  1. PFF grades are not absolute, I agree. But his grades didn’t inch up, or go up a decent margin. Once Raimann figured it out, he graded out as a top-10 OT, not just LT but ALL tackles. That’s the kind of PFF grade you can rely on.
  2. Saying that very few people thought the Colts had their LT of the future is not much of a damning statement. Fans here won’t believe it until they see a larger sample size. And media rarely does that kind of deep dive on any given player. But those of us who followed that miserable season closely knew. Was Raimann terrible for the first half-ish of his rookie season? As bad as humanly possible. But once he figured it out, he was dramatically better, noticeably better. It was pretty shocking.
  3. Whether it was the last 1/3 or the last 1/2, whatever the timeline was, once the light went on, Raimann graded out as a top-10 OT the rest of the way. PFF reported that. The scouts said Raimann was smart and learned things quickly. At some point he certainly proved that.
  4. And, if I remember correctly, any signing after (I think) May 1st means it’s not figured into draft pick compensation; correct? So if the Colts are trying for Simmons/Diggs, it’s better if the deal is done post May 1, correct? Or am I mixing up issues?
  5. Ahhh…. Your memory is playing tricks on you. You knew in 2021 that Luck wasn’t ever coming back? Because it was either 22 or 23 that you predicted Luck was coming back. You even started a thread about it. I think the discussion here lasted about a week. I believe your “source” was a member of the local Indy media. I don’t mean to bust your ****s but there’s been a great deal of misinformation about Luck. Too much has gone unchecked.
  6. You continue to make the same basic argument that so many here do. They view young players as players who will not get better when the opposite is true. Brents should get better. So should Jones, so should Flowers. And the Colts are very likely to take a corner in the first 3-4 rounds. So the secondary WILL be better. Experience will make them better.
  7. I’d put the odds at less than 1 percent. Chris Ballard is going to give up a 2 to take a top WR is this draft? I don’t see it. I also doubt the Colts could move from 15 to 9 for just a 2, but that’s another story. I also don’t see Schrager better than Daniel Jeremiah and others. For a non-scout he’s good, but he’s not that good. Just my opinion.
  8. If you read his interview, Buckner and his wife absolutely LOVE the state of Indiana and the city of Indianapolis. They think it’s the perfect place to raise a family. They couldn’t say enough good things about it.
  9. I agree. Every year guys fall. And I’m not sure how I feel about this class? I’ve been saying for a while this is roughly a 4 round draft, roughly 150 really good players, but then it falls off. It’ll be interesting to see what Ballard does after 150. He has always found nuggets late. We mostly agree on this one….
  10. For what it’s worth… Both NFL.com and ESPN have the Big Three WRs (Harrison, Nabors, Odunze) about equal. Harrison is NOT viewed as clearly above the other two. If you value Harrison for the Colts connection family value, that’s another story. But, ability wise, the Big Three are roughly equal. Just FYI….
  11. I think we need and want the body because otherwise you’re down to two Y’s. And those two Y’s, Woods and Ogletree, both have question marks around them. Didn't the Colts have five tight ends on the final 53 roster last Sept? MAC Woods Ogletree Granson Mallory Also I think we put a Y, Pharough Brown (?) on the PS. So I think the Colts value a Y. Can’t we have these tight ends in the 53 again this year?
  12. So…. To extend this discussion…. There was talk here this morning about when to restructure. So if Ballard/Steichen like Mo but perhaps not so much the contract, is this the time (April/May) to try to restructure with a lower base and more in incentives?
  13. If the Colts cut Mo, they’d only have to replace him. And this is the wrong draft to do that. Now maybe there’s a cheaper version of Mo still out there in FA. I think that’s possible. I’m just not sure it’s likely. And Mo doesn’t have to be better than Mallory. He’s an F. I don’t see any overlap there. The Colts would still have Woods, who played zero snaps last year, or close to zero, and Igletree, and he might still get suspended by the league, or possibly cut by the team, though I personally doubt that. So I still believe Mo has a decent chance to stick. (Now watch him get cut soon!).
  14. I think Steichen likes MAC as well. One of the things working in MO’s favor is that (A) this is a terrible case of tight ends, and (B) year after year, colleges are not turning out many true Y-tight ends. Most of the tight ends coming out of colleges these days are F’s. This is why the Colts took Woods and Ogletree a few years back. The opportunity to draft two-Y’s was too good to pass up. That’s what Ballard and scouts said that draft weekend.
  15. I think it’s typically about a week or so before the draft. And I believe it’s typically on a Wed or Thur. This gives the two networks 2-3 days to hype the event, and then another week to talk the 32 schedules. I believe it’s 8p Eastern, but it might be 7p? We should be able to confirm later today. If I’m wrong, and I certainly might be, I’m sure I’ll be corrected.
  16. I’m not dismissing how much Stafford helps the offense. By the way, the no-name was a 5th round rookie. Puca Nakoa is no longer a no-name. But I doubt you’re going to try and make the argument that neither Marvin Harrison Sr nor Reggie Wayne wouldn’t have been Hall of Fame players without Peyton Manning? At least, I hope not. I think your argument paints yourself into a corner. But you might disagree.
  17. Kupp is not elite? The Rams say hello! They made Kupp the 6th or 7th highest paid WR in football when he got his big contract. So the Rams believe he’s elite. If they didn’t, they would’ve traded him to a team who thinks Kupp is elite and would give up valuable assets to get him. That hasn’t happened, because the Rams think he’s elite. Hello?! This isn’t the first time you’ve made this argument. It’s pretty much been crushed both times now.
  18. Yes, SM…. All true. But I owe you an apology…. What I meant to say is, I have no idea what Ballard will do IN THE DRAFT. Sorry. If I had included those three words it would’ve saved you all that time. My bad. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of taking a corner at 15, which would appear to be what 80-90 percent of the mocks predict. As we all know Ballard has never taken a corner high than 34. (Rock). Last year Ballard traded down twice from 35 to 44 before he took Brents and I think it’s possible that Ballard sees Juju as his CB1. Possible. But this season I find myself saying “anything is possible” more times than I ever have and I really HATE that expression! But I need to see Steichen’s influence on Ballard, and perhaps Ballard’s influence on Steichen. Until then, I won’t know if Ballard has changed any core values. So I’m very, very curious. Again…. Apologies I wasn’t more clear.
  19. About Luck being around Indy still. He has a home in Indy said to be 5-10 mins from the facility. He also has two other homes. One in Houston where he was raised and where most of his family still lives and one in the Bay Area just a few minutes from the Stanford campus. I don’t know which one he spends the most time in, but if I had to guess, it would be the Bay Area where he and wife Nicole met. But Luck LOVES Indy. I’m not surprised he’s often around.
  20. I hear ya. And I feel ya. I have no idea what we might do? I only know what I hope for….. 1. WR or PASS RUSH 2. PASS RUSH or WR 3. Corner 4. Safety 5. LB 6. OL or RB 7. RB or OL But I expect to be disappointed or maybe surprised is the better word on all 3 days of the draft. But I trust Ballard and Steichen together.
  21. Peyton had Marvin Harrison drafted in the 20’s and Reggie Wayne drafted around 30. They both became Hall of Fame players. You don’t have to trade up to find great talent. Just sayin….
  22. I looked up Pitts recently. He had a great rookie year when the QB throwing to him was Matt Ryan. His numbers fell off the last two years when the QB was Desmond Ridder. To me that’s the key difference, but your mileage may differ….
  23. One if the many problems with mick draft simulators is this…. A proposed trade down from 15 to 26, and the simulator gives you a 2nd this year and a FIRST next year?!?!? That isn’t the least bit realistic. It’s not even clear to me that you get a 2 only. You might not. You might only get a 3. But you’d never, ever also get a future first the following year. The 2 alone was the most you’d get. The people who program these mock simulators are terrible at trade compensation offers. They are rarely realistic. This is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Sorry, not blaming you. Just trying to offer context to the issue.
  24. Well…. I never liked him as a play caller or OC. Even at Stanford. Wasn’t happy when Indy hired him. As for what he did…. Way back when, around the time Luck came to Indy…. Stanford had two key assistants both going for the job of head coach at Vanderbilt. Pep was Stanfords OC and Derek Mason was Stanfords DC. Mason got the job. Everyone at Stanford was thrilled for him. Except Pep. Who didn’t say congrats at all. Pep’s public comment was that the job was offered to HIM but that HE TURNED IT DOWN!! Pep burned a lot of bridges that day. If he hadn’t, he’d likely still be welcome to coach at Stanford. But he’s not. Personally, I think the best thing he has going for him is he checks the box as a minority hire. Harbaugh has hired him a number of times. I think once at SF, and I believe TWICE at Michigan. But I don’t believe he’s been a full coordinator. He gets a title but with his responsibilities become less and less. I’ve sat on this story for more than a decade. Not sure I would’ve said anything if you hadn’t ask.
