priority.

With that said, I think Ray is going to be there at #29. I don't think Gregory will slip that far because he is a better talent, and he has already asked for help. So teams are going to say at a certain point, too much talent wins. For Ray with the toe injury, and a bad pro day, I believe 2nd round now, but someone may view him the same way. Dustin is one of few I have read that do not like the kid as a player. Most are like Polian who think at our spot he would be a steal. Hopefully someone before us feels the same way, but I also will take into account the fact so many talent scouts like the kid, there has to be something there.

  3. I don't want to make anyone mad, since I have posted things like this the last few weeks, but we are going to have so many rumors over the next few days, we should try and keep this part of the forum clean except mock drafts and evaluations. Rumors clog things up, unless they are confirmed trades. I am not the mod. though, so mabye they can weigh in.

I will say, the Falcons are aggressive, remember going up for Julio Jones, and since Jacksonville is rumored to like Fowler, they may have to go up to #3, and when there are several rushers, I would not fall in love with one. Especially if it is a team that proved how moving up in the draft can wipe out your depth due to lack of draft picks!

  4. I have attached an article by former sports agent Joel Corry. It is an excellent read that talks about the economics of the first round. It talks about best positions to draft in terms of position, option years, and reasons for moving back into the late first round. (This would be a good sign for the Colts if they want to trade back, but if someone falls, you lose the advantage he speaks of).The part I found most interesting is why teams like to move back into the bottom of the first round. Reason, you get the 5th year option and it is likely to be very cheap. Player control and cheap contracts. Makes a lot of sense, so much the Vikings have employed the policy the last 3 years if you have not notices. They hit nicely with Harrison Smith, and his option is cheap. Vote is out on Patterson, who I don't think was a first rounder, and Bridgewater who was a steal at #31 and his contract will really help the Vikings for the next four years going forward. Just a really good article and a different way to look at the draft. In the end though, it is kind of difficult to control the draft pick you are going to get.

I found it more important for the idea of the late first round picks and the hidden value of the 5th year option which should be figured into a trade, instead of just the points of the draft. I find the more we get into this new CBA that the draft points are being made a little less important than before with no rookie salary cap.

  5. OK, if the Eagles are willing to give up basically two proven first rounders, and two draft picks, here is what I propose. We trade Andrew to the Titans for their 2nd and their their 1st rounders for the next 5 years. Then we flip Mariotta for the Eagles stash. Then we go back to the Titans and trade Kendricks, Cox, and the 20th this year and our 29th, and Titans number 1 draft pick next year for Andrew. I like it! We get Andrew back plus multiple number 1's the next 5 years. I am of course being very sarcastic hear, so no heckles!   unless Tenn. is game for the trade?

As insane as the above sounds, that trade by the Eagles would be even more crazy. Kendricks and Cox may be in their last year of their contract, who cares. They are excellent players. Kelly if this was done, seems intent on gutting his roster so he can instill his dream vision. I don't think for a second Lurie would be OK with this, even if Chip has Personnel control.

  6. The Titans would be fleecing the Chargers if they got both Rivers and the 17th pick for the 2nd pick

Exactly, and this is why it won't happen unless the Chargers receive at least another 2nd rounder, and I would ask for there first round pick next year. Rivers is a franchise QB. Mariotta may not be ready to start for a year. You do not make that trade straight up! No one seems to be talking about that aspect, which i think kills the deal, because Titans need to fill holes, not lose picks.

  7. If Tenn. makes a trade with S.D. for Rivers, SD is going to want more than the number 2 spot. Rivers is a franchise QB. You don't give them away for a player who may not be ready to start right away. I think SD would want at least an additional 2nd rounder, and there is the rub. I can get Rivers and give away a 2nd rounder for a franchise QB, but Tenn. has tremendous holes, and Rivers has maybe 5 good years left. Everyway I look at it, Tenn. needs players, and they can get at least a couple of extra number ones, and let Metzenberger develop. If he does not, they they draft a QB next year, like Hackenburg.

  8. I love Danny Shelton also, and he would be a big piece of the puzzle for run stopping, but there lies the rub. Most think right now he is only a 2 down player. He may develop into a pass rusher, along the lines of Ngata, but right now everyone who I read has the same thought. Mayock thinks he may only play 40% of snaps. Lets say he plays 2/3 downs. A player like that should not go in the top 10. You need an every down player in the top 20. I have seen many drafts having him drop to 19 with Cleveland. I just don't believe he is worth the move up. I look at the kid from East Carolina, who Dusting thinks is a steal as a NT, and the Clemson NT, and I say those are more realistic.

My hope if for Malcomn Brown from Texas to drop.

  9. I may be wrong, but another thing I think adding to it is the offense has been highlighted so much in the NFL, and the pressure to score points is greater, so more pressure on the QB's. Yes you may get more penalties, but the QB's coming out of the spread these days being produced by college are throw to you first read, maybe second, or run. Anticiplation is an incredible skill to learn, along with pocket presence, and you see great athletes coming out, but not translating.

  10. I don't know if this has any impact, since I believe he easily goes first round, but the one knock I have heard about him is his weight, and will he be able to maintain it and take the beating. I think he played at a much lower weight in college, and when he came to the combine, he was 246 lbs. and then people worried it was too much. I don't understand the fascination with numbers at times. Look at the tape!

    He will go top ten!

  11. More would dilute the quality. The quality, intrigue of a season are directly proportional due to the fact each game matters so much. You put more games in, you dilute that. 16 games is perfect, and I don't want the playoffs to have another team, although that is going to happen.

  12. Vontae Davis seems like a pretty good building block for the defense to me, and was well worth the 2nd. Hard to find premeir corners on other teams, and snag them. Give him credit for that one. On offense, the OL is not great yet, but the skill players have all been solid, and Montcrief was a steal in the 3rd, and trading up for Hilton in the 3rd was a home run!

  13. Vontae Davis seems like a very good building block to me on defense, and takes the sting out of missing on Werner, who still may develop. I don't think many thought Davis would be available and was worth a 2nd, so I would say that is a pretty big chip in his corner.

  14. So

OL-Collins, TJ Clemmons or Cameron Erving. I prefer Lael or Erving. Lael due to power blocking and Erving due to interchangability.

If we don't get one of those, then BPA, Kendricks or best CB available. No safety is worth a first round pick, imho.

    Second depends on first.

If we don't get any OL, then go with Laken Tomlinson.

If we do get an OL, then go with Randall, who we would have to probably trade up to get or stay put and I would be

happy with Quentin Rollins-Huge upside, or Paul Dawson.

Third round, Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Daryll OT, Henry Anderson DT, or Gabe Wright DT

  15. If we are still having problem with LB's and have any money, Baltimore will wait to sign there FA's, as they always wait to see offers, and then look for the comps. plus I am surprised Lavonte David has not been extended. Many of these FA's won't be here after the summer, extensions are usually done in the summer, after June 1 cuts. Still would love Hightower. Would like Wagner more, but he is Seattle's highest priority to get resigned after Wilson.
