  1. I also specifically hate that they'll take Irsay's, Peyton's words a twist them to mean the opposite of what's said.

That's only because noone truly knows what Irsay is saying. A lesser mind would explode if it knew HALF of what Irsay was thinking!

  2. For me the hiring might mean they have some confidence in retaining Peyton Manning for at least one more year, since they have not yet fired the OC and they are hiring a previous DC as HC to focus on the defense. I don't know, these are crazy days and anything can happen.

I agree. The need for a great OC depends more on Peyton Manning's health. If he's unhealthy, retain him as an offensive consultant and hire a good OC. If he's healthy, start him and name an OC who won't get in his way (someone who excels in offensive lines, hopefully).

  3. Notice how NOWHERE in there did it say the Pats asked for the change, it's the league protecting their stars

So (just for the sake of argument) this could be seen as:

The league proactively protects Tom Brady and the Patriots by establishing rules to disallow hitting Tom Brady (other quarterbacks have taken similar hits and suffered similar injuries, but no rules were put into place with THEIR names on them).

Meanwhile the Colts have to argue and complain just to get the officials make the proper calls (according to already established league rules) for our wide receivers.

(I also fixed your grammer a bit)

  4. You know what's amazing? We made it through Colts vs Pats weak almost flawlessly...there were few if none Brady vs Manning threads...the hate seemed to subside and it was one of the easier weeks here we've ever seen.

Only now, when the Patriots are in the Superbowl, a game which has nothing to do with the Colts, do the Brady vs Manning threads start back up and the rivalry reverts back to 2004.

    ¡Viva la Rivalidad!

I don't personally hate Tom Brady, it's more of a grudging jealousy/respect. I see Tom Brady as what Peyton Manning could have been with a defense and aggresive coaching. It's impossible to place one above the other in anything other than opinion, but it's still fun to debate.

We Colts fans should team up with the incoming Giants fans punch every Patriot supporter right in the mouth be it man, woman, or child. This will make them think twice about coming to our humble city to win a title. Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way.

In all seriousness Peyton is not the GOAT..and neither is Brady. If we want to see who's better between them, then set the criteria first and compare.

Please tell me this was sarcasm?

    Patriot fans,

Please don't judge all of us Colts fans based on the above post! :ashamed:

  5. And Marino played during an era where CBs, LBs, and safeties could mug WRs and TEs.

Now, partially thanks to the Colts, if you breathe on a WR, you get penalized.

Different times, different outcomes, and yet Marino STILL did what he did during a time that was much more difficult for a QB than these days.

    I have to agree...

Marino would TORCH the defenses teams use today. Statistics do not compare across eras.

    ALL HAIL PEYTON MANNING!

  6. Here's where your argument completely falls apart.

Colt fans like to claim that Brady couldn't do what Manning did.

That argument COMPLETELY died in 2007. What Brady has done since then is, in my opinion, more impressive.

    He's thrown more TDs.

    He's thrown less INTs.

He threw this season more yards than anyone else prior to this year in NFL history, and just barely beaten out by Brees this season.

Tom Brady has done things statistically that Peyton HAS NOT DONE. He's also led his team to a higher winning percentage, more playoff wins, etc.

Peyton's a great, great QB. It's just unfortunate for him that he's playing at a time when there's been a guy a bit better.

He has done all of that playing for a coach who likes to run up stats on other teams and tries to get his players statistical records (see what he did with Gronkowski at the end of the year?). Peyton set his records while playing for the begining of a game, building up a ridiculous lead, and being taken out of the game as soon as it was decided. Tom Brady was still playing when they were up 30+ points against the Titans! What was there to prove at that point?

Peyton Manning still had the better year according to passer rating (a way to rate how good passers are? CONVENIENT ISN'T IT!). Brady has yet to beat that.

  7. The entire NFL has moved past this debate. The only people who still think Manning is better are Colts fans. That should tell you something.

Manning is great, one of the all time greats, but not the best.

If that is truly the case, why do so many Patriot fans feel the need to jump onto a Colts forum and debate it? Why go out of your way to argue something as trivial (and already decided in your mind) as who the better quarterback is. All your arguments are proving is how great Peyton Manning is.

You show us lists upon lists of stats of how great Tom Brady is, and yet people still think Peyton Manning is a better quarterback. Your statistics are just proving how great Tom Brady is, but he will still never match Peyton Manning as far as how much he contributes for his team.

  8. Just come down to the south and you will see just how wrong you are...

Ha! You may have unwittingly hit the answer in this post. If you live in the SOUTH, you are more than likely an SEC fan (or ACC based on the 'Canes avatar). SEC fans (and ACC fans) don't seem to like BIG TEN people. Living in the South, more people are likely to dislike Tressel.

  9. You're just throwing out random names without even taking into account if said coaches have the same ideologies, philosophies or ties. You say you want Zimmer as head coach and Spags as D coordinator? That doesn't even make sense. Those two run totally different systems, and I imagine Zimmer (being a defensive coach) would want to bring his own staff on board, making the need for a big time D coordinator unnecessary, ruling Spags out.

And Mike Martz (and his 7-9 step dropback route combinations) for O coordinator, when we have a poor pass protecting line and a QB fresh off a serious neck injury? Yeah.... that makes perfect sense [/sarcasm]

What is so different about Zimmer and Spags ideologies or schemes (this is purely hypothetical since Spags agreed to join the Saints)? They both run defenses based on a high-motor front seven with the ability to get pressure up the middle. They both run defenses based on the PERSONNEL THEY HAVE rather than set schemes! If they were both to find themselves running the same defense, I bet they would have more ideas in common than not. Our new head coach (Zimmer in this case) is meant to be brought in as a LEADER, just like Grigson has said MANY TIMES. He will not have time to make every decision about our entire defense. Our Defensive Coordinator will have many decisions to make on his own, and having someone talented making those decisions would be a good thing. Talent is NEVER unecessary!

As for Martz, our O-line is going to be the same "poor pass protecting line" no matter who we have as an offensive coordinator. Martz and Peyton (or Luck) would be able to create enough time for our players to get open. If Peyton can't handle the hits after his surgeries, HE SHOULD NOT STEP ON THE FIELD.
