Jarvis Jones = Vernon Gholston.

Our offense is still no good and without run game can't stay on the field long enough. Without fixing O-line we are not going to play with the lead, so even elite pass-rusher is useless.
-
Bjoern Werner is a 4-3 DE / 3-4 OLB. J.J. Watt is a 4-3 UT / 3-4 DE. So Bjoern Werner is not a smaller version of J.J. Watt, like Pat McAfee is not a smaller version of Peyton Manning. Hughes is serviceable starter and Hickman and Addison are serviceable backups (Freeney is gone). Why should Colts with all their needs (RG, CB, NT, S) spend 1st round pick on 3-4 OLB?

Five surgeries in two seasons...

Satele is not untouchable. But if he missed the block which was supposed to be made by Olsen, I can’t blame Satele.
-
The guards to his left and to his right have nothing to do with the plays I saw.
Satele just whiffed on his man. One on one.
Watching the game I noticed, when the pocket collapsed on Luck, most of the time it was Satele's fault.
The guard play has, from time to time, been poor also.
But dont apoligize for Satele's poor play.by blaming Seth Olsen.
After watching all the games twice, I noticed that Satele generally stunk all preseason and now he stunk in week one.
I do agree however that we are stuck with him for the entire year. I dont expect Pagano or Grigson to replace Satele.
All I can do is hope Samson can improve.
If we can't determine pass protection schemes Colts have used, we can't blame Satele.

In this pass-happy league we will play 3-3-5 (4-2-5 with Freeney) a lot. With only one ILB on a field. We have to make sure this one is a monster. Sorry, Pat Angerer is not a monster. We need best ILB on the draft.

He hasn't made any great trades IMO. Traded a 6th round for Justice and it's looking like the Eagles got the better end of that deal. Traded KT to the Eagles for a couple of LBers both who are behind a former CFL LB. He traded up in the draft to get T.Y. Hilton (whom I have high hopes for) but he's been outplayed by 5th round Brazill. Signed McGlynn as an FA and he appears to be one of the worst lineman. Traded with the Broncos for Vaughn, traded with the Rams for Cordy and now rumors that the Colts are looking to trade for a serious vet/starter CB.
The number of trades is not a concern. The number of trades that seem to be bad trades could become a big concern if they start to PROVE to be bad trades rather than just seeming like bad trades at the moment.
So what? Grigson has to trade for starters only?

Drew Stanton and 2nd round pick for Calais Campbell.
-
Winston Justice and 2nd round pick for Darrelle Revis.

I like your draft better than the other 2 except you have to toss in at least 1 corner I would think. Our GM is an ex Olineman and our coach was a Dcoordinator. I think your draft expresses what they deem important. While we would like an all WR draft it ain't gonna happen nor would it be a smart move. We have to stop the run (NT) and rush the QB(OLB).
Thanks.
I want to explain why I’m not fond of idea drafting CB or WR with the 2nd or 3rd round picks. This year, I mean.
WR: last season Colts used I formation with only 2 WR (Wayne, Garson) a lot. That’s why Anthony Gonzalez was not utilized and Austin Collie was underutilized. With only 2 WR starting every week we don’t need 5-6 WR in roster. Right now Wayne is # 2 WR, and Austin Collie is #3 WR. We can’t get excellent #1 WR with our 2nd round pick (Blackmon, Floyd, Wright, Hill are 1st rounders for sure), but we can get excellent FB with our 6th round pick. So lets protect Luck by drafting OL with 2nd – 3rd round pick and help him to make a transition to the NFL by putting emphasis on running game.
CB: last season Colts had only 29 sacks, only Titans (28) and Buccaneers (23) had fewer. Sure, CB’s play was a part of it, but what part? I’m not ready to mark Rucker, Thomas as awful, I just want Colts to draft player, who is able to put heavy pressure on QB from 3-4 packages. Heck, even Derek Wolfe, 5-tech from Cincinnati has better value in 2nd round (if I remember correctly, Fili Moala, projected 5-tech in our new 3-4 defense, is in final year of his contract and Cory Redding is 31 years old).
-
1st round. Andrew Luck, QB.
2nd round. Vinny Curry, OLB: no one CB can cover WR for 10 seconds; however, Freeney is in final year of his contract and doesn’t want to play OLB; Jerry Hughes didn’t prove he wasn’t a bust, Mario Addison is a backup at best.
3rd round. Brandon Brooks, OG: there is only one serviceable OG in Colts roster, Joe Reitz; McGlynn, Murphy, Olsen, Tepper are backups/camp bodies (if Ijalana is going to play OG, then OT is a need, because Winston Justice is not a starter).
4th round. Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, NT: Brandon McKinney is just a backup.
5th round. James Hanna, TE.
5th round. Chris Rainey, RB: special teamer.
6th round. Adrien Robinson, TE: backup.
7th round. J.R Sweezy, DE: backup 5-tech.
7th round. Cody Johnson, FB: Colts have to use a FB.
7th round. Micah Pellerin, CB: special teamer/ backup/camp body.

Air Coryell instead of Air Raid. With strong running game (and solid defense) we can afford not to spent 1st round pick on a QB.

Keep Manning for one more year, pay him that 28 mil, let him come in shape by getting all the reps. Draft Luck, let him learn Colts system for one year. If Manning healthy trade him with more value, because 28 mil and health concerns will be not an issue any more. Surroud Luck with the young talents, drafted with that picks. If Manning is not healthy cut him. If Manning healthy and Luck is a bust, cut/trade Luck.
-
Even if Luck is next Peyton Manning taking him is not a good idea. Drafting Luck means reviving idea of an elite QB carrying bad team (after his rookie contract or even earlier Luck will be looking for a Manning-type contract). We have to be a good football team which means a lot of changes. A lot of changes requires a lot of picks. And a QB who leads a team, not carries it. Manning will carry this team till the rebuilding process is over.

Trade down once more. WAS, CLE and SEA need QB badly and will try to get Matt Barkley or Robert Griffin. So we can have 1st round pick in between 5-8, 3 2nd round picks (our own, MIA, WAS or CLE or SEA), 2 3rd round picks (our own, MIA).
Take Zach Brown, LB, with the 1st pick (cut G. Brackett, move P. Angerer to MLB and K. Conner to SLB, resign P. Wheeler and E. Simms as a backups). Take M. Barron, SS, with the 1st of the 2nd round picks, Dwayne Allen, TE, with the 2nd of the 2nd round picks (resign J. Tamme), Stephon Gilmore, CB, with the 3rd of the 2nd round picks. Take Melvin Ingram, DE, with the 1st of the 3rd round picks (cut J. Hughes, E. Foster), Levy Adcock, OT, with the 2nd of the 3rd round picks (do not resign J. Saturday, move M. Pollak to C, resign R. Diem as insurance). Trade D. Clark and our 5th round pick for 3rd round pick and take Kevin Zeitler, G. Take Shaun Prater, CB, with the 4th round pick (cut J. Lacey).
HIRE HC AND DC.

I like this pick, because in Cover 2 rushing the passer is DL responsibility. Without quality DL pass-rushers any WR can beat any DB. Coples can stop the run and rush the passer. We should take CB in the 2nd round.
-
No mentions of Linkenbach here, is he possibly good enough to stay?
As inactive backup only.
Mathis will be replaced with Hughes (due to Mathis salary), Foster and Brayton will be replaced with a drafted DE (Coples? DE on rushing downs, DT on passing downs?).

Brackett (replaced with Angerer), Saturday (replaced with Pollak), Brown.

He looks promising with M. Lynch, #1 defense and replacements refs.
