COLTFAN4LIFE!!!! You have a chance of winning if you send me screenshot of who you picked on Week 13.

It's going to be Flying Elvis and Shecolt for the win this week.

It looks like I may be destined to be one of the runner-ups again this year.  :(

But, I don't mind losing to Flying Elvis as he has played this game with great sportsmanship by always picking the Colts.

Ironically, if I had done the same; I would be one game ahead of him.

And, I think that special Colt's avatar that Flying Elvis will win will look much better on his profile than mine. ;)

    Anyhow, here are my pics:

  2. Nice try, MAC, but I’m a Patriots fan first and always will be, not just a fan of an individual player.  Same thing can be said for most Patriots fans.  I’m sure there are some “fans” that became fans in 2001 and will exit the minute Brady and Belichick hang it up and there’s a losing season, but those are exceptions, not the rule.

On Patriots boards, people criticize Brady when he has a bad game or makes a bad play.  There were even a lot of “Is Brady all done?” threads by normally rational posters when he was struggling to find chemistry with his receivers the first half of the season.

Compare that to some Colts and bandwagon Broncos fans.  There were actually Colts fans on this board during the Broncos/Colts week saying either they were torn on which team they wanted to win, or were going to root for the Broncos.  If Brady was traded to another team and we faced his team, most fans wouldn’t be torn at all since he’d be on a new team, and the bandwagon fans would be long gone anyway.

That’s the difference between being just a fan of an individual player and being a fan of a team.  I like watching Brady and am a fan of his, but even though I don’t root for Peyton, I can openly admit he’s on Brady’s level.  Unfortunately, a lot of Peyton fans are so obsessed with Peyton, and in some cases switched fanbases and started watching the Broncos, that they’re threatened by Brady’s mere presence in the league.  It’s not enough that Peyton gets his press; it’s that he’s the only one who gets the press and that he can do no wrong on the field.  That’s what I mean when I refer to the sick obsession some of his fans, analysts and announcers have with him.  A poster on here was * that some people in the media think Brady is worthy of MVP votes.  Peyton’s going to win the MVP going away, and deservingly so, but he’s so bitter that Brady’s found success in the second half and wants Peyton to win unanimously.

I’ll openly admit that I wouldn’t even be discussing this topic at all, or on this board, if I didn’t have respect for Peyton.  It’s some of his fans and the media that I get a laugh out of.  If he never takes another snap in his life, he’s still one of the greatest QBs ever to play.  I personally don’t think there’s a unanimous GOAT or ever will be like there is with Michael Jordan and basketball.  There’s a short list of the all-time greatest and from there it’s just opinion.  You put a bunch of people in a room and everyone’s going to have differing viewpoints.

Btw, I don’t mean to sound like I’m taking jabs at ALL Peyton fans.  I realize there are fans of his on this board included who appreciate what he did for the Colts but realize he had and has flaws.  I’m more talking about the intention of the original post, to desperately try to say “Hey, see, someone who claims he’s a Pats fan used sabremetrics to justify Peyton’s playoff record” and people like Jim Nantz, of whom there are several dozen.  Remember John Madden with Brett Favre?  That’s what a lot of the football media and his fans sound like to non-Peyton fans.

As for the playoffs, I don't think there's a clear favorite in the AFC.  The only team I don't see having a chance of making the SB is the Dolphins if they won the 6 seed.  Yes, I realize they beat the Pats but that was in Miami and they've struggled in Miami even back in the 01-04 days.  Pats/Broncos/Colts/Chiefs/Bengals/Chargers/Ravens are all capable of winning 2 or 3 games to get to the SB.

For years, I have had to read posts on Colt's boards made by Patriot fans to tell us how much better Brady and the Patriots are than Peyton and the Colts.  One board became so overran with Patriot fans that it no longer exists due to a mass exodus by Colt's fans who were sick of it.

I have listened to Patriot fans who give Brady all the credit for 3 SBs and no blame for 2 SBs.

I recently read a thread on a Patriot forum where Patriot fans are taking shots at Peyton and expressing their displeasure and bitterness with him breaking the TD record.

And, now you are here to tell us how much better Patriot fans are than Colt fans???  That's disgusting.

  3. Thanks VL. I'm not saying what I am saying just to be cruel, vicious, or sadistic. I take no pleasure from pointing out 18's swift post season exits. Peyton just needs to leap over a few Playoff hurdles 1st. Greatness is not handed down like a bloodline or the Divine Right Of Kings. It must be displayed, demonstrated, & earned season after season & while it is true that no QB is solely responsible for a defeat every field general can do things that prevent a loss too.

I cannot exonerate Manning of Playoff miscues anymore. Elite QB play is seen, felt, & heard...Legacies are built in the post season: Either you finish the job you are expected to or you don't. Simple as that.

I just don't understand.  You sound like you want Peyton to do well and leap over playoff hurdles.

Yet, before the season even started; you said that you hoped the SB came down to the Patriots vs. the Saints.

The two do not compute for me.

Perhaps, I am just a lost cause.  :sigh:

  4. Great O Susie and special teams. But defense is what wins in the playoffs. Tough to beat a team for a third time in any season and the Bengals can score and play D. I don't think Denver loses either game but it will be tough for them to stop those teams with no Miller. That was my main point.

I think Rodney Harrison would be in complete agreement.  ;)

  5. I am really so very sick    of everyone  :deadhorse: and I feel like  :hairout:

    I hear you and concur.

Sadly, it's been this way for a long time dating way back to my days on the IndyStar board  . . . which no longer exists.

As much as I hate to think of Peyton and Brady retiring, I do hope such conversations will then lessen.

But, I suppose it will then turn into fans telling us why their favorite QB is better than Luck.  :sigh:

  6. Brady threw 50 touchdowns against a strong schedule and the best defenses in the entire league (Steelers, Ravens, Jets, Giants, etc). He also blazed a war path through everyone and went undefeated.

Manning threw 51 against NFL bottom feeders who couldn't play defense to save their lives. His team also lost to every post season team outside Kansas City which is as much a play off fraud as the Broncos are.

Considering it's been obvious from week 2 onward that the entire purpose of Denver's 2013 season has been to break that record, I could honestly care less about it.

Everybody knows Peyton is going to wilt in the play offs, so nobody really cares about his 51 except for Colt and Bronco fans grasping for validation.

haha  For someone who says they could honestly care less about it . . . the Patriot fan doth protest too much, methinks.

But, thanks for the laugh and I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

  7. Thanks shecolt   . . . this is a big help . .. and also I forgot to thank your for showing me how to post pictures a few days back . .. thanks again for both . . . and hope you enjoy and have great Holidays . . .

You're welcome! I enjoy being able to help others and thank you for not being upset with me for the "pic" I gave for you to practice posting pics.  That was very ornery of me.  :nono:

I also hope that you and yours have a very, Merry Christmas.

  8. Sorry but I don't know how to quote multiple times so will just response with one. . .

    It's really very easy.

Next to the "quote" button, you will find a "MultiQuote" button.

Click on the "MultiQuote" button for each post that you would like to respond to in your post.

To the right, you should then see a black box that will contain the words . . . Reply to 2 (or 3, or 4, etc.) post(s).

Click on that black box and the multiple quotes should appear for your reply.

  9. Nah, nothing like that. It is a play on my real name and my online name here. Just blue and that is all. A mod asked me not to use :36dancing: which I like better because the shades sort of match my picture. I am happy even with I point out something negative or positive.

Ok, but don't be surprised when others find your overuse of one emoticon to be annoying and obnoxious.

May I suggest that you put your favorite emoticon in your signature . . . that way it would be there to indicate how happy you are whether you are posting something negative or positive without grating on the nerves of others.

  10. Haven't you read the thread where most people still think Richardson was worth the number one pick? The Colts were completely fleeced by the Browns.  :D

What is it with you and your habitual use of one emoticon?

    :D indicates happiness or pleasure.

Does your opinion that the Colts were fleeced by the Browns make you happy?

  11. These are Pereira's tweets that I "think" related to the call that prompted this thread:

That was a bang-bang play in KC - in real time, you have to stay with the call there

Nothing in the rule book talks about how many steps -- it's maintaining control long enough to perform an act common to the game.

Replay would stay with whatever was called on the field. It's THAT close.

  12. Free world. You can disagree. I didn't find it contrived or forced at all. But then again most of the people that had issue with it on this thread do not like Brady or the Pats so I would expect them to make any type of flimsy argument possible to try their best to dismiss it.

This reminds me of someone who took issue with Rodney Harrison comparing Peyton to Brady.

  13. Geez, there's only one right answer, and it's the same for any team that makes the playoffs.

    Yes.

If you buy one ticket to the lottery, CAN you win?

    This ^

The OP's question was worded "can" so the only the right answer is yes.

Had the question been worded with "will", I would have expected varied votes.

Two little words, but the meaning is vastly different.

  14. I'm sitting here remembering the clip of all the "experts" who said that there was no way the Colts would win SB XLI.

At the time, I didn't think they would either; but I had hope.

How anyone can say that a playoff team has no hope is beyond me.

  15. Yes Moss did walk off with a few seconds left but his team was lining up to try an onside kick and were only down 21-18, http://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165452

I think in Dez' case the game was over when he walked off even though there was more time.

In all three cases, the odds of winning were slim to none and I view an early departure as nothing more than poor sportsmanship.

Although in the case of Moss and Bryant, at least they have the excuse of being tired of losing.

  16. I don't disagree about the leadership there but that is in part why Bryant does act the way he does. He is your best player on O so no one is trading him to Buffalo. Moss pulled the same thing one time in Minnesota as well.

True, but I think Moss left with something like only 2 or 3 seconds left on the clock.

His departure is more comparable to Belichick walking off the field of SBXLII with one second left on the clock than Bryant leaving with over a minute.

  17. I like two TEs . . . . Joe Fauria and Tony G . . .  Joe is the nephew of Christian who used to play for the pats . . .

don't know how to post pics . . . so found this link and posted this instead . . . not many photos of him in a modeling role . . .

It's really very easy to post pics and I would be happy to help by walking you through it.

If needed, feel free to post the pic in the above link as often as necessary until you get the hang of it.  ;)

And, if you are still having problems; please let me know and I will try to give you further assistance. .

  18. it is situational football . . . throwing a pick on a earlier play trying to fit the ball in would of been a mistake as you throwing away the extra plays, if the ball is picked (see for example the Homan throw that was high and away from the defender). . . trying to fit a ball in risking a pick is not a mistake on the last play as it is the last play of the game and thus the game over for your team regardless of the outcome . . .  completion/TD, incomplete or int . . .

there are some people who seem not to get this . . .

this is reason why i make the joke in the other thread about the Denver game . . .yah Brady took the ball from the right hash to the middle of the field and get credit for a game winning drive in OT, when reality we all know what the score is here . . . similarly , in this game the first three throws of the series were to spot where only his WR/TE could catch it . . . one was in Amendola's hands, one off Edelman's finger tips, and one over Homan, in this theory you lower your percentage in a catch in exchange of avoiding a drive killing interception . . . but this theory is irrelevant on the last play of the game as it is over either way, so go with the higher percentage even it is risks a pick  . . ..

to compound things the pick was not from the guy defending Collie but a smart play by a player that peeled off his man to cut the ball off . . .

there is more to situational football than just a name . . .

now if you want to complain about the Carolina pick or more still the under thrown duck in the Cinn game, then have at it . . . but you are stretching logic if one tries to get too excited about this pick . . .

You're pretty much preaching to the choir here as I think Colt's fans understand situational football just as well, if not better, than many Patriot fans.

The problem is that for years some Patriot fans have been quick to ridicule Peyton . . . especially for playoff losses . . . without taking a closer look at the "situation" that led to some of those losses because doing so would negate their purpose.

So, I think it's easy to understand why Colt's fans are having fun giving Patriot fans a dose of their own medicine and I can't say that I blame them.

  19. I really wanted a pair of the Colt's bling leggings sold by Victoria's Secret.

However, they are no longer available unless you are a Steeler's or Bill's fan.  :(

But, Santa probably wouldn't have brought them anyhow since the only thing I asked for last year was a pair of Colt's socks and then had a sockless Christmas.

  20. I hear you :).

I mean I understand once or twice but this constant illogical sentences everyday and ignoring other members posting makes one wonder the ultra motives.

Is this even the right thread for this to continue.

    And, I hear you. ;)

    :topic:

Kudos to Peyton for telling his critics to shove it.
