  1. A lot of people wanted Grigson to sign Orlando Franklin. Sure, he was so good!

After he was signed by San Diego (Tom Telesco), he wasn't so good.

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/10/07/10-worst-free-agent-signings-though-week-4/

Why? Because there is difference between Peyton and Rivers, who "has actually struggled even more when he has had time in the pocket".

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/10/30/whats-wrong-with-my-qb-philip-rivers-edition/

Mewhort was +3.2 and +5.5 (against Crenell, Watt) with Hasselbeck (2.12 second average time to attempt), but that was not the case with Luck (2.92 second average time to attempt) against New Orleans...

    Once again Grigson's fault?!

  2. I think some people are over-thinking the issues. It's pretty clear what is wrong with Luck:

    1) He's not 100%

    2) Our offensive line is horrifying and it's messing up everyone's timing

    3) Luck is trying to will us to win when we're not playing well enough, so he's over-striking and making mistakes

I don't see an easy fix to it, sadly. But I don't think you need real expertise to see what is wrong. It'd happen to any QB, I think. I can't see Rogers or Brady faring any better with an injured shoulder and our o-line. I guess we might get to see with Brady, if they keep losing linemen.

Our offensive line is NOT horrifying.

Matt Hasselbeck was +4.2 against Romeo Crenell. Jack Mewhort was +5.5 and Khaled Holmes was+1.1 against -2.1 J.J. Watt. They can be Pro-Bowlers with Tom Brady.

  3. has it actually been confirmed that Grig's is involved in day to day and game day coaching operations?

Actually not. Why should Grigson force Pagano to start Herremans, if Thornton is Grigson's pick also? The same for Johnson-Moncrief, Johnson-Dorsett, Jackson-Irving, Freeman-Moore. Grigson has brought Pep, but he has brought Chudzinski also! To me these were Pagano's choices. To start veterans over rookies, seasoned team players over newcomers.

Pagano's best interest this year is minimizing risk and hope Andrew will give him another 11-5 season in AFC South and playoff seed NOW... not to develope young players for new coach NEXT year.

Grigson has 1 more year, so he want to show a complete team NEXT year... taking chances on FA and draft picks NOW.

  4. The Colts will lose to Panthers and Broncos. Pagano will be fired next morning. Chudzinski will be named IHC. He will try to use bye week not only to prepare for Falcons, but to prepare not to lose to Bucs and Jags. And to watch his players closely. Pretty pessimistic. :(

  5. I still wish we had moved him over to RT a few years ago instead of bringing in Cherilus and us went after a corner stone LT.  He has been great but I think he would best fit at rt and we wouldn't have had to spend as much to re-sign him.  Sounds like hindsight 20/20 but a lot of things Saturday said about his foot work when evaluating  him have stuck with me.

Still he has been great for us over that time and well deserved his contract...hopefully this haze that is over top us all clears soon.

Please, name a cornerstone LT taken in 2013 draft and later (pick #25 and later). Or cornerstone LT FA (without history of injuries just like Cherilus).

  6. Not only Anthony is really good, but is playing bad. This team is really good. Really. Some guys are elite, some guys are good... and yes, some guys are average at best. It's impossible to field a team of elite guys only: expiring contracts, injuries, retirements, misses on draft picks and free agents. *It happens. But right now whole team is playing not as a sum of the parts. This team is playing bad. And they need help... badly.

  7. I dont think it's that. If anything, I think pep's trying to be too aggressive.  To me, the Colt's and Lucks problems is really easy to see, they've forgotten how to play fundmental football and are always looking for that highlight reel play.

Exactly. Hi-lo read, in-out read, middle of the field open, middle of the field closed, off-coverage...

  8. – The Colts have learned some lessons from the Peyton Manning era; one of those is the value of a quality backup quarterback, as Matt Hasselbeck (+4.2) turned in his best game since the Seahawks’ wildcard victory over the Saints after the 2010 season. Pressured only four times (thanks in no small part to an average release time of 2.12 seconds), Hasselbeck was on the money all over the field, not least on the Colts’ aggressive 43-yard completion down the left sideline to see out the win with less than two minutes to go.

    - What is going on with Andrew Luck (-2.5)? It’s now the fifth game this season that Luck has earned a negative passing grade. Much of the 19 pressured dropbacks Luck saw came from him holding the ball too long. His 2.92 second average time to attempt was the highest in the NFL yesterday. Luck made bad decisions downfield, tried to force the ball into tight windows and plain missed throws. He’d always been able to offset mistakes with beautiful throws in the past, but those seem to be getting fewer and far between.

Your Wrs do not make their cuts at 3 seconds. Your OLs do not pass block for 3 seconds. You can replace your GM, HC, OC, WRs, TEs, OLs... or you can find someone to tutor your QB.

  9. Grigson.  He can't build a team.  Where is the O-line?  We don't draft any good tackles or guards or centers.  Dorsett instead of O-line.  Really?  Werner instead of O-line.  Really?  Pagano's on the hot seat instead of Grigson,  Really?  Don't wait for the end of the season, sack him now.

We don't draft any good tackles or guards or centers? Not true.

    – After a solid rookie season, left guard Jack Mewhort (+3.3) has turned into the greatest success of this young season for the Colts after they called time on the experiment to play him at right tackle. Since Mewhort was moved back to guard in Week 3, only three guards (Marshal Yanda, Joel Bitonio, and Evan Mathis) have bettered Mewhort’s +9.8 overall grade, and none have bettered his +8.6 run block grade that he added to with his fourth straight grade of +1.0 or better last night.

Dorsett instead of O-line? Really. Imagine Hilton is injured now, not Dorsett, and there is no Dorsett. Whalen is a starter. Oops.

  10. In game day thread I told Luck was holding the football for 5 seconds, forcing OL to hold the defenders. Well, it wasn't far off...

It's Grigson's fault? What OL can pass block for 3 seconds for every dropback without single holding penalty?
