  1. I was referencing the WR class. I quoted a comment about a WR who the Colts apparently like because they sent three representatives to his pro day which included Cooter.
  2. I’m starting to think Blackmon will be back and with a new FS I will feel 100% better with the safety group.
  3. Yep. But now he thinks he has his quarterback like all of us are hoping. That’s what he’s banking on him and Steichen together for the year.
  4. It’s a deep class for sure. They might wait to 46 or move up from 46.
  5. Like I thought. He is very patient. Upgrades are in the works but at the right cost. Otherwise he moves on to plan B.
  6. Ballard has said they decided to go young at corner last year and he probably wasn’t discouraged by what he saw. That said I think he was open to upgrading the group at a reasonable price. I always thought it was about the guaranteed money. That coupled with a strong rookie class of corners and Sneed’s big guaranteed windfall stopped our pursuit in its tracks. I think he’s still open to adding a veteran in the group but one with a more reasonable price similar to his strategy with Gilmore two years ago. It’s always about the money. I think that’s what slowed down the safety pursuit. Ballard is very patient. He will wait out his target and if he loses it he will move to plan B. He always has a plan B.
  7. If we were to open today Cross and Thomas are our starters at safety. That’s a recipe for disaster. Neither one has proven they are full time NFL caliber starters. The cornerbacks are a hope and a prayer right now as well. Hopefully the 1st pick goes to the secondary where an immediate starter can be found found and is needed.
  8. Anyone know who our kick returner is? McKenzie is gone. With the new kick off rules it might be a good idea to get a good one. Cooper Dejean is one of best in the current draft class as well as being a highly rated cornerback. I like Arnold for our 1st pick but if gone I would be very happy with Dejean. He would fill two needs actually.
  9. Just read on pro football rumors that a couple of veteran FA CB were signed tonight. I don’t recognize their names but they were FA. Also saw a short podcast tonight from Chat Sports predicting four FA signing. Interesting thing is they predicted Gilmore will resign with the Colts. I wasn’t expecting that one so I thought I would share it. Lots of podcasts and predictions out there.
  10. This comment has nothing to do with my comment you are quoting. But you like to keep bringing this opinion up so If it makes you feel good fine. Just an fyi. I am not punishing myself. I don’t lose sleep over any of my opinions or lack of trades or FA signing. I really don’t. I am here for a little entertainment listening to different points of view and throwing out my two cents. That’s it. Nothing more nothing less. But I’m sure I’ll hear the same thing from you down the road. It’s your thing with me. No worries. I will wake up in the morning. Gosh. I hope so anyway. Lol
  11. Considering how the Colts haven’t added one significant FA and could still lose Blackmon I think this rating is pretty awesome. They think we’re in the thick of it just standing pat at this juncture. Who would have thought.
  12. Maybe Ballard had to push his presser back because he is finalizing a player acquisition. On second thought. Erase that thought.
  13. That’s right. He was Blackmon’s backup. I only recall seeing him play SS.
  14. Hopefully he is. He really struggled through most of the season. Then Blackmon got hurt and he had to start. He played well down the stretch which is a good sign finally. He will probably start if Blackmon doesn’t return. Hopefully he’s up to the task.
  15. How about sending Paye in a package deal to the Eagles for Reddick? They are open to trading him. The Brian Burns trade was pretty reasonable for the Giants. Colts might be able to put together something similar that makes sense for both sides. They really might like Paye to take his place.
  16. He’s the perfect example of why I want to stay at 15. Better chance of getting a premier player at 15.
  17. Out of all of the eligible college players in the country he is also known for drafting players who have injury histories. Go figure.
  18. I agree. The way I look at it there are a number of ways to help AR. One is improving the defense and getting him the ball more. Upgrading the secondary could do that. Maybe more interceptions and turnovers. More opportunities to score. It’s not like the offense is really lacking talent. The defense on the other hand needs an injection of some talent and primarily in the secondary. JMO.
  19. CB Cooper Dejean is also one of the top punt returners in college. If he were to become a Colt he would probably be our new PR.
  20. Me too. And we know nothing happens on the weekends. So if nothing happens by Good Friday we might have to wait for the draft for any move of consequence.
  21. Everybody in the NFL says it’s a good WR class. So nothing earth shattering there. I never said we wouldn’t add a WR by the way. Downs looked pretty good from the 3rd round didn’t he?
  22. I agree. Going back into the 20’s is a no for me. I want a starter with our first pick.
  23. We would get explosive just by having AR back. I think they like who they have at WR too. No moves in FA there either. Even Reggie stood up for Pierce. Like I said if one of the top three fall I could see it. I would be surprised if they did. Ballard tried to sign Hunter and acquire Sneed. Both defensive players. I think it’s safe to say he views ER and CB as positions that he is looking to upgrade. The right player at those two positions would qualify the desire to become more explosive on the defensive side.
  24. I read an article today on BR stating that people who are supporters of analytics point to statistics that say trading back is not a good strategy and the statistics support that conclusion. I can see rebuilding teams using that approach to acquire a lot of talent all through the roster. Teams that are very competitive and playoff caliber teams are better off focusing their strategy on acquiring higher level talent to fill specific needs or weaknesses than adding multiple later round talent. Ballard has traded back frequently to get a lot of picks. I think our roster is pretty solid overall. I think he agrees and that’s why we have resigned so many of our own. This year he might sit tight or actually move up in the 2nd rd to try to really get players he wants on the team to fill some specific needs with higher rated prospects. That’s what might happen this year. We will see.
