This thread is about the 49ers........not about Luck, not about the Colts draft pick

There's nobody denying that. The issue in contention is whether it's for the best to not win - people who think it is for the best want a loss, people who don't want a win - no better fan mumbo jumbo. If I was a player I'd be playing to win no doubt, but I'm not.
I will not be broken hearted if we lose. There is an upside to it for sure
-
the players were highly motivated, strong individuals and they all wanted to win. That he didn't need him to encourage them, because it was what they all wanted the most.
Pretty much how i feel about that particular issue. although I enjoyed seeing Peyton fall to his knees last week......emotion on the sideline doesn't concern me
-
If I was colts fan these last years I'd be so mad I'd probably get banned
Admit to your closet Colts fanedness! :luv:
-
So next time your Skins fan friend comes to you with his sob stories tell him to suck it up and whip out your air violin. LOL
I do not have the heart to do this
Although this season...........he was ranting about how bad they are
And I was like..
Seriously? You want to talk badness?
I WIN!
-
I did see that. Just to play Devil's advocate here....anyone else think he did that as a PR move? Gain the fans' support so the front office feels pressure to sign him and give in to his demands? I don't think that's the motive behind his actions, but I'm just sayin....
Maybe, but Reggie in general has fun making a splash. I enjoy that about him

As a Colts fan it hurts to put those two teams in the SB.
It does............in our stadium
Not over that Saints game........nope

I think some people are stuck in a sports movie with how corny it gets. End of the day, literally all it comes down to is meaningless win to put a bit of fluff on the stats (3-13 looks great guys, I really hope we get that!...) or the most valuable draft pick in 14 years.
But it's not a real choice to me. We play to win.
That's what it boils down to imo. That's what divides people right now.
You can call it corny and meaningless, if you like
It is not corny or meaningless to me. It's the way the game is played

I always find it so interesting how fans throw around the word classy in one of the more violent sports we have in this country. I just find it an odd mix that fans want their players especially the defenders, tough, aggressive, mean, and violent, but then act appalled when things are not "classy."
Maybe classy was the wrong word. Disturbing might be better
Yes it's a violent sport but that kind of crossed the line into blood thirsty don't you think?
-
Interesting question. I don't think I'd stop following them but I would expect there to be some kind of problem to arise from it
Is this how the NFL and it's fan base wants things to happen?
I think we would deserve whatever was dealt to us as a result of this kind of game fixing, you know?
-
It's only natural that the newer Colts fans are inherently spoiled. Those of us that waited 20 years for success to breed here, I think we still have a humble feeling about this disastrous season and have kept a better perspective.
Life in general has kicked me around enough for me to let this sort of thing roll off me. Maybe i'm not as passionate as those who are so angry right now about the state of things. Probably.
I must say though that this Redskins fan makes me laugh. He has shared endless stories with me., I don't follow that team and I had no idea what the fan base was enduring.
Those are some sturdy fans there! And it does remind me of the bad old days. And it is true that when you overcome them.......as the Colts did in XLI, victory..........could not possibly be sweeter.
I do hope their day comes.

We control the hand.
That's true. But where we differ is on whether or not we should play to win.
-
Lol turn in my fan card cause i want what's best for this organization that I have rooted for since 1991. My fan card lol. U seem to hold a Peyton manning fan card and just don't want him pushed out if Indy. Everybody on this forum is a colts fan and most likely like the other person said the colts best fans. Not every fan takes time out of there day to Join a forum dedicated to the colts. We r all colts fans and saying otherwise makes me question your fan card and wonder if it's a troll card.
Yes we are all fans
Talk of turning in your fan card needs to stop. It's inflammatory. them's fighten words for sure

Its ok to have the " i dont care" attidude but many of us do care and want the best for our team. The other comment about the "world not ending" is true also. But our team will CHANGE because of what happens next week. In the biggest way since we got Manning. There is no denying that, so I believe we have to get Luck because I remember after Unitus we didnt have a QB untill Jones, and it was a long search untill Manning. I believe If Luck turns out to be 60% of Manning it is worth the loss.
I do care but, we play the hand we are dealt. That's all I'm saying
-
I'm just upset that I'm being attacked for defending myself.
I agree that there has been some of this going on And it should not happen
Sometimes people get a bit mean spirited and imo hyena-like
Susies never mean though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not possible
-
I know a Titans fans who said he's glad the Colts are winning because, " it wouldn't be fare for the Colts to get Luck after having Manning"
so many fans have compared their plight to that of Colts fans.
I have a friend who is a Redskins fan and he has been sharing with me all that that fan base has endured
They look at the Colts and they wonder when it's going to be their turn.
I must say, I am glad I am not a Redskins fan.

@doogan
Thanks for the videos. For me it was like reliving those Ws. I'd also like a copy of the video of Peyton falling to the ground and watching the game from his hands and knees in that game. Emotions were very high in that game for the players and the fans.
I'm in the camp that thrives on these victories and believe they do a lot for this team.......and it's fine if people think that's sappy. I'm happy to own that.
I'm sorry they cannot really feel these victories or see what they do for the team...... because they've got their eye on next season
I saw there were even people IN the stadium that were unhappy about the win. It's incomprehensible to me but........it's also fine with me.
This is a divisive issue though and I don't shame any colts fan for wanting the #1 pick
Heck, even my mom is on the phone to me once a week about it (she's in the Suck for Luck camp).
The only thing for sure here is that nobody is going to change anybody's mind on this one. The best we can do is to try and keep things from degenerating into insult fests...........like Manning v Brady for sure
@everyone else: Thanks for continued efforts to keep this debate.......... civil
Please try to avoid all fan card type discussions. They never have good results............NOT EVER
-
Sorry folks. I just find it hard to root against this team - especially when they've shown so much spirit these last two.
It's fun to hear/see it happening. It DOES remind me of years past.
As others have said, whatever happens is going to happen, but I can't root against my team. Love them too much!
If we don't get the #1 pick i still bask in the glow of having a 3 game winning streak to end the season. After losing
13 in a row (in the same season no less!) that will be an absolutely AWESOME feeling!!
Me too.
Whatever next year hold for us, I say BRING IT!

The whole time I read about the emotion of the player all I can think about is the emotional 180 Ernie has. Look at the post game losses and he talks quiet and depressed. After the two wins you think the man is the happiest man in the world. I love it. I just like him so much, I don't know why.
I was thinking the same thing watching him in that video
Talk about having stared adversity in the face........and overcoming it. I cannot imagine how awesome that feels
I think though that his huge smile after the last two Ws ........spoke for many fans
-
Well...We could start picking the scabs on that whole 14-0 resting starters thing.
That's always fun.
EDIT: Or how about a Brady/Manning thread?
Thanks for that
-
I was originally torn, but bottom line I just want our colts to play & whatever happens happens. I don't think the world will end if we don't get luck or the 1st pick, though I understand the importance. GO COLTS ! :manning:
I agree
The first pick is supposed to go to the worst team.........and if that's not us........that's the way it is
1st pick would obviously make things easier.
If we don't get it, we don't get it
It is so ironic to me that all these division games were put at the end of the season in response to the colts resting the starters in 2009.......to give the Colts a reason to play competitive football
And now, here we are........discussing the merits of 'playing less than our best'........to increase our odds of the other great prize............1st draft pick
-
Or what?
Cats and dogs living together?
Mass hysteria?
thanks for reminding me of this! I do think we have a little bit of this now
-
Please remember the board rules folks. It is not cool to question another person's fandom. Obviously we're all fans or we wouldn't be here. (aside from the occasional troll of course )
Thank you for saying this
I'd like to add, last night was a little big ugly here with fans calling each other names.
Let's chalk it up to the heat of the moment and let it go
