  1. I have said this for 2 years...the top defenses in the league are almost all 3-4. I am stoked that we might actually have a defense. If Luck can be even 80% of what Manning is/was, we will have a good offense to go with it.

  2. It's a 3.2 hit... Not far from 4. Not ideal, but good for depth.

Can't he restructure with us, lowering that cap hit? Are you sure we take it? I mean, if we traded Freeney, we still take a hit I thought.

For what we traded for him, what I was reading, he does have knee problems in the past, which worry me, but if he can stay healthy, he might be a good pickup to add depth and even a starter to the line.

  3. I will also say, I only have seen a few pictures of our new HC, but there was a guy with two kids at the NFL Experience when I was working that looked a lot like him. I doubt it was him, but I had to take a double take.

  4. Thanks guys! Good topics are nice every once in a while! :)

While they are doing their stuff, they are surrounded by usually at least 2 police officers and a few other people.

I thought I had heard some go to the Colts Grill sometimes also? But most of that is probably luck. When I saw Brackett, I just happened to see him in a tunnel walking somewhere with security.

  5. i am going to head south to indy for a few days this week. do you have any suggestions on what day to be there? is there a schedule of what is going on or anything?

The early weekdays, Mon/Tues/Weds are the best, with the expectations of less crowds. By Thursday, Gaints/Pats fans will be on the city. I have heard Wed is a huge day, like mentioned above. There are schedules, but for the most part, you have to just be there and find out what is going on for the players. Their schedules change hourly for them and you just have to keep up.

http://www.fox59.com/sports/superbowl/ Fox59 has a lot of stuff, other news stations websites have stuff also. Parking has been anywhere from $6 (few blocks away) to $30 right next to the convention center. Get any advance tickets you can, so that you don't have to stand in lines that long.

  6. I don't know how many of you have had a chance to visit the NFL Experience or just go downtown Indy, but I wanted to give props out to the Colts players. As a volunteer and I went with my family, I am amazed at all the Colts players that are taking part of this and helping make it a success.

They are running youth clinics, reading/talking to kids in the Rush Zone, signing like crazy! I know my day Saturday, I only saw Reggie Wayne, but yesterday as a fan I saw Brackett, David Caldwell, Garcon, Addai, Bethea, Hughes, Donald Brown, Ben Ijanuna, and a lot of the cheer leaders! I also know there were others there, but I didn't see them.

I know there is a chance that some of these guys might not be back next year, but you can tell they have put that aside and are doing Indiana proud!

If you get a chance, I would recommend you visiting!

  7. It might be hard, but I have decided this. Having the SB here is great! The money that will come from the Pats and Giants fans will be huge and very good for our local companies and people around the state. So as long as the Giants win, the Pats spend millions upon millions....I will be happy.

  8. All we know from this interview:

    1. Manning, like anyone else, is sad by the firings. First time he has been around it, and almost everyone else would feel sad also. So he is human.

    2. I do believe, Manning wants to stay a Colt #1. If he had a choice, that would be his first.

    3. Manning doesn't want to retire and wants to play with his neck. I think he plays this next season.

    4. Learning a new system with the Colts new coaches, which would most likely let him do his thing because it has worked for over 10 years, would be EASIER than going to a new team and learning ALL their stuff. How can you say he wouldn't want to stay with a new system. Hello, even going to a team that has a simiar, they are all different, do things different, and it is just about the same.

    5. Irsay is the one that will decide Manning's fate. With that, I am happier than with Grigson. Irsay has more invested into Manning and I think there is a better chance to keep Manning with Irsay deciding, than Grigson.

    6. For all the other team fans that keep saying the Colts should release/trade Manning. First off, with the cap hit, they can't trade him. If he is given the 28 million, he stays. Second, if this was Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Eli, Big Ben, it is easy to say, let him walk.....For the fans of the team, you wouldn't say that about your QB and I think most of the let him walk stuff comes from, you want him out of Indy and either to another team in a difference conference or you want him for your team to you can win.

    7. Manning has a lot of character and his proven over the years, he hates all the drama.

  9. It comes down to the basic question:

Should Caldwell be fired because Peyton Manning couldnt play abd the team suffered.

    The answer is 'no'

The idea of someone being held accountable is twisted.

This isnt felony court. there does not have to be a fall guy when we know why.

    16-3 good year

    10-7 good year

    2-14 bad year..

The guy probably deserves a 4th year....to be fair..he's technically a proven winner..

How do you figure? He didn't win those games. He was outcoached HUGE in the SB. He did not have his team ready. His was outcoached last year in the playoffs. Coaching decisions are his and those have been questioned since he took over. The team is never ready for big games. The game plan his horrible for a lot of games.

He never shows any emotion. At least Dungy showed some. And his excuse, we gotta get better? Really? Why not tell the players that, instead of the media. He even said, he doesn't care what the fans think or say. I am sorry, HE SHOULD. I understand he should also care what Irsay, Grigson and anyone else in the front office says, but come on. You should at least care if we think you are ok or think the direction is going well. We are the paying parties.

  10. If they keep Caldwell, they better bring back Manning, because he can't coach. If we start with Luck, we would better off getting a new coach also to stay with him through the years. Keeping Caldwell would tell me, they plan to keep Manning because if Caldwell has another 2-14 season or even 4-12, fans will not be happy at all.

I am sorry, he got out coached in so many games. He was completely outcoached in the SB. He wasn't ready for a HC job when he was given it, from what I have seen.

  11. Can someone tell me why everyone wants Jeff Fisher besides the fact that hes the biggest name out there?

I like the way he coaches. As stated, he is a defensive minded coach, which I think would help make the changes we have needed on that side of the ball. He motivate players, takes chances during ball games and isn't afraid to mess up and then try something else. I like his demeanor and how he represents an org. He can be classey, yet yell at a guy to make him understand his mistake.

Dungy had never won a SB either. Until he came here. So not having a championship doesn't mean anything.

  12. Every team and every situation is different, there is no book that says if your team goes x and x you must fire or not fire your coach.

Frankly I think what is going on is that Irsay sat down and looked at the season and realized the biggest problem causing them to lose games was a flat out lack of talent and if someone else was coaching the team it wouldn't have made much of a difference in the out come of most games. Thus he decided it a time for the GM to be shown the door.

If you listen to Irsay's presser it's pretty clear he respects Jim Caldwell a lot and the fact he didn't lose the team clearly ment something to Irsay. Now with that said Irsay also akowledge Cladwell's mistakes he's made which is why I think Caldwell is under review at the moment. I think irsay feels like Caldwell is an average coach and is seeing if he can get someone better or that he likes more. If he can't and he's not crazy about someone else he has left the door open to stick with Caldwell. It means Caldwell has to twist in the wind a bit and might cost the Colts some coaches on the staff at the moment (you can't blame them for looking for jobs right now) but that seems to be the road Irsay has picked to go down.

Lack of talent? I won't disagree that without Manning, some things were horrible, but we do have talent on this dang team. Granted, most of that talent was drafted in the middle rounds, but to say we had lack of talent? The only lack of talent I saw was in the coaching staff.
