  1. Regardless of our wins, I'm still upset & frustrated with our terrible play at the start of games. You can't win Superbowls with our formula. Brady, Manning & even the Chiefs won't let us bring back 21 point deficits

Lets make the playoffs before thinking about Super Bowls.. We're nowhere near a Super Bowl winning team the way w've been playing lately

  2. Clinton-dix won't fall to the late second round. Granted, I haven't got an idea of what teams could potentially be in the market for an FS in the draft, but even in the middle of the second, there would be a few GM's thinking "We can't miss this guy".x

If - Big IF - he's there when we pick in the second round, I wouldn't mind Grigson pulling the trigger on him, even if there are other areas of the team that we need to adress.

Bethea stays for a few years, and Clinton-dix is picked in the first round.

  3. Can we really look forward to the draft with so few picks?

It's not the number of picks that matter, but what you make of them.

    2010:

    1st round - Jerry Hughes

    2nd round - Pat Angerer

    3rd round - Kevin Thomas

    4th round - James McGlendon

    5th round - Brody Eldridge

    7th round - Kavell Conner

    7th round - Ray Fisher

    7th round - Riccardo Matthews

    2011:

    1st round - Anthony Castonzo

    2nd round - Ben Ijalana

    3rd round - Drake Nevis

    4th round - Delone Carter

    6th round - Chris Rucker

    2012:

    1st round - Andrew Luck

    2nd round - Coby Fleener

    3rd round - Dwayne Allen

    3rd round - T.Y. Hilton

    5th round - Josh Chapman

    5th round - Vick Ballard

    6th round - LaVon Brazil

    7th round - Justin Anderson

    7th round - Tim Fugger

    7th round - Chandler Harnish

    2013:

    1st round - Bjoern Werner

    3rd round - Hugh Thornton

    4th round - Khaled Holmes

    5th round - Montori Hughes

    6th round - John Boyett

    7th round - Kerwynn Williams

    7th round - Justice Cunningham

Quite a number of those picks didn't really make it for one reason or another.

And lets not even begin to mention the player we missed, but could have had.

  4. Asamoah would be great, as would Mack.

For me, the draft could be BPA after the third round. Heck, even the 2nd and 3rd could become BPA, depending on FA and if there's a run on QB's in the first round. I could see one or two of the top Guard prospects falling to the late second round, perhaps even the third, and if we haven't made some FA signings there, who knows..

That said, Beasley/Montgomery would be nice picks, but isn't Beasley a DE? I like Skov as well at ILB.

Have to say that I would love to have McCullers.. I know he'll be long gone when we pick, but he's a freak.

  5. In the world you and Dustin propose....   any rookie not starting their first year is not going to pan out.

I don't think that's the case in the NFL.    Not every rookie is ready to go in their first year.

I don't think Grigson is ready to write-off Holmes just yet....

That said,  I wouldn't be surprised to see Grigson go after a top quality interior lineman this off-season.   Our O-line is getting worse, not better.    Something has to be done this off-season.

That's not what I'm saying at all.

Thornton has been bad and doesn't look up to the task. I'm not impressed.

Our O-line is terrible, that's obvious to everyone, including Grigson. That HAS to be dealt with, and that starts at Center.

Satele is not getting the job done, and if Holmes isn't playing now (know he was on the injury list before the last game), Holmes probably isn't better,.

Getting someone in there, like Mack, that has proven himself in the NFL makes a lot of sense if you want to improve the O-line instantly.

  6. I believe Grigson thinks he's already done that.

The player's name is Khalid Holmes.    Drafted in the 4th round last year.

Whether that pans out or not is another story....   but I think he's at the top of Grigson's plan.....

Well, you gotta wonder... Considering how bad Satele has played, he still starts every game and Holmes isn't on the field.

If the coaching staff thought he was the answer, I'm sure he would have been playing by now. For the coaches to still have faith in Satele, Holmes can't be showing much in practice.

If he pans out - Great. But very much like Thornton, I seriously doubt that he's the solution.

  7. Well "It's all good" seems a little much, considering the last couple of games.

We won against the Texans, but that doesn't mean that the problems we had in that game is of no concern. In that game our D blew chunks in the first half - Today it was in both halfs. They gave up 38 points!

Our O-line is probably the worst in the league right now. That's a cause for concern, both with regards to protecting Luck and running the ball.

Outside of T.Y. Hilton, our WR's are not exactly Grade A.

Our secondary have done reasonably well this season, but the last couple games.... Not so much.

  8. It's not only about losing today. Or the way it happened. We didn't do much better last week against the Texans, even if we won that game. That win was fortunate, and more or less down to Luck &T.Y. and a missed field goal.

Our O-line is a mess. Absolutely horrible. If there isn't significant improvement in the way they play, we're going to mess up the rest of the season. If anyone still think that there's no need to look at Guards in the next draft and FA, I encourage them to watch the tape of the last couple of games. That it wrecks havoc on our running game, and causes Luck to get hit way to often is a major problem.

But even if I could ramble on about how bad our O-line is, they can't take all the heat today. Our defense gave up 38 points - 38!

So Mathis had another couple of sacks - But we still gave away a ton of big plays.

That we don't have a group of WR's that's good enough has to be obvious for everyone. T.Y. will make some big plays for sure, and every team we play know that he's more or less all they have to focus on. DHB, Whalen, Brazil and Reed? Not exactly a grade A group of WR's.

I'm starting to think we've been punching above our weight, and that our record doesn't reflect how good a team we have.
