  1. But you know you want to see it 'J'...admit it....

..and Peyton is probably smoking the same stuff...

If he can practice..he can play....and the risk is the same now as it would be next August..

Of course he cant play NOW..but in 2 weeks??..what about Jan. 1?

Its not like he has to learn the offense..

Peyton isn't 100%. Both he and the doctor has said that. So the risk is greater now than next august. 2 weeks just is not enough time. He doesn't have to learn the offense but he has to regain a lot of timing back with his recievers. He still is doing his rehab and that is taking a lot of his time up. Just trying to get you to lower your high hopes. It's just not gonna happen. But Jan. 1 is a possibility of his return. I hope he is 100% and plays that game, but i don't think irsay would let that happen. Colts wouldn't let their players go undefeated but they probably will let their team go winless (which does make sense, no need to injure ur star player even if he is 100%. i do disagree with that thought if he is 100% b/c i want to win every game).

  2. And option C is Luck respectfully tells Irsay/Polian/whoever that he'd prefer to go to a team where he has a better chance of starting/playing right away. If that's his preference I don't see Irsay or Polian still drafting him. If they decided to play hardball then Luck could then play hardball back and refuse to sign a contract. If there's even an indication that would happen then why would the Colts still waste the #1 pick on him? If he says he won't sign then they'd trade the pick or they'd pick someone else.

I honestly don't see either side playing hardball with the other. Either Luck will be fine with being behind Peyton on the depth chart or the Colts will respect his preference to go to a team where he can play right away.

If Luck had no say in the matter then neither did Elway or Eli, yet they both got their wish and did not play for the team that originally drafted them. Luck does have a say in the matter.

What indications are these? As of now I haven't seen nor heard anything that suggests what he would do one way or another. The only thing I've heard come from the Luck camp is that he won't be returning to school in 2012. Other than that I haven't seen any mention of any draft day plans. I do recall mention that Oliver Luck has already requested information from the NFL as to what Andrew's options would be should he not want to be go to the team who tries to draft him.

**edit: I didn't mention the Oliver Luck point to prove that Andrew would not want to come to Indy. That was from before the draft picture started to clear up and at the time it still could have been a few different teams ending at #1 so I'm not in any way reading into this that Luck would refuse to come to the Colts. The point is though that they have looked into the possibility and that he would have leverage.

I was speaking more about Luck not being able to do anything about the situation after 2 years behind Peyton. People keep saying we'd keep Peyton for 2 years and then Luck would take over, which doesn't make sense to me. Peyton would still give you the best chance to win and his contract is so much cheaper those last two years. Some people seem to think that "a number one overall draft pick can't sit for more than two years, that you have to play him" . I was responding to that. Luck can't do anything at that point.

I completely agree with you that Luck doesn't have to sign with the colts, that he can do an elway or eli if he wanted. Or like you said, both sides could come to terms if luck didn't want to sit.

  3. I dont know why people act like teams wouldnt trade for manning. Every team with a great qb pays a lot of money for their qb. The pats are paying brady the same amount. Teams that want to win games would trade for manning. With that said manning isnt going anywhere. If we draft luck he will just sit for four years. Luck cant do anything about that.

  4. He risks his health whenever he goes back out there...That's not an issue...

If he's cleared to practice..he's cleared to play

Just dont throw away those tickets for the 22nd..

participating in practice n playing in a game are two different things. In a game he could get hit n hit hard. After listening to peyton it seems there is still a while till he plays again. That houston game is just too soon. Peyton hasnt been cleared to even throw a football yet.

  5. I just think elusive QB's do not work in the current NFL. What teams need are consistent leadership at the QB situation (ex. Colts, Packers, Patriots), but how can they provide that, as an elusive QB, if they're on the bench? Players are getting faster and stronger than ever before. Records are being smashed regularly. With the advent of passing threats comes defenses stacking guys with extra speed and fearsome pass-rushing packages.

What the Eagles need is a solid pocket passer who can remain upright.

i couldn't agree more. I think their season would have gone much better if they just an average qb who could make throws from the pocket. Someone like alex smith. They should really look at someone in this draft. They'll have a high pick and there are a lot of good qbs. They could get RG3 or Jones. RG3 would be really good there imo, since he is a pocket passer but he can run if you dare him to. He wants to throw it though, not run it so he is different than Vick. And he has Vick speed when he runs. That would also enable the eagles to still do what they want to on the offensive side.

  6. Dan played for a really bad Lions team, while I don't think we will win this weekend I am more wanting to see how the offense plays with him in there. The NE defense is not that good, so maybe with a good plan we can actually score some points.

NE defense is actually good. it gives up tons of yards but is 11th in scoring d. Points are what matters not yards. But like you i want to see him in there with the o. Sick of painter. Have a bad feeling dan is going to have nightmares of this game though...

  7. everyone (including me) assumes...The Colts will lose Sunday...

..so isnt Danny Orlovasky in a no-lose situation..

...He was 0-16 in 2008 with Detroit.. Indy is 0-11 and in danger of 0-16....

...NE doesnt have the greatest defense.....there will be plays out there he can make..

But beyond that...This guy has had a mediocre career and that's probably being kind..

Facing one of the biggest point spread gaps in the history of the NFL...not to mention defending MVP Tom Brady.. :brady: :brady: ..and evil NFL villan Bill 'Goldfinger' Belichek

Dan Orlovasky is four quarters away from being a true one night only legend of the game...

..(or he could be lose his job back to Curtis Painter Monday morning..)

Kinda like Rocky against Apollo Creed... :catfight:

Rocky was rootable. Dan is .... dan. NE give up yards but not points. It's not a completely no-lose situation because if dan loses this game and then loses the other 4, he'll be the only qb to ever be on a 0-16 team twice. that's a lose situation imo. But you are right, "Dan Orlovasky is four quarters away from being a true one night only legend of the game...", if he can win he'll be remembered forever. I hope he can do it. This is more like an ant going against Godzilla. Still this ant has a chance!

  8. Colfsfan..

..he WILL be cleared to practice soon.....there's no reason not to now

and again....there's a reason he's not on injured reserve..

they said he's making good progress. The nerves aren't all back yet. Until they are he should not practice. He is going to start to get into football shape though. When all his nerves are back or nearly all back, then i think they'll let him practice. He should practice at least two weeks before playing a game. the houston game is just way too soon.

But like i said, i still am hopeful he can play the last game. The reason is so that he can practice this season not play in a game. If he is on ir he can't practice at all. Peyton will try to play this season, but management might not let him.

  9. WE need to try to be like the Colts were for 10 years...

...but as fast as our D used to be..its not now..

We need premier atheletes on defense and a philosophical change to attack rather than bend-and-dont-break

small, undersized poor tacklers? we need bigger, more physical players. Agree with you in that philosophical change. We don't need premier athletes just guys who do their job on a consistent basis and can make real plays every now and then. Everyone criticizes the patriots defense, but they don't let the other team score. 11th in scoring defense and that's what matters. They may give up yards, but after the catch, they tackle. Most of the yards they give up too is after the game is already over. Really no one on the patriots d is a superstar, but they do their job, and buy into the system. They're successful like that mainly because of the coaching. Maybe when we get better coaching, our players wiil succeed better. Our cornerback play is horrible right now except for powers, the others shouldn't even be in the league.

  10. I say no Peyton, no. He hasn't even been cleared to practice yet. Way too soon for him to play. I was hopeful he could play the last game of the season if he got cleared to practice yesterday. But he didn't. Still, if Peyton looks good and feels great for Jan. 1, then i'm all for him playing the last game to save us from eternal embarassment. I wish that game was home and on primetime for Peyton's return, but the houston game is just too soon, not worth the risk.

  11. When you have Vick you always have a chance, and pending their health i think they have a valid shot at their division especially with the Defensive talent they have under contract, despite scheme change

vick was overrated. I think most people realized that this year. He had one really good year and that was last year. He cant last an entire season. He would need to win every game he did play for them to make the playoffs. Dont get me wrong he can be extremely dangerous at times but not consistently. He also isnt clutch. Truthfully i think after next year eagles will opt out of his contract. I think the eagles are in a period of transition/possibly-rebuilding stage.

  12. By "dancing" do you mean super bowl? Manning coming off a major procedure and rehab and not playing in a game for 21 months is going to lead his team to a SB with this bounty of rookies and whatever is left of a team that just went 0-16 the previous year?

And this humdinger, Manning is done for good and retiring, despite the fact that he is moving forward with his rehab and has stated that he hopes to play this year. I don't think he should or will play this year, but it sounds like you think you have some kind of exclusive insight into Manning's future. What the heck are you smoking? Both of these takes are ridiculous. The Eagles have proven this year that talent doesn't always equate to wins. Only time will tell if Manning will regain his strength in his arm. Listen to his doctors and the opinions of other doctors familiar with this procedure....he is expected to recover. It really bugs me when people shoot from the hip and spew nonsense like this so matter of factly. None of it makes a lick of sense.

we were just in the sb two years ago. Every year we went to the playoffs was b/c of manning so why would next year be different.

  13. well D. Jackson will be gone for sure thats almost written in stone, alot of talent on that team, but has battled injures, they will be fine next year

i dont think they will be fine next year. They dont have a healthy qb n are going to implement a new defensive system. They arent like us who can deal with a new d scheme b/c they dont have a hof qb. Eagles are in a rebuilding situation.

  14. I live outside philly and watch all the eagles team. Their team is in ruin. If you want to see a team whose players have quit just watch them. Jackson is gone after this year or he will be franchised and then traded. Andy is most likely gone. The few bright spots on the team is lesean mccoy. A beastly runner who is a stand-up guy. Handles the media well and goes out and plays ball every week.

  15. MAybe he wasn't there because it was bad news, and he is depressed? I hope not.

I don't think so because Wayne joked around about maybe tomorrow they'll find out. Manning is Wayne's future paycheck from the colts. If manning goes, wayne has no chance at the big pay day he wants from the colts after this year, so if manning was hurt i think we could tell from wayne's expressions. Plus, Manning isn't one too just mope around and hide. He'll hide from media because they annoy him and he likes his privacy but he won't hide from just having to speak the truth.

  16. As much as I would hate to see Manning risk further injury this season by playing, wouldn't it be freakin' sweet if they said nothing until Sunday only to have Manning lead the team out onto the field? That would be insane.

It would be....I'd give anything to see that...The looks on the Hoodie's and the Golden Boy's faces would be pricless.

    Too bad it won't happen.

I still have hope though Peyton will start for us last game of the season and save us for eternal embarassment.

    In Peyton We Trust

  17. Thank you. I have never understood why so many people seem to think this guy is so great. Was he a good athlete? Absolutely, but I get tired of hearing how awesome he is/was. I never thought that he was all that great, personally. He has a bad attitude in my opinion.

    Your Welcome :)

Best way to describe McNabb is that he lacked that competitive spark which the great qbs have (Manning, Brady). That and the fact the ground was his favorite target with his throws.

  18. I feel for you buffalo34. I despise the jets almost a much. I'd rather see Brady with SB rings on every finger and toe before the jets (or saints) get another one.

Your season started out so well; I was rooting for you guys to go all the way. Hang in there. At least you're not 0-11.

Don't think such a horrendous thought as "Brady with SB rings on every finger", let alone type it.

Hating the jets is fine, but your comment was out of bounds. For shame, for shame .

  19. Elway left on top, he still elite?

Welker is not underrated in the slightest. Welker just does't play the same position as everyone else. Welker is dictated by matchup not talent. Wes Welker will never be a #1 WR. Jennings, while good, still cant perform at the levels of Fitz/Calvin/Andre, and thats playing with arguably the best QB in the NFL right now.

And while were on the subject, Freeney over the last 7 years, doesn't even have the most sacks on the Colts, let alone the NFL. Allen alone has 28 more sacks. Peppers has more and he had a 2.5 sack season in there. Freeney couldn't hold Allens lunch.

ok you did not seriously compare elway's 13 years of not playing to peyton's almost 1 year. Welker dominates and that's all that matters. A-rod is playing so well because he has the best recieving core in the game, and possibly one of the best of all time. Jenning's is also a better route runner than calvin. Both can jump up and catch the ball way over the defender's head though.

  20. Peyton,Tony G, Reed, no one knows if they are going to continue performing at elite level. Heck, all 3 could be retired at the end of the year. So therefore I made my list based on now and moving forward.

Yes some can be elite, but when you are putting people like Finnigan/Grimes/Porter in the same 'Elite' class as Revis/Woodson/Nnamdi?!!? Thats pure lunacy. And the same can be said with the rest of your position rankings. Fred Jackson in the same class as AP? Welker/Jennings same as Fitz/Andre/Calvin? Freeney/Mathis same page as Allen? Not even remotley. All those players you listed are good, but elite? Come on.

Until there is reason and not conjecture to say peyton wont perform at his elite level, he is still elite. Troy n ed still are playmakers. With the cb position, revis and woodson are so much better than the rest they cant define the elite position. Guys like nnamdi and dinnegan define the elite position better. Welker is so underrated. He catches 100+ balls every season and converts 3rds downs better than anyone. Jennings is amazing. Physical, great jumping ability and is a mismatch against most cb. While i am disappointed in freeny and mathis this year and think overall they are not hof worthy im not gonna say they arent elite. The two have been in the top stats for sacks and ff over the last seven years. Elite means about 5-6 players who are the best.

  21. Fans don't have to since all of the scouts are the ones that calling Luck the best prospect in a decade or so and have been saying this for sometime. ( not a flavor of the month, Ryan Leaf kind of hype)

that is the whole problem with luck. Every analyst built him up as the goat last year and now this year no one is willing to reevaluate him. Not saying luck isnt good but from closely watching him this year he looks to just be a good qb. Not a hof like everyone makes him out to be.

  22. Mcnabb is going to go the bears and possibly take them to the playoffs. I think that is a pretty good gig. And as someone who has lived in philly and watched every eagles game, mcnabb was really overrated in the national media.

  23. Yea, I have 31. And frankly, Im ashamed. I probably should have left FS off entirely, as well as Peyton.

    You two have 101.

I 100% can not put that many people into the 'Elite' range.

elite doesnt mean hof. There are elite players at each position. Elite means you are the best of the best of your peers. There is no way you can leave off peyton. And how can u possibly leave off safeties from the list. Some of the guys playing are some of the best football players ever (like reed and troy).
