To the OP yes, as I wrote this in another thread a few days ago! I like Kalil if he was available after a trade down, Ijalana could play Guard, I have been saying this and get a lot of crap for it! Guess what everyone Polian is gone, a new GM may determine the Colts can't pass on a LT like Kalil, of course if he is sitting there after a trade down!
We could even trade back (Cleveland scenario again...), and possibly get Jonathan Martin at 4 and David DeCastro with Falcons pick.
Line would be:
Martin, DeCastro, Pollack, Ijalana, Castonzo
(assuming Saturday and Diem retire)

So your saying the Browns believe Luck to be as good as Manning and thats why they will do it?!
It's not just the Browns. Half the league and ALL of the media seem to have that impression.
-
So Cleveland is only Luck away from being a good team? They don't need any other position? No RB/WR/OL/DL/DBs, only QB for the next 3+ years? In that division. Thats what you think Mike Holmgren wants to do? In Cleveland, the town scorned by Couch/Quinn? All this ASSUMING they want Luck over RG3/Moore/Landry/ or Matt Flynn. You are really stretching.
Im sick of the Falcons being thrown around as an example. the Falcons believed they were 1 player away from a SB. That player was Julio. What team thinks they are a rookie QB away from a SB?!?! Entirely different circumstances.
Weren't we, as Colts, just a Peyton Manning away from being a good team? If Luck reaches his potential, he will be THAT kind of a difference maker.
And if the Browns believe Luck is eventually going to be good enough to take a bad team to the superbowl, why shouldn't they go get him? They can still build through low draft picks and free agency.

cant have Martz with Manning...wont work...different offenses..
Cant cut both garcon AND Wayne...you cant replace both
...Freeney (apparently $19 on the cap next year) must rdstructure toi get Mathis back...
Somebody has to go and its probably Gary Brackett.
What is it about Martz's offense that clashes with Manning?
-
RG3 wouldve taken them in the endzone for a TD lat night Im sure of it instead of settling for a field goal
That wasn't what they were trying to do. They were trying to run down the clock and kick a field goal for the win at the last second. A touchdown would have defeated the entire purpose.

I ment we all think we would make some excellent decisions! I trade the Luck pick if I am the GM and Peyton is healthy.. there would be quiet a few new players on this team, but mainly on the defensive side of the ball!
I would read the fan forum and get my ideas from there...
-
I think I would make some excellent decisions... but don't we all!
I disagree... I have a tendency to make TERRIBLE life decisions (my wife (NOT a terrible decision!) says I'm immature). My luck seems to carry me through, though!

I am pretty sure most people in NFL front offices, had to work their way up... would this be that absurd to suggest?
It seems to me that most are either former players or relatives of front office people. I guess talent rises no matter where it starts, but it would be hard to get noticed. That's a 20 year plan you have, but I wish you good luck!

1) I would look for Mike Zimmer to be head coach, with Mike Martz as offensive coordinator.
2) Brackett, Clark, Freeney - cut who you can't trade or restructure
Wayne, Mathis, Garcon - let walk whoever won't sign for decent CAP deal
3) look for DT or guard free agent. Look for SS or CB free agent
4) Draft Luck followed by - SS or CB (whichever not gotten through FA) - DT or guard (whichever not gotten through FA)
5) Ask Manning to restructure (very politely)

That's why i want the tradedown. He might last until the 25th selection.
Ha! We thought you meant we should take him with the #1!
We don't know who has the 25th selection at the moment. Is that where you think the Falcons will end up (pick owned by the Browns)?
-
Do you think Jim reads these Blogs?
Ha! We're debating that already. Do you think it helps your case if he does? Kidding!

No it makes brilliant sense for us to trade the pick. It makes ZERO sense for any other team to attempt to get that pick from US.
I agree that Mia/Sea/Wash need QBs, maybe even Clev/KC. But they all have other needs to, just like us. So why would it make sense for us to trade the pick and rebuild, but that doesn't make sense to those teams?
The question is whether we are REBUILDING or RETOOLING. Rebuilding makes Manning redundant, and retooling makes Luck redundant.
I, personally, want us to draft Luck; but our QB situation will be overkill for the next few years.
-
Yes,i know that alot of people would be angry,if we selected him(DD),especially if we didn't tradedown.
Selecting him with the #1 overall would just be irresponsible. The #1 is worth a LOT of value, and David DeCastro could be had for much less. Unless Jim Irsay wants to become the new Al Davis, DeCastro will never be a #1.
-
If Manning is healthy it makes zero sense to trade the pick? Really? Paying two starting NFL caliber QB's makes zero sense! Having over $20 million of a cap hit from the QB position makes zero sense! It's Luck or Manning not both!
I wish we could "loan" out players like they do in soccer. We retain his rights, but let him play and gain experience for another team (at a price).
-
I think double d is a certain lock for the H.O.F.(If healthy). He's a better prospect than luck and a safe pick.
You'd have a hard time finding people who agree with you on that one. It's difficult for a guard to even be considered for Canton.
-
I second that.My draft pick is in,and i'm going with David DeCastro,after a tradedown.I'm going with a certain H.O.F. imo.
He's good, but to call him and not Luck a "certain hall of famer" (especially since Luck is seen as a better prospect for his position) seems a little wrong to me.

About what
Ha! What were we talking about again?

In the vast majority of the nation....skill players zip through the defense
like the secondary stumbles like rejects from 'Dawn of the Dead'
Ha! You must mean the original Romero version. The remake of Dawn had zombies that had some hustle!
I believe you are right though. Offenses seem to be more glamorous in the eyes of kids (except for kids in the South and American Samoa); so, if given their choice, kids would rather play on offense.

RGIII will continue to rise, especially through the combine, and writers will try to make a story out of "who will the colts take?" There is no controversy here, and the media CAN'T STAND IT.
-
The " " shows up on my end but not on the thread...strange
I see it in all the posts...

the defense in college football is so bad its embarassing...
Every QB throws for 300 yards
Secondary players tackles like cheerleaders and players rountinely tip over their own feet trying to cover anyone..
I appreciate that you pit your best athletes on offense and the lesser athledes on defesen (like high school)
but coaches dont even seem to be upset that theyre' giving up 42 points a game
You should watch more of the SEC... ENTIRELY different mindset!

Vikings are very good contenders.
But I think they will go with Robert Griffin III.
I think the rams will go for an offensive lineman or a second qb. But I don't think they will draft a QB in the 1st.
They might get Kellen Moore in the 3rd or 4th round.
But yeah, Blackmon might even go in the top 5.
The Vikes staff likes Ponder, so I doubt they will go for RGIII (more likely to get a FA veteran to help him progress). I see them getting Blackmon or trading to a team wanting RGIII.
I see the Rams getting Kalil, and waiting to get a WR later (pretty deep class for WR's).

The main resemblance I noticed was the tie to a bad kicker...

That's absolutely not true when those million minds know far less, per person, than the one mind in question. It's like multiplying fractions: the number gets progressively smaller and messier.
Ha! That's true, but he can always filter out the garbage. It's not like he has to take EVERY post seriously. He's smart enough to know how to skim through the dook...
Are All These "experts" Who Say Andrew Luck Is The Next Great Thing The Same Guys Who Said Cam Newton Would Be A Complete Bust?

Yes, but Kalil will probably not last to #4. The only possibility I see for that would be us trading to Cleveland:
Cleveland - Luck
Rams - Blackmon
Miami or Washington (traded from Vikings) - RGIII
Colts - Kalil
