  1. If we could win 2 games with the team that we put out on the field last year, led by a man who was way over his head when he coached at f'ing Wake Forest in the ACC, then it stands to reason we can win 5-6 games this year.

I mean, do you people realize that we nearly beat Pittsburgh in week 3, and the following players actually started that game for us: Kerry Collins, Jeff Linkenbach, Eric Foster, Jacob Lacey, David Caldwell. Think about that for a minute. And in addition to those 5 stiffs, the following players actually garnered significant playing time for the Colts last year: Joe Lefeged, Quinn Ojinnaka, Curtis Painter, Daniel Muir, Mike Tepper, Anthony Hill, Dan Orlovsky, Jerome Felton, Terrance Johnson.

So, I don't know what any this talk is based on.....we will be immensely more talented this year than we were last year. There will be no comparison.

Yeah well, virtually the same team got smacked around by the Saints and ended up with a 2-14 season.

Yes, we'll be better than last year, with a new top QB and some pretty good deals made in free agency, but the playoffs still seems highly unlikely.

We'll probably win 6-8 games this season, no matter who we draft

  2. We paid the price for building everything around one of the best QBs ever. Ray Lewis had a valid point. Our defense hasn't been great for many years because the focus was always on outscoring the opposition through offense.

Once #18 wasn't there to make the big plays, and we had to rely on a subpar QB like Painter, everything went down the drain fast.

It seems unlikely that we can rebuild with a draft, despite getting a new stud QB. There are just to many holes in the roster and a lot of the top players on the roster is nearing retirement. Patience is a virtue, and we're going to need it.

Drafting players smarter than the previous GM did will be the key to the future. Don't pick players this year, just because they are the best in this years draft at available at a position of need. Get the best player for the future.

I can't wait to see how Pagano does things. Loved what he did with the Ravens defense, imagine if Peyton had that kind of defense while in Indy? I also quite like some of the deals we've done in free agency this year. Despite everything, I still think we'll have a losing season this year, and a high first round draft pick next year as well, but I'm sure that within a couple of seasons we'll be back in the playoffs.

  3. I don't believe that there's a clearcut future #1 WR available when we pick at #34. I would go for BPA in the second rund, with an eye for what we need for the future, not specifically what we might need right here and now this season.

Forget about Cordy Glenn or Chandler Jones falling to us at 34 - That's never going to happen.. Even Stephen Hill looks like a stretch at 34.

I would pick someone like Quick in round 3, to add depth to the WR roster. He would benefit greatly from playing and working out with Reggie and could be a solid WR in the future.

Actually, I think that our second round pick is the most interesting this season, as everyone has known for a loooong time that Luck would be the #1 draft pick this year.

  4. Well since the team is in a rebuilding phase, and won't get anywhere near the playoffs next season anyway, going for PBA makes the most sense to me. We should be looking at least 2-3 season in to the future, not looking at what we "need" this coming season.

If the best possible option (aka biggest Pro Bowl potential) isn't a CB, TE or WR, so what? Let's get the players who can make the Colts a great team in a few years, not the player who covers a need this season.

  5. Mathis/Freeney was truly amazing last night. The defense kept us in the game until the very end and It's one of the best defensive displays, against a top team, that I've seen the Colts give for a long time, despite that first TD.

However it was painful to watch our defense put up such a great performance, making the Steelers work hard for every inch, and then when we got the football..... Nothing happened and horrible decision after horrible decision was made, like no one even trying to pick Polamalu several times, trying to run the ball straight at James Harrison several times, attempting to lob the ball to Dallas Clark, when he was covered by Polamalu in the end zone etc.

It's frustrating to see the defense do well, and having to rely on subpar QB's like Painter/Collins when we're used to having a true all-time great like Manning. It's like being used to driving a Ferrari, and then having to switch to a 79 Ford Pinto
