    I would agree with that

We will need an LT VERY soon...... if its the right person, they could slide in at RG or RT, until cantstanzya retires........

    If RT, move Smith inside

    On Tua

Maybe I should have said.... if the medicals turn out positive (so far so good)

Watching the talking heads the past 48 hours, the love for Tua remains very high

There are a few folks thinking (rumorville) that there may be people trading up for Tua

As a regular person on the outside, his medical issues over his career itself lends for concern. That hip problem is by far the biggest concern for me moving forward. If that quickly gets Re-injured, it then becomes a chronic issue and could there be any issues with blood flow that causes a bo Jackson like condition and sends him to retirement early. He is a big risk, as big a risk as hoping Love or Herbert pans out in football skills imho. Teams like Miami and a few other teams who has a fan base that is used to disappointment are better suited to take the risk of a QB failing. Our market needs to hit after having Manning and then Luck and seeing the disaster that JB gave us. Irsay is wealthy but his business is all tied to the team. He doesn’t own Gillette or other major companies to tap into if the fan base falls back. Indy has to produce a winning team to stay viable and to attract other free agent stars.

You get what I said before and what I still say

Love was going to test very well

He has all the needed skills

I think it’s a high likelihood that he is gone before our pick

I guess I am coming around to trading up...... but for a better prospect.... like Tua

I see Tua and Burrows as blue chip prospects

I don’t see a blue chip in Love......

If I am giving up large capitol...... it’s for a safer pick

I see the potential in Love.......  I am ok with him being taken at 13..... IF he is the guy the front office is in love with

You list Burroughs and Tua and then say safe pick. Tua by no means is a safe pick because he has such a medicals history. Everything else, Tua has shown he is elite but that list of medical history is rough. It’s almost like saying Loves medical history is spotless but his hands are small and could be fumble prone. Both are definitely concerns, which one is less when picking? All of these guys give you a reason to pause in moving up. I’m a big proponent of just staying put.

I think Kinlaws  draft value maybe sliding based on his knees

I’m very concerned about the knee for sure if I’m CB.  Are there any comparisons for any other DT’s with tendinitis and how it affected their career at an early stage? Quite honestly if Brown is off the board and we really have medical concern with Kinlaw, I’d almost be as happy to take the best OT left and pick the remaining best DT at 34 and TE/WR 44.

Ballard is actually the opposite. He pretty much tells you what he's doing..... Then.... He does it.

True, mostly but when is the first time he throws that curve ball when you’re looking for the fastball he throws 99% of the time. It just takes once. This high up in the draft, this would be a perfect time to mix everyone up.

all I can say is that it’s draft season, FA is right around the corner, we have some needs and we have tons of cash and cap space. Everyone with talent and desire to get paid is linked to us. Top draft picks are linked to us. We have AC apparently coming back but he isn’t signed so who knows, he could be smoke screening it too. Do we stay with JB or Kelly and take a top WR or DE instead of a QB at 13? The reason to throw all the misinformation and wonder is to keep people like us talking, guessing and looking at their favorite team all season long. It’s exciting.

Wouldn't be shocked, but would be surprised. Bigger immediate needs.

What if AC isn’t coming back, would you take this tackle at 13 then? Let’s assume our qb’s and DT’s are all gone and this man is on the board with no AC? What if AC knows he isn’t coming back but to help the colts cover up a need and expose draft plans, he goes along with the press bit that says he is coming back and is in contract negotiations. Never know, CB always keeping everyone guessing. Conspiracy man lol.

He never did actually retire. Just wanted to be fully healthy for when he did come back. I love Eric Berry as both a player and as a person, however; not sure why he would want to come her to be our 3rd safety.

    Would he start over Willis??

If he played up to the standard he once set, or near it, yes, he will start. I’d have real trouble believing he could reach that point at this stage in his career. I’d give him a look, a back up salary contract with tons of incentives in case he blows up and takes the starting job and plays in lots of games and produces. At this point, he is just an old name in the league. It’s like signing Andre Johnson because wow did he really perform for years on the texans. Got to us and puked the bed badly. Looked about 80 years old for us.

This wouldn’t surprise me. A veteran guy. He said he took a year off on purpose. But who they going to let go. I like our safety group. It’s actually one of the strongest groups on the team.  Although it wouldn’t surprise me I don’t see it. Odum has been pretty good and you would cut him. Nah this isn’t happening.

Let him compete and cut the loser. That’s a plus if Geathers and Berry are signed for back up roles and we pick the best of the group to start the season. Berry isn’t the 2016 guy anymore. My expectations would be minimal.

Most of the talking heads are now saying end of the first to mid second.

I still think it's more likely mid second or third. I love the guy as an ND fan, but I think teams will settle down from the hype, and likely pick guys with more production last year. But a team or GM may very well fall in love. The size and speed combo is very rare.

Boykin last year had good measureables and a lot of buzz after his 40 (4.42 too). He was the same height, just less weight. His production was minimal (only 200 yards), but did have 3 TDs (RZ threat).

Yes!! When they compare his tape and production in college vs his measurables, his stock will settle in. His issues aren’t size and speed for sure, all things you can’t teach, his issues are separation, routes and concentration of each catch. He has had his share of poor drops. Look at his stats against the really good teams and his production isn’t flattering at all. I’m a big ND fan as well and with a 3rd, yes but not with our first 3 picks.

32 GMs - 32 different boards. If someone has Eason as a Top 10 player, there's nothing you can do about it.

I'd wait till nfl.com puts out its grade, the draft tends to be closer to the nfl.com draft grade for players than any other site, based on history.

A former GM gave that ranking I’d guess. Bet that GM is named Grigson lol.

This would be the dream pick. BPA at a huge position of need. I would happily go something like Brown in the 1st, Aiyuk/Jefferson at 34, and Gordon at 44. Would be a dream scenario honestly.

I’d see what OT was available at 34 maybe but Jefferson wouldn’t be bad. Gordon at 44? He might be a 3rd round pick. Idk?? Will see after the combines who goes up or down.

Rather have  derwin james. Hooker has not lived up to my expectations.  I was hoping  he'd  be a beast like ed reed

The question is, under the exact same circumstances that Hooker operates under, would James or Reed be any different? You kind of have to have a group to play well not just one guy. Basketball, maybe one guy makes the whole difference. In football, you need several more parts to shut down offenses. Hooker needs more chaos created in front of him in order to allow him to roam free and make plays.

If we get a decent 3T, and aren't bottom 1/3 in pressures, he'll look great.

    Needs to stay healthy though.

I agree, we get 50% better in pressuring the QB from our dline and this defense, and Hooker, look tons better. When we get either Brown or Kinlaw in the draft or Jones (insert FA DT), this defense will do so much better.

Darius Leonard and Hargrave  played together in college so could see a reunion of the sorts.  Hargrave played in a 4-3 base as a LDT in college and obviously has the skills to play NT for the Steelers.  Wouldn’t call Gravedigger a tweener and he is good at clogging up the lanes and stopping the run.  Seeing how he is projected to make 15m+/yr in FA should tell you something, think t5 echelon at his position.

So he is a clogger not a 3 tech? What was he thought of coming out of school? I just know nothing of this guy.

Damn, that's a lot of work you put into those QB. Props for it. I agree with a lot of your evaluations with the main difference being in degree of the strength/weakness(example "Love can't throw left" - I think I pointed out that he does have trouble with his footwork and throwing off his back foot on some throws to the left in another thread, but I don't think it's as dire of a situation as you are describing) and the level of emphasis on some of them which probably leads to different draft range evaluations but overall I think you've done a great job capturing the essence of most of those QBs.

My biggest disagreement is about Fromm's arm strength. I don't think it's above average and I think you know it, which is why you put it as a weakness. If it was above average it wouldn't be a weakness IMO. If you start listing NfL starting QBs by arm strength I think you will quickly realize that there is no chance in hell his arm strength would rank anywhere close to the top ...20 even I would say, let alone top 15.

Anyways very good write up and thanks for your effort. I enjoyed reading it.

The arm strength aspect is waaaaay overrated in the nfl. I mean, wasn’t the big knock on Manning coming into the league just an above avg arm strength and not elite like Leafs? He did ok. I’ll take the trait of smart and field awareness over elite strength. It’s cool to watch guys flick the wrist and the ball travel 70 yards on a rope but give me a guy who knows where everyone is going to be and how to read the defense I’ve that arm guy. 10 yards at a time until you get to the end zone is all we need. Whether that takes 15 plays or 3, I’ll take a guy who just knows and plays football, who cares about all those elite single traits.

    Well here's the PFF's mock:

    https://www.pff.com/news/draft-pff-2020-nfl-mock-draft-dolphins-trade-tua-tagovailoa

Colts trade down with the Cowboys from 13 to 17 and select....

And then the Colts go QB with the WAS pick in the second round:

Then the Colts go WR with their own second round pick:

So what say you, Colts nation?

I do not like this scenario at all. Epenesa sounds a lot like Sheard. Decent at both skills but not dominant. I’d prefer to go different route and as of now, I’m not a fan of Fromm and what’s been written on him. Surely we can do better.

  15. I’d take the trade of:

we take Foles and eat his cap space. In return, we get the Jags #9 pick and give them our3rd round pick plus eat that cap hit. I let CK and NF battle it out in camp and see who has the spot. Either Foles outright wins in Franks system, which Foles should have the clear advantage, or CK shows he really belongs. We cut or trade both JB and Hoyer and see who is available at #9&13 in the first. We get two blue chips and still have essentially a low first rd pick with 34. That should bet some really nice talent to build around. We could get a DT, OT and WR from this draft that starts first game.

don’t get me wrong here, I don’t trust NF to be a star player in the team, rather I’m banking on CK taking that spot. Foles can stay this year and mentor Kelly while also being a capable back up off the bench, where he excelled at in Reichs system in Philly. I also don’t see the Jags doing anything close to this type of move either so it’s all just draft chatter and playing with different scenarios. Offseason is long.

I think Willis was the most surprising. He played absolutely solid. Rock was decent. Okereke was good. Campbell was below average. Tell showed flashes.

    1.) Willis

    2.) Okereke

    3.) Rock

    4.) Tell

    5.) Campbell

This is my order as well. 1-2 could easily flip flop. You just can’t judge Campbell because of the injuries. He wasn’t injury prone in school iirc so hopefully all his bad luck is well behind him. I want to see Banagu make some noise those season though or he may become our version of Jerry Hughes II. Sent packing and then gets a chance elsewhere and they get to unwrap his potential perhaps.

    Consider the following scenario:

    1. Four QBs are taken before the Colts choose at #13. Tampa Bay jumps the Colts and grabs Love, after the Big 3 go as expected.

    2. Both DTs, Brown and Kinlaw, are also gone.

    3. Great WRs and OTs abound, including Jerry Jeudy.

    4. The Colts get several tempting offers to trade down for extra picks.

    5. Miami wants a top WR to grow with Tua, wants Jeudy, and offers the Colts #18 and #56 for #13 and the Colts' 4th rounder.

The question: do you make this trade? If so, who do you grab at #18? If not, who do you take at #13 under this set of facts?

    Interesting question and scenario.

    1. I still maintain we have our QB in Kelly so I don’t think it matters about the QB’s taken. I see what’s on the board now.

    2. I can’t see both the DT’s taken, Brown yes but not both. So I’d take either of those two DT’s but under your scenario, they are gone so I’d trade down.

    3. If AC retires and we have the chance to grab the first OT off the board, I go OT and no trade.

    5.  If the above criteria is met, we still have AC, both the DT’s off the board, I make the trade but not giving the 4th. I’d throw in next years 4th maybe but I’m staying in this draft picks.

hard to answer who I take at 13 in your scenario as I don’t know who was taken already. Good question here. A different perspective.
