  1. I was always an IU basketball and Cincinnati Reds fan.  Would watch the games with my dad.  Then in '84 the Colts came via Mayflower and my Mother, who is from England, decided that American football was the sport for her.  She got my dad and I watching them too.  Every Sunday she would announce "It's time to watch My Boys kick butt".  Through all the ups and downs my Mother was convinced that The Colts would win a National Title, was sure of it.  It didn't matter if it was Pagle or "Captain Comeback" under center.  My dad passed in '99 so he didn't get to see us win a Title but my Mother did get to see the big win even though she was sick with cancer she stated that it made her feel Wonderful to finally see her "Boys" win it all.  She passed latter that spring.  I decided that I was going to go all in and even though my Husband prefers to stay home and watch the games in his man cave, a friend of mine and I got season tickets together the last year in the old RCA Dome.  So us old Football Chicks are at every home game cheering on our "Boys".  My voice still isn't right from Sunday night WOOHOO!!!!  :disco:

Your mother sounds awesome.  I wish I had known her because I'm sure I would have loved her.

  2. On the Raider board, we're having the same discussions, lol.

Why am I here? Because the Colts are my adopted #2 team and all we're talking about is Martin/Incognito and arguing about whether or not Pryor's the guy moving forward.

I don't think we have any other Raider fans on this site.

So, I just wanted to say welcome.  :hello:

I'm glad that you have joined us.

  3. Now you're just going out in left field. Nobody in their right mind is saying Richie is a good guy. The guy is a tool and shouldn't treat teammates that way. But Martin could if stuck up from himself from day one and we wouldn't be talking about it today, PERIOD! Plain and simple!

haha  I may be in left field, but I feel that those who are labeling Martin are out of the park.

I understand that many feel that he should have reacted differently and is therefore deserving of those "labels", but there is still so much about this story that we don't know that I feel it is unfair to judge Martin just because he didn't act in what others consider to be the appropriate manner.

And, this is coming from a 5'2", 105 pound woman who was instrumental in getting a high school soccer coach fired and a long-time hazing practice stopped.

  4. That's a different situation.  It would be similar though if details came out that the female worker partook in the flirting (or whatever was going on) and didn't notify Incognito that it she was uncomfortable with him flirting with her..

I think what is also fueling this story is that it is Incognito.  He has a record and people quick to say "He's up to his old tricks again."

I was with Martin, but after more details came out (the rookie's stolen car, backing out of agreements, partaking in harsh hazing of rookies, etc.), I'm getting the feeling that this story is deeper than just bullying.

I don't know if you've read about this alleged harassment, but it sounds like it went pretty fast and there is no indication that she was flirting.

But, are you saying that if she had been flirting with Incognito; then she is partially to blame?

  5. I have just cleaned up this thread and am amazed at how many of you want to point your finger at Martin.

After reading about Incognito's alledged sexual harassment of a female worker at a golf outing, I really hope that I will not have to read posts blaming her and saying that she should have understood that the testosterone ridden NFL locker room mentality spills over to a charity golf outing.

Because if I do, I will probably be the first moderator who has ever had to ban herself.

  6. Trash talking is one thing (I.E. Richard Sherman)

It's another thing to bully/haze someone. Bullying has lead to suicide by some people. You just never know. Doesn't make you a punk, everyone is different. Gotta look at it from the victim's perspective and not what you think you "would've" done if it was you

    Agreed.

I have seen a lot of posts in several threads saying what Martin "should" have done.

It's easy to say what someone should have done when you aren't that someone wearing that someone's shoes.

  7. I am a paramedic and a First aid instructor. Generally heart attacks have a higher mortality rate unless the stroke was caused by an aneurysm. I assume that the rush to rule out a heart attack is due to the ease of diagnosis. An ECG that can be applied even before the ambulance will pretty much tell you exactly what is going on if it is a heart issue. A stroke requires a brain scan in the hospital to definitively diagnose, because the symptoms can vary so greatly.

The classic stroke symptoms of hemiplegia (half body paralysis) confusion, and inability to communicate don't always happen. I have dealt with strokes that look just like diabetic emergencies, that have looked just like low blood pressure, that have looked like intoxication. You really can't tell definitively without a scan unless the classic symptoms show up. When I saw Kubiak collapse I immediately told my wife that I suspected a stroke just based on the way that he went down. However he could have gone down in the same way due to a variety of other ailments.

Also having a stroke in the setting that he did was fantastic. If a person suffering a stroke caused by a blood clot can get to the hospital in 1 hour or less, the hospital can administer blood thinners and clear the stroke without any permanent effects. After an hour the treatment options will generally be ineffective. Also if the person suffers a stroke caused by an aneurysm there really isn't much that anybody can do except for emergency surgery which will likely never alleviate the symptoms but can save the person's life.

In Kubiak's case, that minor stroke that he had is a god-send. That stroke is a warning that his blood pressure is too high and suffering something like that that is so much better than a massive heart attack, major stroke, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism without warning. They will put him on a diet,  an exercise regimen and short term blood thinners to ward off future issues. He will be fine.

If you suspect that somebody is having a stroke ask them to do 4 things:

    1. Ask them to raise both arms, if only 1 arm goes up or 1 arm is very shaky, or if they are too confused to follow the direction it is likely a stroke. Call 911

    2. Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. I generally use "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" If the person slurs, or is too confused to repeat the sentence, call 911.

    3. Ask the person to smile. If the person is unable to smile, too confused to follow the request or only half of the face responds, it is likely a stroke, call 911.

    4. Ask the person to stick out their tongue. If the person has any difficulty doing so, or is too confused to follow the request, it is likely a stroke, call 911.

I don't know how first responders do what they do as they are the ones who often see the worst of the worst and may even put themselves in danger while helping others.

So, I wanted to take a few seconds to say thank you.

I have the utmost appreciation for people like you.

  8. I have edited several posts for masked profanity and some posts have been removed that were personal shots.

I am now asking everybody to calm down as I really don't want to hand out any warnings or close this thread.

  9. I'm usually not one to complain about the refs.

    They get some calls wrong.

Sometimes, those calls go the Colts way.  Sometimes, they don't.

But when a call on the field is reversed after a review that did not clearly show that it should be reversed, that's sickening and just ruins the game for me.

And, I felt the same way with the Troy P. call in that playoff game vs. the Steelers.  So, it's just not me wearing my Colt's glasses.

  10. I think the OP was more concerned with the subject of the joke, rather than the fact that a joke was being made.

    Oh, I understand that.

The point I was trying to make was that Fallon has been doing this type of skit all season in regard to players of many teams.

Some of his little jokes, I find to be a bit funny.  Some, I find to be in bad taste.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the jokes that poke fun at a player's expression, hair style, facial hair, etc.; because those are all things that can easily be changed.

However, I don't like the jokes that poke fun at a player for something that is beyond his control such as the superlative that was given to Peyton.

    But, to each his own.

  11. I'm not positive, but I think Fallon has done this before every SNF game.

A few of his comments are somewhat funny, but I find most of them to be just plain dumb.

But, it's not like he is picking on any one player or team.

Here are his superlatives prior to the Patriots/Falcons game and the Cowboys/Redskins game:

  12. I went to the first two Pats parades but have not made the others. I have three kids under 10 so I am home bound tomorrow in the morning for soccer which is the new football. lol. I am hoping to be able to go for some of it.

I know what you mean. Our kids are so spoiled. I have a Super Bowl party every year and my eight year now asks when the Pats are playing in the Super Bowl. She just assumes they will be there because they have been there almost every year of her life. Pretty surreal.

My brother called me the other night and said that if the Sox win game 6 the real MVP should be Tom Brady. He has been saying for years that Brady is the one that brought winning to this city and he deserves the credit for all the championships. A bit over the top even for someone like me but he does make me laugh. Brady did begin it all. :)

    Good grief!

We really need to look into getting you your own "Tom Brady Adoration" forum.

  13. This thread was closed to clean up a personal arguement.

I'm now reopening it in the hopes that further posts will stay on topic.

Also, if you don't like a thread because you think something is old news; there is a simple option . . . just ignore the thread and move on rather than ruining it for others for whom the topic may not be old news.

  14. In amfootball's defense, all women love Tom Brady.

You're using a very broad brush there.

I'm a woman and I do not love Tom Brady.

I respect him and admire his capabalities as a QB.

And, I love the Cinderalla story of a 6th round draft pick becoming one of the best.

But, nope, I don't love the guy.

  15. Bringing up Spygate in 2013 is like me saying that the Saints SB victory in 2009 doesn't really count since Colts Special Teams weren't prepared for the onside kick called by HC Sean Payton & therefore INDY deserves a ring not New Orleans.

You are entitled to your opinion Beywatch, but lets not be disingenuous here. Watch or remember the whole game not just the final result. JMO.

I don't buy into the whole Spygate thing myself, but to compare that to not being prepared for an onside kick seems like quite a stretch to me.

Now, if you had said, Bountygate; I could understand.

But, I can't recall a team ever being heavily disciplined for not being prepared for an onside kick.

  16. If you have a personal problem with me please do what is suggested by the moderators and PM me and leave it out of the forum.

If I ever have a personal problem with you, I will do just that.

And, I hope that in the future you will as well.

  17. I am not arguing with you or anyone else. I didn't say that what they did was right  but I said that no exceptions are correct.  I also didn't say anything about your fandom you just read way too much into what I replied and your being too defensive for no reason at all.

Let's see.  I said that I thought "that" game was an exception.

You quoted me and said that no game should be an exception if one is truly a fan of that team.

How you cannot see that as a shot at my fandom is beyond me, but whatever.

Booing a team with a perfect record that pulls the starters is a lot different to me than booing a team that is ahead/tied at half time.

I have been very open on this site about the fact that I still love Peyton and will cheer for the Broncos . . . except for when they play the Colts.

So, yes, I was upset to read that Bronco's fans were booing the very same team that I was cheering for especially given the score and I will defend Peyton and the Broncos against those fans.

I am sorry if that troubles you, but that's just how I feel.
