He was viewed as a first round talent by some, McShay said he was the 33rd best player in the draft and the Colts got him in the middle of the draft.  Heck in any other year where the draft isn't so stacked at corner he's probably a first rounder.  The Colts got value on paper.

I get the idea that most people who think this is a reach are saying so because they don't like the pick.  If that's the case fine so be it but just because people might not like the pick does not make it a reach.  If there is another reason people think this is a reach please feel free to share because by just about any measure you would use to measure if this was a reach or not it's not.

Agreed. Wilson is the type of corner we need for our defense. I'm excited about this draft.

Colts said when he was signed he will be a safety.  Given the fact they have a disappointment to this point in Green and two other safeties that have a history of injuries I think they are going to stick with Butler at safety.

Well they said that wherever they felt he needed to be played, he would be. I think he will play both, safety and slot corner.

  3. I don't see how Tim Williams, Zach Cunningham, and Chidobe are still available. I wish we would trade up and snag one of them. We could have a day 1 starter with any of those 3. Williams would split time, but is a monster.

If Chidobe is available and those 2 players aren't, we have to double dip there. BPA.

So much for taking the BPA.

Botched FA not signing a CB and forced to reach a mid 2nd pick on this guy.

    Do not like.

How so? Look all over the internet. Look at mocks. Look at his tape, his combine. Wilson allowed a 29.3 passer rating on him. That's insane. We got our potential Davis replacement next offseason!

Search the forum.  The needs were...and still are after round 1....OLB, CB, ILB, and RB...and some said RG.

    FS is not a need.

If you're saying that any team needs an elite FS just because that's what you do when one is available, then 14 other teams don't feel that Hooker is an elite FS.

If you say Hooker was far and away BPA, that's nonsense because Humphrey, Allen, Reddick, and Foster all were also ranked higher than 15, in most or many mocks, and fell past us.

Hooker is a first round player that fell a few slots.  Big deal.  Its not like we got Myles Garrett in round 3.  Humphrey was picked 16 by well-regarded Ozzie Newsome...he picked Humphrey over Foster, Reddick, and Allen; so to suggest that Hooker was far and away BPA over Humphrey is simple stubborness, since Humphrey was obviously BPA over the other guys many wanted at 15.

Humphrey is not better than Hooker. Both are good players. But Hooker was not projected to be outside the top ten in any mocks that I've seen but one. Humphrey has been projected in the second round in some. I actually believe Baltimore would have taken Hooker had we not taken him.

Ballaed obviously has done his studying on Hooker. He was excited about the pick. Said he was really thinking we might have a chance at him after pick 10. We get a blue chip defensive player. Be happy.

I would not have liked any of them.  As I said pre-draft, 15 was a bad place to be.

Well I guess your the only one that thought that. Many people mentioned that the eagles, colts, and the ravens were in a great position.

If he is there and he is BPA, I would have no problems with it. I just had a problem with it in round 1.

That's how I feel. I truly believe we are in a good position right here. I want the BEST overall player available. I didn't believe a lineman was BPA in round one. I was right. Lamp and Robinson are still available.

Cook, King, Awuzie, Lamp, Cunningham, Wilson, or Tim Williams. I don't think we could go wrong here. As long as we don't draft a safety, QB, DT(unless its McDowell) or WR. I'm fine. I expect EDGE, ILB, or Corner.

    CB.

I really like Chidobe Awuzie out of Colorado. He is similar to Geathers who can play multiple positions.

With players like that, we could really change up our defense and fool defenses. Awuzie could jump back as the safety, and Hooker with his coverage abilities, could cover the receiver. Vontae could cover the No. 1 receiver, and Geathers can cut off the Tight End. Butler can guard the slot WR. We could have a very diverse secondary.

I really like Kevin King too. He is the type of corner Ballard likes.

Dalvin Cook(yes, a 2nd round pick which I have been against... but he may be BPA.), Lamp, and Cunningham are 3 players I would like as well.

Injury history... 1 yr starter.. poor angles and misses tackles... We needed a lot more than a safety.  Butler would be fine... We need CB, EDGE, LB.... with Allen and.lots more available,  more of a Grigson pick

No it was the best pick. Idc who made it. Hooker was the right choice.

Yup. Truly shows how little knowledge some people have.

Exactly. People want BPA. We get a top 5-8 talent fall to us, and they complain. Feuded and Kiper both aren't very good at judging defensive talent.

Give Hooker a year and he is a top 5 FS. He has potential to be our bob sanders. Not as a hard hitter, but as a playmaker who can cover half the field.

Hooker is starting.  Don't fool yourselves.  You don't take this guy where they picked him and then have him sit on the bench.  He's your FS with Geathers likely the box guy IMHO.

I'd like to agree. But I have no idea. haha I think he is the best coverage safety to come out in the last several years. He could be a stud. Our Eric Berry, Ed Reed type of safety potentially.
