  1. I believe I was the first to mention Bill Brooks and I see lots of others have named him, too.

He's the only WR in the Colts Ring of Honor not named Harrison or Wayne, so that pretty much rests the case.  In fact, he was the first Colts player on the Ring of Honor after Robert Irsay was the first person to get that honor in 1996.  Brooks' name went up on the Ring in 1998.

With the Colts from 1986 - 1992, Brooks had 411 catches for 5,818 yards and 28 touchdowns.

  2. We can learn that you don't change a classic looking uniform just because other teams are doing it.  Those unis with the white helmet and Pat the Patriot on the sides were awesome, then they changed to the crappy USFL look, which still looks crappy.

Don't mess with a great thing!

  3. This is no different than comparing Babe Ruth with Hank Aaron, or whatever other players are in the greatest of all time debate.  Different eras, different circumstances, different equipment, different rules.

It really doesn't matter in the long run.  Let's appreciate the accomplishments of each.

Why doesn't Terry Bradshaw's name ever come up?  He won 4 Super Bowls, but seems only Joe Montana gets the recognition for winning 4.

Anyway, Brady is AMONG the greatest without a doubt.

  4. So much is going to happen between now and the draft, there are several possibilities.  Mock Drafts are there to keep us entertained between now and then...and it gives the media guys something to do, too.

I am confident that when we are on the clock, that Ballard and his staff will be fully prepared to pick a guy that's available, on our board and most likely the BPA.  You don't pass on a major talent in one position just to fill a need with a guy who may be the 10th best at his position.

Winning teams have depth at all positions, as much as possible.  You need to have a roster than can handle some injuries with back-up players who can step up.

We know Ballard knows what he's doing.  I realize it's fun to speculate, predict and guess; and that's what mock drafts provide for us this time of year.

If he drafts a WR, then I won't be mad, because I know it's because he's the right player at the right time.

  5. Our offense features a lot of weapons and looks.  The tight ends are VERY involved, there are a lot of passes to the RBs, too.  I feel like Ballard will draft BPA and with the depth of defense in this draft, chances are that will be a DL, either interior or an edge rusher.  We can get a WR later...they don't need to be a #1 WR, just someone who can catch the ball consistently and take some pressure off T.Y.

Edelman is not a #1 WR, but he wreaks havoc on defenses because he CATCHES the ball.

  6. Wow, very good question and some very good responses.  I can't pinpoint a moment, so I'm going to cheat a little and say watching our OL protect our franchise.

Also enjoyed watching the Maniac and our defense improve.

Okay, I just thought of my favorite...the day Frank Reich was named Head Coach...I don't think that "other guy" would have had this team do what it did under Reich.

  7. This was obviously a serious miss by the ref, and affected the outcome of the game.  I was not watching at the time, but understand that if it had been called, the Saints would have had a 1st down and the ability to run down the clock on kick a FG to win it.

However, the refs are part of the game and are human.  How many games are lost by a dropped pass, an interception or fumble?  Players also make huge mistakes that change the outcome of a game...they are human, too and make mistakes.

Not defending the "non-call" and it was magnified by the fact that this was the NFC Championship game.  But, the Saints also blew a lead, failed to score touchdowns on their first two possessions and settled for field goals.

It's a 60 minute game and there are lots of things that determine the outcome.

  8. 5 minutes ago, DougDew said:

I think runs on positions tend to happen though.  Ballard said it happened last year with G.  He implied that he took Smith at 37 because he didn't think Smith would still be there at 49.  49 was probably a little closer to his value according to most mock's at the time.

How about that run on Williams's near the top?  I guess the Giants couldn't find another guy named Williams haha
