  1. Ohh i didn't know we were going by PFF, well then surely Ryan Lindley having a batter rating in this years playoff game vs Carolina than Luck when we beat Detroit in 2012 means we should trade 1 for 1 immediately.

And what is your method? Coin toss? Eye test? Distant merry memories? BTW, PFF grades are for full season, not one game. Yep, Luck can be worse than Lindley. In one game. Try better.
  2. Yep, Redding was good, it's not like he is on decline, sure.

Jean-Francois was really good in SF?

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/01/01/free-agent-defensive-interior/

Not really, Aubrayo was even better.

Toler was near elite in Arizona?

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/01/01/free-agent-cornerbacks/

Not really, and he has played only 308 snaps.

Landry was a pro-bowler before we got him?

    Zbikowski was better.

    Funny, very funny.

  3. *Not Manuskys biggest fan* ..... but, you can't go into player specific threads and complain about nearly every defensive player Werner, Landry, etc ... (many rightfully so) and talk about how most lack talent and/or need cut/replaced, than turn around and call for Manusky's head because he can't field a good Defense with the same players you were only minutes earlier complaining about their lack of talent & replacing them.

Right. Jackson is awful, Landry is terrible, Freeman is bad, Chapman is awful, Toler is terrible, Redding is bad, Werner is awful, Jean-Francois is terrible... suddenly "with all that talent Manusky..."
  4. trade a 1 and a 2 for JJ Watt, pick up demaryius thomas, Ndamukong Suh, and Darrelle Revis. And maybe get Adrian Peterson in the process.

Nice! You forgot Mike Iupati, Orlando Franklin, Devin McCourty, Justin Houston, Kareem Jackson... Luck - 22 mil. Suh - 20 mil. J.J. Watt - 20 mil. Revis - 16 mil. :)
  5. It really doesn't make sense actually. We both saw How teams move their #1 receiver to Toler's side and how easily he is eaten alive. I'd rather take my chances with Davis on the best receiver. I can't say the same for you.

It makes a lot of sense. When you put Davis on #1 receiver, you force both your safeties to worry about run-pass choice and coverage responsibilities. When you put Davis on one side only, you free safety from this side to play against the run more aggressively. JMO

  6. Good point, and Tobin drafted Harrison, not Polian. But the way its heading, TRich is no EJ, Werner is neither Freeney or Mathis, and Fleener (pick #33) is no Clark (pick #24).

My point isn't to criticize Grigson, since I think he has done well with what he had, but its to point out the lack of impact players on the roster compared to past years.

The team has enough blue collar good players. Grigs needs to find a few guys with more athleticism.

Maybe it is harder to evaluate all that underclassmen? Right now it looks like 1st round filled with Jr and So only.
  7. Excellent post by the OP. Yes, WR may be the position with the biggest need for upgrading in the offseason.

IMO, the overall problem with the roster is the lack of playmakers on both sides of the ball. Only TY and Mathis are the real play makers, players that the opponents have to plan for. Mathis has been out all year, and we saw the offense when TY was out.

For all of the criticism Polian got, he did build a team that at one time had EJ, Marvin, Reggie, Dallas, Freeney, Mathis, and Sanders.

Since Grigs has taken over, the team has only one player, TY, that is close to being the quality player those guys were.

By the way, wasn't Harrison drafted by Bill Tobin?

EJ, Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Freeney were 1st rounders. Grigson has only 3 drafts. It's really hard to get 5 1st round picks in 3 drafts. Esp. when you must draft QB with one of this picks.
  9. Any coach in the league right now would win that division with the Colts. Easily.

The Titans finished second with seven wins last year. Winning the South is not a difficult task. Stop acting like taking the Colts to the playoffs is a hard thing to do, because the one time it was difficult, Bruce Arian's was in charge.

Right now Sean Payton can't win garbage NFC South. With Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham, Mark Ingram.. Fire him immediately!

  10. Next year is next year. Plus, we need more help on defense than we do offense.

What's our biggest need right now?

    Hint: It's certainly not WR.

I like the idea of this kid being fast and I hope he does picks the Colts. But is WR our biggest need? No.

How many roster moves Grigson can make before start of FA? Hint: It's certainly not 1. ;)

  11. Allen and Fleener will not get outrageous deals. While both good, Fleener has not been a superstar tight end, and Allen has played very well, but also not superstar levels and has had injury issues, so ok deals for both of them but nothing outrageous. Bradshaw I can see not getting resigned, again bc he has had injury issues limiting production, if he is resigned, I think it would be very team friendly. Butler is a solid at best nickel corner, definitely wont sniff a contract close to that of Vontae. Freeman is a solid ILB but not amongst the leagues best, he will get a nice 4 year deal, probably along the lines of DQ Jackson. Redding is getting old, his next deal will be solid but not huge. Castonzo will get a decent contract. Some have mixed feelings about him, but he has been a solid producing LT and not dealt with many injury issues. Luck will get whatever he wants of course, but hopefully he takes a modest deal.

I dont see how WR is not a need, you hit the nail on the head, Reggie is an old FA that at this point will retire as a Colt, he will get a deal if he wants to keep playing but it will not be a major deal.

Nicks will not be back, so we will have an opening at WR. why not sign another young guy to a very team friendly 3-4 year contract? Moncrief, TY, Carter, with Wayne as a veteran presence would be a great receiving corps, and allow for future growth

You're right, but the Colts still have to pay Mathis, Davis, Cherilus, RJF, Jones, Jackson, dead money for Landry, not only resign Luck and others. Taking chances like this one is the best way to make roster better and cheaper.

  12. The offense will roll with Luck. The problem is he needs a O-Line to protect him to be able to throw to any receiver.

We most certainly need to draft on defense.... ILB (DQ sucks, Freeman can't do it alone, and we have zero depth) OLB (Werner isn't awesome, who knows how Mathis will perform?) and safeties (LaRoid is garbage, and Adams is decent, but getting old)

What's your plan, arm chair GM?

So "we most certainly need to draft on defense" (OLB, ILB, FS, SS), "he (Luck) needs a O-line" (draft? FA?), and you don't want Grigs to take chances on WRs? Do you really believe Colts will be better team with good OL and Luck to Lenz combo? Bring that kid to Indy, why not? One need less. That's my plan. :)

  13. Yay! Just what we need.....more receivers!

    We need a sarcasm font.

Why not? Everybody on this forum want Grigs to spent all draft picks on defence: replace Landry (bad), Adams (old and average), Redding (old), Jackson (bad), Toler (average). On offense... Wayne will be a 36 years old FA after this season. Nicks will not be resigned (well, this forum wants it that way). So it is Hilton, Moncrief and Whalen The Average as Colts' WR core. Sign FA receiver? What about resigning Luck, Hilton, Allen, Fleener? Injury for Hilton leaves us with Moncrief and Whalen. That's your plan?
