  1. Someone else mentioned that the CB talent pool was quite deep, in next years draft. So it's not unlikely that we could snap up a very solid CB prospect in the second round. Amerson is, as I've mentioned earlier, an elite prospect, but so is Woods.

Austin Collie will be a free agent next year and Reggie isn't getting any younger or faster.. The thought of getting Woods and Luck on the same team does seem quite appealing..

However lot's of thins could happen before the 2013 draft, and who knows where in the first round we'll be picking.

  2. Freeney and Mathis. They're both at new positions, and are vital to our defense.

    Castonzo needs to show improvement.

Ijalana needs to impress this year, and has increased competition.

    Donald Brown... obviously.

Luck needs to prove he's ready for the NFL and the step up in competition.

  3. I seriously doubt that anyone will give up a first round pick for Jenkins, least of all Grigson.

After all, it's not like Jenkins, even if he's a clear improvement, will improve the team by leaps and bounds.

A first round pick, probably an early first round pick, would be worth a lot more than a player like Jenkins. A second round pick wouldn't be well spent either on him. In my opinion.

  4. I really dont get why thier sill trying to do this because the Cowboys have said reptedly thier not going to give him up for anything.

Maybe because they're not convinced that the Cowboys want to keep a player that wants out, despite what they have said to the media, and don't want to lose him as a FA in year.

The Cowboys would obviously want to get the best deal possible, and might have an interest in letting a potential deal go down to the wire, to put more stress on the interested teams and drive up the price of the deal.

  5. I just copied the list from another site, and removed Cassius Vaughn.

Maybe they, the FA's, will be resigned, maybe other teams will sign them and who knows if Grigson has one of them in his sights? Maybe we'll trade for someone who's not on the list? We could also be so lucky that the CB's on our current roster all have great seasons and play remarkably well. One could always hope...

Fact is that we don't know all the variables at this point, so there's really no way we could make any informed guess with regards to what the Colts might be going for @ the draft next year.

I agree fully that Amerson is an elite prospect, and could be a potential #1 pick for us. I'm sure there are similar thoughts from fans from different NFL teams as well. But it's way to early to pencil Amerson, or anyone else, in as the guy we just gotta have.

I'm all for discussing potential targets and rating targets against each other, but we should all realize that what the team "needs" today, it might not "need" a year from now.

  6. From what I've been able to look up on the web, all these CB's (see list) will be free agents in 2013. So maybe we'll swoop in for one or more of these guys, and go another direction in the 2013 draft.

    Chris Owens – ATL

    Domonique Foxworth – BAL

    Leodis McKelvin – BUF

    Darius Butler – CAR

    Captain Munnerlyn – CAR

    D.J. Moore – CHI

    Sheldon Brown – CLE

    Michael Jenkins – DAL

    Danny McCray – DAL ®

    Aaron Berry – DET ®

    Alphonso Smith – DET

    Sam Shields – GB ®

    Brice McCain – HOU

    David Caldwell – IND ®

    Jerraud Powers – IND

    Derek Cox – JAC

    Yeremiah Bell – MIA

    Sean Smith – MIA

    Asher Allen – MIN

    Josh Barrett – NE

    Jabari Greer – NO

    Brian Witherspoon – NYG

    Brandon Hughes – PHI

    Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – PHI

    Bryant McFadden – PIT

    Quentin Jammer – SD

    Antoine Cason – SD

    Shawntae Spencer – SF

    Ronald Bartell – STL

    Bradley Fletcher – STL

    Aqib Talib – TB

    E.J. Biggers – TB

    Jason McCourty – TEN

    Ryan Mouton – TEN

    Kevin Barnes – WAS

There's clearly a couple of very capable guys on the list, so even if Amerson IS an interesting prospect, and IF he doesn't get injured AND plays at the same high level as last season, we might not have the same need for a CB when it's time for the 2013 draft as we do now. Maybe Grigson et al feels that there's another player who we would be better of for picking, instead of the highest rated CB available.

That said, I wouldn't mind adding Amerson to our roster, but he's not the only potential first rounder that I would love to add to the Colts roster next year.

  7. I think that Grigson will be more active in FA than Polian ever was.

I'm not so sure that we'll be going all defense in next years draft. It will depend on how things work out in FA, and we also have some issues with regards to players contracts expiring, and key offensive players like Reggie Wayne aging, and some concerns about Austin Collie and concusions. Other players could be seriously injured during the season, and that might change our priorities as well.

So who knows what our main focus will be in the draft next year. Maybe we will sort out the CB situation through FA's, maybe we won't. It's all pure speculation with way to many unknown factors at this point.

  8. I could see us drafting the best OLB on the board with our first pick. It all hangs on Freeney.

Te'o would, in my opinion, be a solid improvement of our D-line. That Angerer and Connell "haven't done anything to lose their position", is irrelevant if there's a player available that's better and that Grigson et al. thinks could be a dominant player for years to come. Quality in depth is important as well.

But this is all pure speculation at this point. Te'o, Amerson or any of the other top-rated draft prospects at this point, could all have ACL, or other serious, injuries during the next year, as could any of the players on our roster, and other players could emerge.

I would love Te'o. I would love Amerson. I would love Star Lotulelei and there are lot's of other potential draft targets that I would love to see join the Colts. My personal favorite at this point would be Te'o, but I feel that we're in good hands with Grigson and that he and his team will make good use of our first round pick next year, no matter who they pick @ #1.

Quality at the draft, can also be found outside the first round at most positions. We should all recognize that at this point.

  9. Yes,by all means, lets watch the waiver wire. That is the way to build championship teams by taking other teams rejects.

That's a little simple.. You can't have a team made up of superstars and first round draft picks. A team might have to many players in one particular position, and another team can have a need in that position due to having needed to draft at other positions or because of injuries or players not living up to expectations.

A linebacker that isn't a starter for the Ravens defense, can very well be a very capable linebacker and do a great job for another team as a starter.

Because a player didn't become a starter for Team A, doesn't mean that he can't improve Team B.

I'm not sure that Jenkins is the perfect guy for us, but he sure would be a step up compared to our current CB line up.

  10. Vaughn clearly isn't a pro bowl player, but neither is Gronkowski. Considering what we had at CB, there's clearly lots of upside in this deal. It's probably not a solution for the long term future, and it won't make us SB contenders in any way imagineable, but I think that it's an improvement of the roster for the coming season, and that's what counts.

  11. 15 reps @ 180 lbs. is more than respectable. However 180 lbs. seems a little to small for my taste, but perhaps he'll be able to put on some muscle and still keep his speed. It's not unheard of that you can improve size with focused weighttraining and keep your speed. I'm sure the trainers is very much aware of what needs to be done physically.

  12. well we didnt go best player available based on grades so the best player available theory some people thought we went for is out, we didnt go for a Corner I think because we have so many and Pagano wants to see how well they do in this new system. was Coby Fleener truthfully the best player available where we picked him? no their was 3 guys who had a better grades then him available when we picked and two others with identical grades Fleener-Tight End had 86.5 draft grade Andre Branch-Linebacker 86.5 Lavonte David-Linebacker 86.5 Upshaw-Linebacker 88.0 Cordy Glenn-Tackle/Guard 88.0 Jonathan Marin-Tackle 87.0 all had better grades so based on grades we didnt go best player available did we reach? based on grades yes, Hilton 74.5 was a huge reach Chris Givens- 80 Joe Adams-78.2 Nick Toon-77.0 Keshawn Martin-76.0 were all available still but we chose Hilton its fair to say we did'nt go for the best player available after our first pick but it is certainly debatable that we went best player available based on needs

Your argument is fallacious. The grades there are not universal in any way. It's based on what the writers at NFL.com think and feel, not how Grigson et al. grades the players.

Besides that, going for BPA doesn't mean that player position is not part of the decision. You could have three players that you rate the same, or roughly the same, RB, DE & WR for example, but if the organisation believes there's a bigger need for a DE, than a RB or a WR, they'll pick the DE, even if they grade the players the same, or even marginally below the two other players.

  13. Tebow wins. He also ignites passion in his teammates, and like another poster said, he has the same devotion that Manning has, except he can run. Imagine him having a true offseason to workout and get better as a starter that throws passes...He'll be the next big thing, along with Newton, Griffin, and Locker.

There's as much chance of Tebow becoming "The next big thing", as there is for me becoming president of the United States of America.

Spolier alert - I'm not an american citizen

  14. If Zbikowski/Lefeged don't cut it at the other Safety position I also wouldn't mind bringing in Jairus Byrd. That guy gets picks when offenses throw his way.

Zbikowski will cut it - I have NO doubt about that

Jake Long would be too expensive

Let's hope not. He would be a perfect addition to our O-line

  15. Actually I think Grigson nailed it on the first five picks.

    - Luck was a no-brainer. He could be the best thing that has happened to us since #18.

    - Fleener & Allen were both great picks as 2nd and 3rd round picks and gives Luck some good weapons. I'm sure Arians is very pleased.

    - T.Y. Hilton was a steal as our 4th pick and brings an edge on special teams, while learning the ropes this season. Will surprise a lot of people with his acceleration.

    - Chapman is a beast and has HUGE value as a 5th pick. Massive upside with little risk. So he has had some problems with the knee, but the doctors have given him the green light. He could be a starter this season. Can't ask for a lot more from a fifht round pick.
