  1. I would be surprised if Irsay’s ownership wasn't technically in a trust with him as trustee. Wealthy people use trusts to pass along assets without incurring inheritance taxes.
  2. If someone is found unresponsive, standard operating procedure in most places is to administer narcan as soon as they get on the scene. If it was an OD, narcan will usually help, if it's not an OD, nothing happens and they just keep on with the rest of their procedures. If I'm remembering correctly, what was pulled from the police report was just that Irsay was found unresponsive and narcan was administered, which local media jumped to the conclusion of a possible OD and ran with it. Based on the info about a nurse at his home giving him oxygen treatments and the low blood oxygen saturation level, it definitely sounds like a severe respiratory illness like covid, especially with him being a high risk individual. Here's hoping the OD news from Chap is wrong, but I feel like we'll get some concrete info in the coming weeks.
  3. At this point, it seems like pure speculation, especially because Philly has an OC at the moment and based on what happened this season, I don't see him getting a HC position. As for JBC, it wouldn't make sense to jump ship from Steichen that has solid job security with a team on the upswing for Siriani who would be lucky to not get fired this off-season and will absolutely be gone this time next year if he doesn't have a miraculous turnaround. If Brian Johnson is gone for whichever reason, I don't think JBC would even entertain an offer from Siriani. Granted the team would block it anyhow because its absolutely a lateral move (playcalling and Asst HC don't change that if I'm remembering correctly).
  4. A large majority of substance abuse/addiction stems from being prescribed prescription opioids and when the legal means of obtaining them dry up, illicit means become the avenue. Nobody wakes up and chooses to start using meth. Agreed. From my wife's stories (she has worked in inpatient and outpatient substance abuse facilities for almost a decade as a therapist), an addict that wants to use will find the means, manipulate everyone around them (usually unknown to the person being manipulated, and hide the drugs in places none of us would ever think to look. If true, his family could only do but so much. Nailed it. 100% agreed. Congratulations on your 7 years! I know it can't be easy, but that's incredible.
  5. It definitely is. I haven't had the type of experience with it that you have, but my wife is a substance abuse therapist, so I've learned a lot about it through her. Without going too deep, its an absolute beast and even people that want help struggle with getting and staying sober. Sorry to hear about what you and your family went through, but it's awesome to hear that your brother is 2 years sober and hopefully he can stay that way.
  6. I've been pretty high on him as well for exactly those reasons. He's our C of the future, could give Fries competition at RG in the meantime, and at the very least can provide depth at C, LG, and RG. I'd take him in the 2nd, maybe a trade up into the later part of the 2nd. If his medical check out, I'd jump on Payton Wilson in the 2nd. 6'4 243lb LB that flies around the field, is a tackling machine, and is great in coverage. He'll be at the Senior Bowl, so a solid chance his stock rises if he shows out.
  7. Since Ballard has confirmed Bradley will be back as our DC, we're done here.
  8. I absolutely agree and I think the antithesis of Gus Bradley is Brian Flores. If you look at what that defense was last year, then look at what Flores was able to do with largely no-name players this year, it's mind blowing. Flores is a DC that is able to mold his defense around the players he has and accentuate their strengths. While adding premium defensive players can always help a defense, the ceiling of ours with Bradley will always be limited by his stubbornness and lack of innovation. The Raven's game actually makes me more mad than anything else, because it shows that he's capable of adapting and being creative, but chooses not to be 95% of the time.
  9. I honestly don't see Vrabel hiring McDaniels as his OC.
  10. I don't expect any changes at LB coach or DB coach if Gus is retained. Gus, Richard Smith, and Ron Milus are a package deal. They've moved to multiple teams together and Gus said as much when they were all hired.
  11. In no world is this happening. Even with the full TE room, Bowers would be hard to pass on if he fell. I think Pittman wants to be able to field offers to give him leverage in contract negotiations, but unless he's demanding something crazy that we won't give and another team will, I see him back. Brian Thomas Jr is a solid prospect, but a bit of a different mold than Pittman. I think he'd be more of a Z like Pierce than an X. I'm definitely intrigued by how all of this will go down.
  12. If we don't keep Minshew, I'd love to bring in Tyrod Taylor. Great veteran presence, has starting experience and can steady the ship if need be, and is more in the mold of AR than Minshew so there wouldn't be as much of a schematic shift if he's needed.

    Needs?

He's an absolute liability in coverage and has had a ton of missed tackles (despite leading the league in tackles). I wouldn't draft 2 LBs though, just one. Assuming he passes medicals, Payton Wilson would be an absolute monster LB for us. Amazing in coverage, great in the run game, but can be a little too overaggressive at times. As I mentioned above, the pure stats don't tell the whole story, as Franklin has shown to miss a lot of tackles.
  14. The only issue I have with that is that Bradley's history says that even when he has had elite talent in the secondary, he hasn't done that.
  15. While I'm glad to hear that, I'd still draft Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon) as his heir-apparent. He's got LG & RG flexibility as well, so at a minimum would be solid depth until Kelly does end up retiring.
  16. I'm not entirely convinced that's what was being said. If it's something that's not in doubt, Steichen doesn't have a problem saying it. When there's not 100% certainty, he always sidesteps. I think there's a solid chance Gus is back, but I don't think his comments today were any sort of vote of confidence. Daboll just said this morning that he expected Kafka and Martindale to stay, while it was just announced that Martindale resigned. Coaches will say the safe, non-committal answer when they aren't sure. I'm not sure if having Myles Garrett on our DL would make a whole world of difference when our typically soft coverage allows some of the quickest time to throws in the league. I definitely think we could improve our pass rush, but I think the biggest improvement would be on the schematic side with our coverages and playing more press. I want to believe that we played less press due to the young secondary, but Gus' history says that that's just not his style anyhow. I saw a statistic somewhere that essentially said that we had the lowest blitzing rate on 1st and 2nd downs, but one of the highest on 3rd down. Not only do we not blitz often, but when we do, it's almost entirely on 3rd down, which goes back to Gus' lack of innovation and creativity. 100%
  17. Kind of wild that the Jags ended up with 4th and 2 with the game on the line, with an inaccurate throw ending their postseason hopes...just like us.

I would have liked a backup like Tyrod Taylor (slight bias since he's from where I live), but with knowing we'll have AR at the helm next season, it would make sense to bring in a backup that has a similar skillset.
  19. I don't know how to feel about Pierce since Minshew hardly looked his way when he was wide open, but I agree that he's limited in what he offers at this point. I wouldn't cut him by any means, but I also wouldn't pass up the opportunity to draft his replacement either.
  20. I'm really getting tired of Baker's terrible tackling. It tends to look like he doesn't want to initiate any kind of contact and that doesn't work for me.
  21. We needed to tie in that situation. a 4th down conversion was really iffy and Stroud is a QB that you don't want to give the ball back to down 3.
  22. We have to stop running out of that exact alignment/motion. At this point it's telegraphing the run and they've caught on. We need to pass out of that to catch them off guard.
  23. Absolutely. I hope to see a challenge when we get back from commercials. 100%. He had absolute control on how and where to hit Pittman. He should be gone.
