  1. The Colts don't have a need to draft a QB. LT, or TE in the first round. They may want to draft an EDGE. but I think they still want to see Paye. A shut down corner?...I think they roll with the young guys. So it seems that a position that they may want to upgrade is WR. Just saying, there are not many positions that the Colts would drop a first round pick on.
  2. I agree. I think a person rolls easier when the diagnosis is mild. When its severe, then they want to know for sure the various options.
  3. It does seem like there was some meddling by Irsay. When he said that they were not going to trade JT very early in the process, it sort of forced Ballard and SS into more narrower parameters by which to resolve the situation. Whether or not they actually considered trading him is another thing, but I don't ever get the feeling that Irsay's words in these situations are helpful.
  4. Sure, and its not like our receivers are any different from the seasons where we had no deep passing game. Sam could probably dink and dunk as well as Minshew and AR (who is not the most accurate short thrower), and run better than Minshew. Sam's head isn't as good as Minshew's, but experience would likely help that.
  5. Since the tweet said that AR was seeking multiple opinions, I assumed he was the driver of it. If the tweet said that The Colts recommended that AR seek multiple (specialists) opinions, I would have assumed they were the driver of it.
  6. All three previous QBs are not good enough to be the NFL anymore. So its not just different QBs, its at least two bad QBs and one that was limited (Rivers). Young does not appear to be talented enough to have warranted a trade up from 9 to 1...especially with Stroud coming out too.
  7. For once, I'd like to see Sam get the full support of the team and the coaching staff for 6 games. This is an evaluation/development season for everyone, and we know what Minshew is.
  8. Because the comment you quoted was talking about the WF grade. I assumed you were associating the WF grade with opinions "in here" since that's what you said.
  9. Done with what? Our budding SuperBowl season? And before you bring up BAL, check out their game yesterday.
  10. I agree. I think pro football reference brings it up because many folks use shallow evidence for their position when they engage in some sort of persistent debate. If you think its a bogus stat, I'm curious as to why you brought it up.
  11. What do you mean "in here". Walterfootball is not affiliated with Colts Forum.
  12. Sam does pretty much everything good enough. IMO, Sam is a more direct comparison to AR than Minshew, albeit obviously not as physically gifted.
  13. Why would AR want to risk his long term earnings potential by coming back 3 or 4 games too soon? I'm not calling the Colts evil or anything, but I think AR has more of a vested interest in his long term health than an NFL team does.
  14. Do QBs get credited with how good or lousy their team's defense is? I mean, they sit on the bench and drink water during that part of the game.
  15. Right, so they protect themselves against their teams that might want them back ASAP to win games this season.
  16. FWIW, WalterFootball.com grades every trade and free agent signing ,,,in this case a contract extension. Posting from the site, and giving credit to WalterFootball.com. Colts re-sign RB Jonathan Taylor (3 years, $42 million; $26.5 million guaranteed): D Grade The drama is finally over. After months of speculating if Jonathan Taylor would play for the Colts again, or where he’d be traded, we finally have an answer. Taylor will remain with Indianapolis on a new 3-year deal worth $42 million. Taylor is obviously a talented running back, but this contract is a major misuse of funds. It should be obvious to everyone in the league that running backs shouldn’t be paid very highly. The demand is low, and players at the position are extremely injury-prone. Nick Chubb, considered the safest of the top running backs this year, tore up his knee in Week 2. No player at the position is safe. If Taylor weren’t such a gifted player, this contract would warrant an “F” grade. It’s still a horrendous deal for the Colts, who apparently still think running backs are valuable. Someone needs to tell Jim Irsay that it’s not 1999 anymore.
  17. Seeking multiple opinions might mean that AR is protecting himself against the Colts wanting to rush him back for some perceived division title competition,,...,and he's thinking long term with himself. I don't know why I would care how soon he gets back. Its about making sure this injury to his throwing shoulder isn't a reoccurring thing.
  18. Sam may not have the same arm strength, but he can escape just fine. More importantly, he has shown the ability to get tackled and not get injured or fumble 50% of the time (exaggeration, for the wordsmiths reading this).
  19. If you watch Moss run only 4 or 5 times (like I saw him in BUF), its easy to see that he tends to run with "forward lean" like Edge did (a Bill Polian term) which gives him good power and balance after taking a hit. RBs like that also tend to fall forward when being tackled. It also helps with pass blocking. A lot of RBs don't have that natural lean, including JT. And he's shifty, so he doesn't get hit directly. I was surprised by his speed today.
  20. And he may have been signed to this team with the specific idea that he would play against Henry/TEN. In addition to STs.
  21. 3 and 0 with Minshew and Moss as #1 RB.
  22. He's a quality player, and was the same way when on the field in BUF. And a great resume from Utah.
  23. CJ Stroud has just set the NFL record for throwing the most passes without an interception to start a career. 177.
  24. That tackle of AR looked pretty routine. Nothing wrong with the call or ARs decision. If a player can't survive that tackle, I don't know what to say. In fact, none of the three hits that caused his injuries have seemed very severe.
