Mathis - Free Agent

Bethea - KEEPER

No actually he rode on Mannings coat tails. Painter drove the bus.
Actually, Bill Polian drove the bus... Over Curtis Painter and Jim Caldwell...

That was always something OSU did well. Would Tressel lower himself enough to be a Special Teams Coordinator?
-
I predict a Harbaugh family reunion in Lucas Oil Stadium on February fifth.

Everyone please calm down. It has been dealt with by our wonderful moderators. I'm sure if you continue like this, there will be further interventions.
Let's please continue a friendlier conversation!

I remember Dallas on Mario as a miss, and the Chicj instance may be correct, but I didn't include any 3-4 DEs (jj watts for instance) and there were several who recorded sacks against us, some of which I suspect was on AC. So are they 'exact', not at all, at this time I can only go off the stat sheet. But I'd venture to say they are pretty darn close.
If only missed blocks were a recorded statistic... This would all be MUCH easier!
-
All those guys are the ones listed as lining up infront of AC. And I distinctly remember about 10 of them. So i'm fairly confident that they are pretty close. Its def. double digit in only 12 games.
The Mario Williams ones for instance. He had two sacks against us in week one. At least one was where he DOMINATED Dallas Clark off the edge.
In the Jacksonville game, I remember John Chick rushing against Linkenbach and getting two sacks off our Right side.
I think some of those were on other players.
-
He played pretty well...I don't see any All Pro's, or even Pro Bowls in his future, but he looks to be a starter for the next 10 years.
As for sacks. Just going off the sheet.
2 to Mario, 1 to James Harrison, 1 adrian clayborn (rookie), 1 Micheal Johnson, 3 Chick/Mincey, .5 Johnson, 1 ninkovich, 3 Suggs, 2.5 Mincey.....
So he allowed about 15 sacks this year. In 12 games. The 4 games he missed, our LT gave up about 1.5 sacks to KC/Cin/NO/Tenn in that time..
So after looking at this, I think he still has a lot of growing to do.
Are you positive all of those were AC's fault? I remember some of those sacks being busted plays by TE's and RB's.

You know as many people as were chanting Suck for Luck........I'm surprised but it seems like most fans want the Colts to trade
Doesn't it make you proud to think how many people like the Colts?

It was a valid point if we were talking about Curtis Painter. It's not a huge benefit to Peyton Manning. Again Any restructuring will have to come with some benefit to Manning, and that could still cause issues later.
Example of this would be a no trade clause, or an agreement on what we do with the draft pick.
I don't see a valid logical reason for Manning to agree to push the bonus date back.
Maybe a "keep Jim Caldwell" clause?
-
That would suggest that another team wouldn't welcome his services...
That would suggest he wants to play for another team...
-
Any restructuring will have to come with some benefit to Manning, and that could still cause issues later.
Staying employed could be considered a benefit. I would rather risk Peyton hitting free agency than pay the option bonus he is set to make. We do have leverage with Luck.
-
Polian created this monster and when it ran out of gas, he got caught with his pants down, and dictators don't deserve to survive failure.
Ha! So many metaphors!
let me get this straight...
Bill Polian (the dictator) created the current Colts team (a GAS-powered monster) in order to hold up his pants?
I do agree with your point, though. Death to the pants-less dictators!
-
You let Manning walk or trade him it would go down as the biggest mistake Irsay ever made and Luck will never be able to live up the expectations that will be set.
Expectations? We have a chance to draft Luck for a reason. We are a 2-14 team. Expectations should be pretty low.
Everything would depend upon the terms of the trade or the timing of the release.
-
There is no circumstance in which Jim Caldwell should be retained as Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
Not even if pre-game coin tosses are replaced with head coach staring contests?
-
It can be pushed back but there is no logical reason for Manning to push it back. Why help the Colts and harm the future team, when he's a free agent if they fail to pick up the option bonus?
In my opinion he's either a Colt for the next 3 years or he's a free agent this year.
I'll take that a step farther...
In order to stay a Colt, he will have to restructure his deal before the option bonus is paid out.
-
I am sure "he" made it pretty clear Manning cannot be traded in his analysis..
"traded" yes
Not picking up the option bonus, should sever all obligations we owe to Manning.
-
Check out my thread "I am going to clear this up" FireJimCaldwell broke it down every year!
I'm pretty sure he (FireJimCaldwell) is talking about trading him after we pick up the option bonus. If we decline the option bonus, there should be no CAP hit. That is only the impression I have been given by the media, though.
-
As our Capologist FireJimCaldwell has posted, the Colts stand to save $6 Million if Manning is cut. Not much of savings..
What would the 2013 savings be?
-
You just posted a thread in here that said, Manning and Luck cannot co-exist, now you are saying it is not sensible to trade Luck?
He's a Lions fan. He has no loyalty to Manning. It's the smart business decision to cut Peyton before the bonus kicks in.
-
Not in the slightest, but then again I haven't read it since probably 1981. What are you referring to?
It sounds to me like Polian was running the Colts organization like it was Oceania...
A fear-based society...
-
Anyone else reminded of the novel "1984" by George Orwell?
-
Just a philosophical question: Who is more uptight, the guy using exclamation points all the time or the guy jumping on him over it?
-
I can certainly understand the logic behind that... but I wouldn't go Martin DeCastro... I think quality O linemen can be had later in the draft and would only take Kalil with the #4 pick!
Yes, but Kalil will probably not last to #4. The only possibility I see for that would be us trading to Cleveland:
Cleveland - Luck
Rams - Blackmon
Miami or Washington (traded from Vikings) - RGIII
Colts - Kalil

More than I would enjoy Collins or Painter!
I will from now on refer to you as the Curtis Painter of the message boards!
