I would rather start the future with a guy we draft then another teams left overs. He would fit perfect though in Reichs offense.

If he fits perfectly then why would you want to get a new kid that needs seasoned? You never know what you get in a draft pick but you know exactly what you have in a 6 year vet. If it’s a seamless transfer into our system, I’d be in for sure. And if I felt he could get us to near Luck style of play, I’d be almost willing to give my earliest second round for him, maybe trade him for our first and they give us their second round or something like that. If that were the case, I’d have to be pretty dang sure that Carr was my future guy for the next 8 years though.

  2. I’d be willing to give them our 3rd this year and maybe even our second this year depending on how badly you think the team would want Carr. I’d not give the early second and definitely not the first round pick for the QB. Would he be a glove fit for our offense will be the questions our team would have to ask. I don’t watch the raiders much unless they are playing us. I know he has a big arm, how is his progression reading of defenses? I feel like he is a pretty good QB so I’m not sure what’s the issue out in Oakland and the desire to rid themselves of him. Maybe he has had issues with personality of Gruden and that’s just at an impasse now. Idk, I’d definitely pursue him in a FA way if he hit the street. Maybe we could straight up trade for Brisket?

    We can do both.

You’re right, you solve both by getting a better performance from the QB spot, that solve the QB and the WR position with one person. You absolutely can’t solve both using one draft if you don’t first solve the main puzzle. Again, doesn’t mean we need Peyton Manning but you need at least a Trent Dilfer. We don’t even have one of those. Now CB May get lucky and find 3-4 real hits in this upcoming draft that contribute in the manner that We seen with Nelson and with Leonard, but to expect a QB,  a CB, a DT and a WR that are all high level hits, I think you’re asking for a high bar.  It’s possible that we use the FA route to obtain one of those positions as well but which one and are you certain they come and make an instant impact as well? At least Houston has produced this year. Makes you wonder what having Turay off the other side with Houston looks like??

I believe this team has enough bones to do well with a slightly above avg QB in the building, we don’t have that with JB and I think most can accept that fact. What is a little concerning is how the coaching has handled adversity. If you take out Luck, did they change enough to adapt for just having JB? On the defensive side though, is not having Turay enough of a reason not to figure out large gaping holes in your defensive scheme? We’ve played plenty of teams where their star DE or DT or CB or Safety was out and we never could exploit the back ups. People exploited our starters too often. I’m pretty concerned over the lack of creativity on defense to expect big things next year unless we really hit on multiple positions with draft and FA.

We lack playmakers. We need a stud next to TY. No matter who is the QB we need to upgrade. TY isn’t getting younger.

I don’t disagree that we will need to add around TY but my point of this exercise was to show that without a competent QB, it really won’t matter who you have around him. I wished I had the All22 so I could see how often JB is missing guys that are left wide open yet he doesn’t look their way. Luck on the other hand could search 3 reads in 2-3 seconds and make a decision where as JB stays pretty much on read number one and waits. We’ve all admitted this is JB, we need better than what he has provided. If he couldn’t work with TY, EE or any other receiver this season to make them look decent, a new, younger star isn’t going to come in and get us where we need.

gotta fix the QB spot first and foremost.

WithTheFirstPick.com 3 Round mock is one of the best I've seen for the Colts:

    1) Javon Kinlaw IDL

    2-1) Jordan Love QB

    2-2) Brycen Hopkins TE

    3) JK Dobbins RB

A major upgrade on the dline, and a revamp on offense. Dobbins is a great 3 down back, if he lasts to the 3rd that's an incredible value. Only thing about this draft is there's no WR taken in the first 4 picks, which is worrisome to me in a draft loaded with WR talent. Maybe in this scenario it will be addressed via FA? Haven't really looked to see who was hitting the open market this offseason?

I honestly do not believe pass catcher is a problem on our team, we have a way bigger problem in the pass thrower. TY, Pascal, Campbell,  Johnson, Fountain, Doyle are all adequate catchers for an avg to above avg QB. JB is not avg at this point. I’d be fine with a draft such as this but rather worrying about the WR position, I’m concerned more with the CB spot. I’d prefer to use the 3rd pick on a CB instead of a TE imho. Better QB play will make this wr stable look better than they have this year.

    QB

    DT

    CB

    OT/G

these are the positions we need to invest in higher than the TE or WR or Rb spots. Amazing how much we’ve taken having a Manning then a Luck QB under center make this team look so much better than they are. A mediocre QB makes teams look worse than they really are and JB is barely mediocre.

THAT is the QB that Colts fans want to trade JB for???

    Well not now lol

Some people are so anti-JB they would rather have Fat Albert as QB. They can't even enjoy a team blowout win without a bashing JB. We could win 55-0 and JB would still suck in their minds.

    38-6 Indy.

Yes, this game does not change JB. He still can’t scan the field.  A poor panthers team with nothing to play for has allowed this game to look waaaaay better than we are under JB. He still isn’t the future for this team imho.

I don't think teams can simply sit all of their important players 14 games into a season.  They can do that in preseason, and maybe the last game of the season, but doing so this early compromises the integrity of the NFL.

The way some act, we need to just shake hands at the start and concede the game. Don’t want to risk injury for next season. Probably same people who won’t let their kids grow up and explore and fail at things. No skinned knees on learning to ride a bike. Helmets for the kids walking on sidewalks. You know.

They get paid to play or to sit. They get paid to do what their coaches/gms want them to do. And the coaches and management get paid to evaluate risk/reward and make appropriate decisions. In what world does the risk-reward calculation end on the side of playing them in those last two games? You are not improving your chances of a superbowl here. You are diminishing them.

Leonard already talked about how scary his concussion was and there were times he didn't know if he will be able to play again. Now it seems like he has another concussion. That's 2 this year. and one of them at least was pretty bad. At 4-5 concussions players nowadays start thinking about retiring. So again... how did risk-reward calculation worked out today?

Nelson concussion, Leonard concussion, second of the season, Khari injured... Why? What do we win here?

Well let’s just cancel the last game altogether since neither team has anything to play for. I’m sure the fans who have paid for the “whole” season tickets won’t mind. C’mon man, it’s rough sports, it’s entertainment as well.

Great. One more concussion for Leonard after the trouble he had clearing protocol earlier in the year? WHY ARE OUR ALL PROS AND PRO BOWLERS IN THERE IN THIS DOG % AWFUL GAME?

Because they get paid to play the games. It’s not like we are concerned for a playoff spot. The players have to play a game here. It’s just part of things.

    Can't see the game.

Do we have a defense this week?  Or is it Grier's play?

Haven't seen many comments about our D.

Same D, just a rookie QB in his first game, missing a few starters. Our D has poor cb’s and scheme is below avg and unimpressive majority of time. Still the same wide open spaces created, qb is just not hitting them like someone who is experienced.

I can't figure this team out lmao . I give up! One week we play like the 2006 Colts, the next week we play like chumps haha . JB playing like Vick today lmao . Hey we can even get a free BigMac tomorrow because Houston got a sack. This stuff is funny.

Uh that’s a negative. JB is playing just as avg as JB always plays. You see the decent and then the bad. At least he has made some nice decisions with his game today (runs at the right time). Accuracy still awful and no touch deep. Either 5 yards too deep or short or wide. The game plan still lacks creativity. I know that JB limits this team but I’m still wondering if we have the right coaches in the building to complete this championship team that Irsay has begged for. I know a better QB helps tremendously but dang the plans on offense and defense is questionable
