  1. Manning unfortunately was in no position to audible , as players in offense forced only that run as u note

    from your article

The Broncos' grouping and mind- set ought to have been named "Rush Limbaugh" because they went ultra-conservative at that juncture.

They should have passed on first or second down, and definitely should have switched to a receiving package on third down — and, at least, given Manning (28-of-43) the option to call an audible at the line, and throw to a tight end (nine catches, 90 yards).

Manning (who couldn't change the play with that bunch in the game) was forced to go with the running play with an outside runner spearing again inside toward right guard. No gain.

( this is basically the same for that whole series do to lack of skill players to audible to and way plays were set up for the run with blocking packages and a prayer  , i just dont have past articles that detail this  to link nor know how to find them ))

    It was a joke: 5 OL + 1 OT ("...third tackle...") + 1 RB ("...a running back...") + 1 FB ("...and a fullback...") + 2 TE ("...two blocking tights end...") + 1 WR ("...only one receiver...") = 11 = no room for a QB.

Here's what's going on: The Ravens knew the Broncos would run, based on the time and the offensive package (a running back and a fullback, two blocking tights end, a third tackle and only one receiver). So the defense jammed eight players, with two more defensive backs attacking the line at the handoff.

It's not Manning's fault. He wasn't on the field. :)

  4. baltimore didnt get beat by it hence the reason their super bowl champs. one play, he should have stayed home and instead bit the fake and got beat by Kap, poor discipline. hopefully he fixes that.

Well, they did get beat once San Francisco started to use read option in the second half

  5.             (trade with the Cardinals).

                 2. Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International, 6-0, 217.

3a. Jamie Collins, OLB, Southern Mississippi, 6-4, 250.

    3b. Jon Bostic, ILB, Florida, 6-1, 245.

    4. Leon McFadden, CB, San Diego State, 5-10, 193.

    6. Dustin Hopkins, K, Florida State, 6-2, 193.

7a. Quanterus Smith, OLB, Western Kentucky, 6-5, 250.

    7b. Abry Jones, DE, Georgia, 6-4, 313.

  6. Where do we go in the Draft?

Anywhere we want to go,  that's where!

A very nice spot to be in......

Right now nobody knows our priorities. We sign Toler, but Trufant is a strong option. We sign Landry, but Cyprien is a strong option also. Walden's contract very well might be a BIG smokescreen (all that "I'm a starter" stuff). It is difficult to trade ahead of Colts now.

Greg Toler # 7 (#4 among CBs with 6 years of experience or less), Darius Butler # 8 (#5 among CBs with 6 years of experience or less).

"Ault: Absolutely. I'm not here to tell you that the 49ers should run the read 16, 17 times a game. You can't do that in the NFL. But I think by running the read play, it's in your offensive system and you're going to run it five times, nine times a game, it's one more thing you've got to defend. And then when you throw the play-action pass off it, that's another thing. So it's not just one dimension that you've got to look at, it's a couple of things. You see Kaep run that 56-yard touchdown, and you say, great, that's the read option. And it is great. But I think one of the things that set that up was a couple of the play-action passes out of the pistol".

  10. It is not a fad, nor an offense. It is a constraint play to keep defense honest, not overly aggresive. Even Patriots run read-option. Against Texans Brady meshed football to a RB, saw defender closing gap, kept football and threw football to the screen. Who said QB have to run with a football? He can execute speed option, screen pass and even downfield pass behind OL blocking outside zone (moving lateraly). In general read option is a part of bigger concept - packaged plays. And there is a remedy against read option - scrape exchange - known for a long time.

  11. border line C+ /B-

he has been beat on a few plays, some plays he looks out of shape, and the injuries do not help the cause. yeah he made some good plays but def. was not worth a 2nd round pick. especially when guys like talib and assante samuel went awhole lot cheaper. i think we could have had him with a 3rd or 4th round pick mixed in with a 6th or 7th round pick.

but i am happy the colts did try to improve the secondary with this trade, that i give an A+ too.

Talib brings to his new team his off-field issues, Samuel - his big contract and age.

  13. We lost Peyton Manning (cut, Broncos, starter), Jacob Tamme (FA, Broncos, backup), Philip Wheeler (FA, Raiders, starter), Jerome Felton (FA, Vikings, starter), Pierre Garcon (FA, Redskins, starter), Quinn Ojinnaka (FA, Rams, starter), Dan Orlovsky (FA, Buccaneers, backup), Mike Pollak (FA, Panthers, IR), Jeff Saturday (FA, Packers, starter), Jacob Lacy (FA, Lions, backup), Dallas Clark (cut, Buccaneers, starter).

But we got Cory Redding (starter), Tom Zbikowski (starter), Mike McGlynn (starter), Samson Satele (starter), Donnie Avery (starter), Antonio Dixon (backup, Darius Butler (backup, Korey Lindsey (IR).

    How this would be matched?

  14. Lilja doesnt have the girth or strength to play in a Power Blocking scheme, when he was with the Colts we were running a Zone Blocking Scheme which is also what the Chiefs are running now

Eben Britten was drafted to play in the power blocking scheme over at Jax

Slauson or Britten or Leonard Davis (whos all have the size and girth and have been in a power blocking scheme there whole careers if they become Free Agents would be likely candidates

A couple scenarios I would look at that just came to mind

#1 looking to trade down if we finish inside the top ten in regards to the draft and drafting Barrett Jones or Chance Warmack at Guard while picking up William Beatty at RT who is in a power blocking scheme over with the Giants ran by Gilbride (Beatty was a key blocker in Browns success at Connecticut) and drafting a pass rusher in the 2nd (if we are able to pick up a 2nd after trading down)

#2 not trading down and drafting the best player available at a position of need such as Star or Jarvis Jones or Te'o and picking up Slauson or Davis in Free Agency to come in and at the very least compete for the Right Guard spot with Hicks if we still have him and drafting RT Hurst out of LSU in the 3rd and resigning Freeney to finish his career out as a Colt

Obviously there are a ton of possibilities but of the two scenarios I just named I would have to go with #1

Really like #1. I'm all for going "all offense" once again, because we still don't have enough talent around Luck. Really like Barrett Jones' versatility, kid can play RT as well. If Colts will sign Eben Britton (OG) and Mike Wallace (WR), draft Barrett Jones (C/OT/OG), Desmond Trufant (CB) and Ricky Wagner (OT), I will be a happy man.

  15. I couldn't care less about the Colts and I like Andrew Luck. But after all the vitriol and hate spewed on this site and others by Colts' fans towards RG3, I enjoy coming here and reminding this fanbase that the team they cheer picked wrong, and Washington thanks them for their selection. I don't plan on staying long anyhow loluck

As a matter of fact, Russell Wilson looks more promising...

He looks promising with M. Lynch, #1 defense and replacements refs.
