They'll still be picking inside twenty, and there will still be plenty of talent available, and people will still be mad when it isn't a QB.

With no possibility for a playoff game, I’d rather have that 10 spot but we get who we get.

He wouldn't have been doing any of that with us because he would have never played over Doyle and Ebron. And he's not a better blocker than MAC.  We tried to put on him on the PS but he got snatched up. It happens.

I think he has more talent than our injured every other game TE basketball project.

Hentges wouldn't have had any TDs here......

MAC was progressing nicely last year.. then like most... regression...

Don't get me wrong, I liked HH, but he wasn't going to look great with JB passing the ball.

I just seen high level potential from Hentges. Just hated letting him get exposed to our PS but I get it, they have to make decisions and they don’t always work out.

JB has a lot of issues....but he does have elite pocket movement.

I will give you that, he does move well, hard to take down but then he has to throw it to someone. I’ll also give him credit for two wr drops so far on that last drive. They weren’t exact passes but they hit the receivers hand and should have been caught.

Good thing I'm not a GM. I understand it's better business to have luck here,  but I'm not one to easily let someone back in after pulling a stunt like he did.

I honestly believe that if Luck said he was clear both mentally and physically, he would 100% be welcomed back as the starter. If CB said he wouldn’t just give him that job back, I believe that Irsay would 1000% pick Luck over Ballard everyday of the week. After watching last years team with Luck and this years team without Luck , I think it’s clear what a quality QB does for this team. CB May be very good, Luck was just that more meaningful to teams wins. At least that’s what I see in the short term.

That tells me that irsay is probably going to demand ballard draft a QB. I would rather draft our future then going after a FA.

I could see a discussion with CB and Irsay at years end going something like this. Chris, how do you really assess our current QB situation? Is JB really the guy you want to hang your hat on? What risk do you put on the potential QB’s in the first round that we have a legit chance to get as we know we can’t get that 1st pick away from Cincy?

id also like to think the smart business guy in Irsay says look, I honestly need a vast improvement in whoever you see in the QB role for next season whether that be JB, Kelly or a high draft pick. I need to instill hope and enthusiasm back into my small market team who lost a share of fans when Manning left but gained some of them back with Luck. Now I have a fan base screaming how miserable they are from watching this year’s debacle and I need to regain that enthusiasm one way or the other. So my desire would be for you to put together what a first round QB pick looks like and to ignite the base again while having legitimate chances for being better into the future with that pick. If it isn’t a QB pick, I need you to really convince me as to why we aren’t going QB in the first come time to draft.

I see, and you do make a good point.  Probably, if they did do the qb switch, it may not serve us better long term.

    But just perhaps... It might.

The slim possibility, that maybe... Kelly is the guy.

(or even if he's not the second coming of Unitas) it is possible that Kelly could simply be better than Brissett.

Now, going this way, none of us will ever know?

And what's at stake to lose?

    Hurting Jacoby's feelings?

Or maybe more so... Hurting Ballard and Reich's egos?

It also could serve two things. 1. It could show that Kelly is good enough that it shows the fan’s there could be hope in the QB spot next season because right now, a huge % thinks the QB position needs changed. 2. It could motivate JB further in the offseason should the team keep JB in the mix as starter, gives him more to prove in the offseason to keep the job as opposed to retain it through just the hIgh salary. This position is causing a lot of trouble in the Irsay kingdom right now.

Is it possible they are using these last two games to make a determination, if it’s in the Colts best interest in having a CAP hit of 21.5M in 2020 with Jacoby?

It’s quite possible they are evaluating him, hard. I’m just saying, if they force JB into trying to be the guy they need instead of the avg starter he has shown to be, it’s gonna get people fired eventually if he can’t turn it around. Maybe he can but they better be careful. They may be about the only 2 people in the country who feel JB warrants the risk currently.

id like to see what Kelly has but I’m not pounding the table for him either.

  7. 4 pages of entries and 160+ votes for a 90% belief that we should be looking at Kelly. Stubbornness will eventually get you fired. Better be certain the move pays off. Loyalty to one allows for loyalty from others to be removed.

    insanity definition?

Having a stud QB like Luck, really masked a lot of deficiencies on the team.

I still support Ballard 100%, but he’s trending in the wrong direction now.

After three years, I think this will be his most challenging off-season.

I can certainly agree with this. I think a stuffed turd would have been perceived as 100 times better than what Grigson showed after the 2012 draft and subsequent GM of the year award. CB is a genuinely like able guy and a much better presenter of the message than Grigson was but so far, his drafts have overall netted much more than Grigson accomplished during his time. Grigson got high ticket items in Luck, TY Kelly and perhaps Geathers. CB has picked Leonard and Nelson so far as stars. You could add in Smith and Willis has looked good as well and Mack. The rest so far hasn’t either panned out or been too injured to tell yet. Turay has promise. Hooker has shown promise. Grover and a few others have shown promise but each so far have picked exactly 2 super stars during the GM career. I hope we get a full dose of wow, our guys finally came around in full and CB becomes a legend with his draft picks and FA management. He still has some time to shine.

I think that Ballard overall had done a good job of raising the floor of the team, or in other words, he's added good depth.

However, the ceiling isn't too high either, thus an average team.

He hit on Nelson, who plays guard. You can make an argument that although Nelson may be one of the best guards in the league, how much impact does he have on the game? I think D. Leonard is a difference maker at a position that can impact the game, and was a great pick.

All of his other draft picks seem to be fairly average.

What I think is with Andrew Luck at the helm, coupled with a superstar guard in Nelson, it was an extremely impactful pick. With a QB like Brissett, he is neutralized to make an impact. It actually appears that the entire offense can’t make an impact with JB at the helm.

the proof in my theory is look at Ebron, look at TY and to a degree, look at Doyle. None of these guys made any impact this year with JB but blew up under Luck last season. It’s amazing what a high quality, competent QB will do for a team. Without one, and they don’t have to be a Luck or Peyton level QB, but they do have to be competent, you will look just like what we’ve looked like this season. Terrible mostly.

Ballard better produce at an extremely high level this offseason in his draft and FA plan or his seat is getting hot. I don’t care how personable the guy is, he is going to have to show higher results than a Grigson led team.

So, both Kenny Moore and Quincey Wilson are ruled out for this game.  Who will play nickel corner?  Or do we simply shout "ghost man at nickel"?

Honestly, does it even matter who plays this next few weeks at any position? I’d suggest the only guys who are going to play with 100% passion and effort will be the soon to be FA guys looking for a better contract next season. Bags are packed

  11. I’d come out with the flea flicker, then come out in a wishbone formation, then I’d line up with JB out wide and 3 RB’s in the QB formation with the other  2 flanking him. Maybe just have 3 olineman and the QB and RB with everyone else as the targets. Quick slant and boom, 6 points lol

Wouldn’t you describe Luck that way also? Herbert is a smart kid. He has like a 4.0 GPA and going to school for medicine. He is a kid you don’t have any concerns off the field. I was watching a interview with him. His personality reminds me a lot of Eli Manning.

Possibly.  I guess I would have to see him in an interview.  Eli and Drew Bledsoe were two that came to my mind when I heard McShay's remarks.

It is great that a QB is super smart, Luck was supposed to have a photographic memory, never seen that aspect of his game but whatever. I want a QB who can play the game, make the throws and be available each game. A comparable to Eli would be fine for me.

as for the introvert aspect, the player will eventually have his guys rally for him if he shows his craft on the field. Don’t need a stern field general like Peyton was, would like a little more vocal than Luck was but I’ll take a performer over a verbal guy everyday.

as for the guys who are up for possible our pick, I’m thinking I’m not moving up unless I absolutely know he is going to be a producer in this league. If he comes with too many concerns, I look for that game wrecker for the Dline if he is there or a dominant OT as my first pick if that QB doesn’t just naturally fall to me. Trenches first if the QB isn’t there.
