  1. You are missing the point, why are people pointing out that Stroud has been good after only 7 games, or that Levis should have been the pick based on 1 game? Then those same people tear down AR because the guy is injured - that is even the bigger issue I have. Lets at least see what Stroud's numbers and record is at the end of the season before we start calling him an All-Pro . Lets see Levis play more than 1 game before we think he is Dan Marino. If you can't see my point here, then here we go again with our usual crap. People in here and fans and media around the world were saying Brock Purdy was the 2nd coming of Joe Montana after 10 freakin' games. Look at the last 3 weeks. I am not saying anyone is good, bad, or great until I get a huge sample size. Like maybe 2 full seasons = 32 games. That is just me and that is common sense.
  2. Hindsight is something else. Just think in 2018 as Luck was recovering, we could have drafted Josh Allen for insurance at #6 to be a possible starter if anything happened to Luck again. Allen went to the Bills at #7 and the rest is history. Is Allen great? Probably not but he is very good and is arguably a top 5 QB today like Luck was in 2014 and 2018. Allen always gives the Bills a chance to win like Luck did. He reminds me of Luck, the way he runs and throws on the run, etc..
  3. Who really knows. We were in rebuild mode so I am not even sure Peyton would have won that 2nd SB with us. Denver had a great defense the year he won with them. I think Kirk would have played good here, probably a playoff team more times than not.
  4. There are already a handful of people in here that said, see we should have took Levis instead of AR. Based on 1 game, that is pretty petty and just really comical.
  5. Every year if we get to 3-5 at the midway point, some just want to tank. Maybe in 2030 we will be good with 50 more draft picks (then again, maybe we won't) . I just take things year by year and enjoy every win possible. To the people saying lets tank, what is the purpose of watching the last half of the season then? If I was a big tank guy. I would just do something else on Sunday to occupy my 4 hours and just see if we won or lost, if we lost then I would be cool. Otherwise if you watch, one is basically rooting for us to lose. I could never do that with the exception of the 3 times I noted above.
  6. JT's speed, at any time if he gets a full stride ahead, he can break a run for a long TD. The carry Moss got yesterday when he went for 41 yards, had that been JT, he would have been gone. That would have put us up 27-21. Instead the next play Stache throws an INT, they go down and score and we are down 28-20 instead. To answer your question, it is JT's break away speed, he is a HR hitter. Don't try and tell me that isn't important because that could be a difference of us scoring 7 instead of 3 on certain drives.
  7. I have always said this, it takes a rare circumstance for me not to care about winning and then tanking. As a fan since 1984, I can only think of 3 times in my 40 season fandom where I didn't mind tanking. That was in 1997 once we got to 0-8 because Peyton was coming out, 2011 once we got to 0-8 because Luck was coming out, and last year when we lost to the Texans to end the season because the game was meaningless and secured us getting the 4th pick. In all 3 situations we needed a Franchise QB is why, so in 1997 and 2011 - I wanted us to pick #1 once we got to 0-8 because at that point the season was over and I knew Peyton and Luck were going to be great. Otherwise to me tanking is a loser mentality. The draft is a crapshoot and you have to be lucky a lot of times to land the right players. For example, a team can pick 7th and another team can pick 15th, the team that picks 15th could easily get the better player. You never know. I will still root for wins this year until we are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Winning is just in my blood, I hate losing but that is how I am built.
  8. It is because they have a great QB who can mask other problems. Until people listen to me when I say you need a very good - Great QB to win a SB, they will never learn. Since 2014, here are the teams that have won a SB: 2014 - Brady 2015 - Peyton = he still played a very good game vs the Pats in the playoffs. Even at 75% of his old self, he was still very good at times. 2016 - Brady 2017 - Foles 2018 - Brady 2019 - Mahomes 2020 - Brady 2021 - Stafford 2022 - Mahomes -All are Hall of Famers (even Stafford will get in), except Foles. Foles in the one outlier, but 8 of the last 9 SB winners are Hall of Famers or will be. That is 88.9% of the teams that win the big one. Hurts made the SB last year and barely lost to Mahomes.
  9. I want to see Purdy win at least the Conference than that will be eye opening . He has a great team around him. Jimmy G at least won the Conference championship, he took advantage what he had around him. Regarding the Vikings, there are 6 QB's coming out of the draft = Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Michael Pennix, Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy, and Quinn Evers. All might end up good if not great Pro's. Vikings will have a great chance to get any of the QB's I listed expect Caleb because he will go #1.
  10. I think a lot of the Purdy bashing is because, most of the media was comparing him to Joe Montana already and fans have been slobbering over him doing the same thing. One of my huge pet peeves is when fans think so and so is already great without a huge sample size. Like with Stroud, dude has played 7 games and most people in here think he is a pro-bowler already. I think Stroud has played well but his team is 3-4 and he played bad yesterday in a loss to the Panthers. I need to see a QB play at least 2 full seasons (32 games) before I can say, I think he is the real deal. Not 10 or 7 games. Point is, I wish nothing but the best for Purdy, how the 49ers play really doesn't affect me being a Colts fan. I was just saying I would have stuck with Jimmy G and with the picks they gave up, they could have been unbeatable in reality. Regarding Kirk. He has a winning QB record over a long career, has 1 playoff signature win at the Saints in 2019, which he beat Drew Brees so that was a big one, and his numbers are great. I don't think he is a Hall of Famer but the Vikings could do much worse.
  11. I have been a fan since 1984 and I can only recall 1 coach that we have had that had true killer instinct. Ted Marchibroda but he didn't have much to work with. In 1995 we had the 'IT' factor and Harbaugh with Ted had killer instinct. That is it. Dungy is the best coach we have ever had but he and Peyton won a lot of games and a SB because we were just more talented than almost every team. Even Dungy would let the gas off the pedal though in many games. Probably the 3 best coaches the Indianapolis Colts have ever had, (talking here in Indy), not sure how old you are? Are: 1. Tony Dungy 2. Ted Marchibroda 3. Ron Meyer - Meyer had crap QB's to work with and when he took over in 1986 we were 0-13, he won the last 3 games of that season, then in 1987 we won the AFC East Division Title by going 9-6. He and Dickerson had great chemistry.
  12. I can't control what the FO does, whatever they want to do is out of my control. If we trade Moss or whoever or even trade Mustache for a low pick, it is what it is. We aren't SB contenders anyway so really our whole discussion is moot.
  13. Cubs just won a WS a few years ago. They have been good overall over the last decade. I am confused??
  14. So you don't think Ballard didn't think we could win at least 8 games? Also you are the one that threw out SB talk looking foolish, so I am not throwing nothing out! You started the SB talk to try and make me look an *.
  15. What makes you think I am happy that Purdy is playing badly? I am just telling it like it is and trading 4 draft picks, including 2 1st rounders for Lance is on Lynch as one of the worst trades ever. All just because he wanted Jimmy out then! Jimmy G was a great game manager that won games. As far as Kirk goes, your bashing of him has become nauseating. He was playing good again until his injury yesterday. Lets see how the Vikings do without him. Kirk doesn't belong in a Vikings uniform because he has a fan base that bashes him constantly. Sad really.
  16. No, with Gilmore I would have felt like we could maybe win the division. I have never remotely thought going into this season that we were SB contenders even had we had Gilmore, especially with a rookie QB. I picked the Ravens to win the SB before the season started. I had them and the Chiefs playing the AFC Title Game regardless. I also had teams like Cincy and the Bills as being better than us.
  17. lol. I have never once posted that we are primed to go to the SB. How do you translate my 8-8-1 prediction into me thinking we are primed to go to the SB? That is interesting. I have posted at times that we could make the playoffs if things go our way.
  18. Yeah, I disagreed with that move by Ballard.
  19. Will Levis needs to be added to the Rookie QB thread Title. @NFLfan, if you can do that, it would be much appreciated.
  20. I wonder what our record would be if we had Gilmore all year? Maybe 5-3 which just irks me. Oh well!
  21. You never know, all you need is 2 or 3 great weeks.
  22. @chad72told me to hold to his beer (not really), but he killed it. He has taken over 1st place by 2 games. I have to bounce back this upcoming week.
  23. You are having a nice week too. My goal is to always try and win at least 11 games in a 16 game week. I am going to fall 1 game short even with a Lions win. That would put me at 10-6.
