  1. The Pats are bringing Brown around slowly like they did with Jaime Collins the first year. He is being asked to learn multiple positions across the Dline too so he will need time and they can give it to him as Easley has been a beast. His explosive power has been eye catching this pre-season.

As slowly as Tavon Wilson? Ras-I Dowling? Jermaine Cunningham? Ron Brace? Terrence Wheatley? Henry Anderson plays multiple positions already.

  2. Another free agent bust by Grigson, go figure. Not drafting Malcom Brown looks really good now. I hate to complain since this team has some nice young pieces but I get depressed at the thought of how great this team would be if just a few draft picks and free agent money had been used wisely. If Andrew Luck isn't MVP leading this weak team to the playoffs I'll eat sawdust.

On September 30, 2014, Grigson extend player who had torn his Achilles tendon while working out on his own. Cut that bust! Fire Grigson!

  3. Grigson has proven to be pretty terrible when it comes to blowing money on bad FA's.

What good FA RT Grigson refused to sign instead of Cherilus? Loadholt wanted to stay in Minnesota. Andre Smith had weight issues and missed a half of the 2014 season himself. Vollmer wanted to stay in NE and had back issues.

  4. To the bolded... Pure speculation right now. I HIGHLY doubt either TE will make 7MIL in Indy. Besides, it costs MONEY when it comes to GOOD players. On top of that, and it seems this has to be reiterated continuously, playes still have to WANT to come play here. Money isn't the only deciding factor for these guys.

And SF's O-line has been garbage the last two years. Don't let Gore's numbers fool you. The same with Seattle's, to which both have progressively gotten worse.

Speculation for sure. But logic is the same: huge part of the cap will be spent on offense core.

  5. That's not what I was referencing. Your take on dome teams is crap

    Luck: 25 M/y.

    Hilton:13 M/y.

    #2 WR: 8 M/y.

    TE: 7 M/y.

    AC: 10 M/y.

That's 63 M/y for 5 players. More than 45% of the cap. It's up to you to choose, whom do you want to pay. Dominant OL? Ask SF. Dominant DL? I'll go with dominant pass rush (quality DBs included).

  6. So you'd save money, but lose production?

Walden is the better option. Mathis & Cole aren't getting any younger & Werner isn't getting any better. Now if we draft someone who immediately comes in and starts let's say opposite Newsome then I'd be fine with letting Walden walk. But right now Grigson & our cap guy who's name is slipping this mind of mine have done fabulous in terms of cap management. I don't think a Walden contract would kill us

And then if Arthur Jones ankle is serious, we could be letting him go as that'll be his second time losing the season to an ankle injury. He's going to see a specialist as we speak so that's not a good sign already

Yes, I would save money. Same for Toler and Thomas. Cut them, re-sign AC, Luck, Allen. Sign quality backups for less money. Other teams have "to bad to be full-time starter, to expensive to be backup" also. Let's look at them.

... and trade Fleener, Carter and 1st round pick for Luke Kuechly! :)

  7. Why would you cut the better person between Walden & Werner? Has Werner outside of the tipped pass that lead to the Int made any plays this preseason?

Really don't recall any aside from the one I mentioned

If I need starter, I would keep Walden as a better option. If I need backup (and re-sign AC, Luck, Allen, Fleener), I would keep Werner as a cheaper option.

  8. He should be cut but this staff has shown they hate to admit they're wrong until it's just unbearable

So someone better than Werner will be cut just cause of that. Grigson won't allow the coaches to cut his former first round pick that easily

It's really bad that our staff is like that. The NFL is a gamble, if they don't work out show them the door

Mathis and Cole are starters. So Walden, even he is better then Werner is just a backup. Walden will be cut not because of Grigson's inability to admit mistakes, but because of Walden's price. Werner is much cheaper.

  9.

Grigson traded a first round pick for Richardson. Grigson drafted Werner in the first round. Grigson signed Laron Landry. Grigson traded Jerry Hughes for Kelvin Sheppard. Are these good deals? Do these deals actually give confidence to people that Grigson knows what he is doing. I'm sorry, but Grigson is horrible at deals

New England traded 29th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft to Minnesota in exchange for Minnesota's 2013 second- (52nd – Jamie Collins), third- (83rd – Logan Ryan), fourth- (102nd – Josh Boyce), and seventh- (229th – traded with Jeff Demps for LeGarrette Blount) round selections. The Patriots spent their own 59th pick (2nd round) on Aaron Dobson, 91st pick (3rd round) on Duron Harmon, 226th pick (7th round) on Michael Buchanan.

Why not take Jamie Collins with own 59th pick, and do not take Aaron Dobson? Why not trade own 226th pick for LeGarrette Blount, and do not take Michaael Buchanan? In fact, the Patriots spent 1st round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft on Aaron Dobson, Logan Ryan and Josh Boyce. It looks dumb… in 2015.

In 2010, the Patriots traded 4th round pick of the 2011 NFL Draft for Deion Branch (48-706-5, 51-702-5, 16-145-0). Worth it?

    In 2011, the Patriots traded two draft picks, a 5th round pick in 2012, and a 6th round pick in 2013 for 15 passes, 276 yards, 1 touchdown… 3 years, 12M, 4,75M signing bonus, 4,75M guaranteed… I mean Chad Johnson.

In 2012, the Patriots trade 4th round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft for a big name… I mean Aqib Talib:

“To be fair, Talib isn’t exactly the model of consistency either. Last year he started strong with a +8.2 grade but then missed three games and earned a -8.5 grade in his remaining seven games (-0,3 for 2013 season with NE). A similar trajectory occurred in 2012, though under different circumstances: He started the season with a healthy 4.6 grade for the Bucs, got suspended for Adderall use and was subsequently traded to the Pats, and graded a -6.8 over the final six regular season games with his new club (-6,8 for 2012 season with NE)”.

    Belichick is horrible at deals?

  10. It is impossible to have dominant OL, dominant WRs, dominant run game, dominant DL, dominant DBs... So, when you have great QB and play in dome, you should have dominant passing offence and dominant pass rush. Everything else - luxury. Or you waste your QB. Manning's Colts can't win because of personel, not because of strategy.

In his last (played) season with the Colts Manning has Austin "Concussion" Collie, Anthony "A(lways)IR" Gonzalez, Tom "Crocodile hands" Santi, Taj "Who?" Smith, Blair "Thank you, mr. Manning" White, Dallas "Decline" Clark, Brody "Swing tackle" Eldridge, Jacob "Jack of all trades" Tamme, Gijon "Cut him ASAP" Robinson behind Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon. Not good.

  11. Everyone has some explaining to do.

Aaron Dobson, Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon, Jake Bequette, Ras-I Dowling, Jermaine Cunningham, Taylor Price, Ron Brace, Brandon Tate, Tyrone McKenzie, Terrence Wheatley, Shawn Crable, Kevin O'Connell all were 1st - 3rd rounders for the Patriots since 2008. WRs are a mess, qustionable DBs. Fire Belichick?

Matt Elam, Arthur Brown, Courtney Upshaw, Jah Reid, Sergio Kindle, Terrence Cody, Ed Dickson, Tavares Gooden, Tom Zbikowski, Oniel Cousins all were 1st - 3rd rounders for the Ravens since 2008. WRs? Do they have any? Fire Newsome?

  12. Based on what I've seen in preseason thus far, the WR corp is a complete mess.

Aaron Dobson (2013, 2nd round, #59): 40 receptions for 557 yards in 2013-2014. Always injured.

    Josh Boyce (2013, 4th round, #102): 9 receptions for 121 yards in 2013. That’s all.

Jeremy Ebert (2012, 7th round, #235): out of the league after 2013 season… with Jaguars.

Taylor Price (2010, 3rd round, # 90): out of the league after 2011 season… once again, with Jaguars.

Brandon Tate (2009, 3rd round, #83): out of the Patriots after 2010 season, 55 receptions for 842 yards across 6 seasons.

Julian Edelman (2009, 7th round, #232): woo-hoo, someone can lasts on the Patriots roster for 6 years!

    Matt Slater (2008, 5th round, 153): even 7 years… 1 catch in 7 seasons?! Is he a CB?

Chad Jackson (2006, 2nd round, #36): 14 receptions for 171 yards, out of the league after 2008 season.

    P.K. Sam (2004, 5th round, #164): he doesn’t even have photo on NFL.com.

    Bethel Johnson (2003, 2nd round, 45): Patriots, Saints, Vikings… 39 receptions for 606 yards in 5 seasons.

    Pathetic! No excuses!

Belichick needs to be held accountable if the WRs still stink come week 1.  This is his 16th year. Enough is enough.

  13. Parry went against the #2 Oline for a drive maybe two but he looked bad against the #2, once the 3rd and 4th units started coming in then he looked pretty good.  But he has a ways to go.

Disagree. Parry played pretty good against Barkley unit. Between 8.24 - 7.36 in the 2nd quarter, when he was in a game, he made 3 good plays against run. Then he was rested and took the field at 3.00. And again, played pretty good, jut look at run stop at 2.20.
