As much as I admire Frank, I find this (and others of this ilk) all a bit hokey. But we are in great shape and I really like where we are headed. Just not a fan of the 1-0 mantra etc. I personally don't think we need to brand 'doing your job' with something so tacky and contrived.

But if it works for the organisation, who am I to judge.

At least it worked better than Build The Monster, but I see your point.  Young guys respond to stuff like this...they had it in college and most of them have only been away from college for 1-3 years, I'm guessing.

Not to mention it's PR for the organization and they sell a few shirts.

  2. I agree with you...they can have both.  I believe players with character, but not as much talent, are better overall.  That character will drive them to become better players.  Talented players who don't have character tend not to last as long.  As you mentioned, when the going gets tough, they can "check out" and never regain the talent edge they had.

There are lots of talented players out there who had careers cut short, because they had character issues, etc.

  3. Will probably watch it...right now, I like 3 of the 4 teams who may be playing in the SB.  Would enjoy seeing the Saints, Rams or Chiefs win it all.

Would be fun to see either the Chiefs-Rams or Chiefs-Saints...lots of scoring!

No matter who plays, I will once again NOT watch the halftime stuff...too long and too irritating.

Hey, I did not listen to the presser but I can't believe you are buying into this "climb the mountain" nonsense without telling me what actually was said. #Sarcasm #Kidding :)

Reich said he even watched shows and documentaries about mountain climbing and the challenges those guys face.  I thought that was interesting.

what I really loved hearing was how everyone was ready eyed and disappointed. You can't buy that learning lesson. That feeling is what pushes you to the next level. To make you want to strive to be the best. You don't learn from success. You learn from the heartache and disappointment.

Yes, his points about the struggle and how the struggle gets you to where you want to be.

Ballard's investment in strength and conditioning was worth it (he mentions it by thanking Irsay for willing to do the extra investment), and if I am not mistaken, this has been one of the better years of health we have enjoyed as a Colts team (knock on wood) in recent years!!!

I believe we really did improve in that area...yes, we had injuries, but no more than most other teams.  Football players get hurt and every team has to deal with injuries.

  7. I believe he specifically addressed needs for next season with comments that have already been posted here.

He's been a part of 2 of the 3 teams to start 1-5 and make the playoffs and knows how hard that is to do.

I think he's laid the foundation and will not work on building it up from here.

  8. So, we lost to the team that Ballard had a hand in building.  Ballard is building our team, so I expect in a year or two, we'll be hosting playoff games as the #1 seed.

KC is amazing on offense and the defensive ranks aren't a true reflection of their talent.  Lots of opponents racked up yards because they had to pass the ball due to being so far behind.

Did you hear/see that KC had scored on their opening drive in ALL 16 games this year?  Or, maybe I misheard that during the telecast.  If I'm wrong, please correct me.

  9. I feel like AV wants what is best for the team.  Bring in a young kicker and let them battle it out in training camp.  If the youngster is better, I'm guessing AV will recognize that and retire.  In the meantime, that young kicker will have been able to spend time in camp learning from the master.

  10. Thanks to the OP for a great breakdown.

If luck had connected on a few of those passes, or on some of the ones batted down, then it may have been a different game or outcome.

We also whiffed on some opportunities to get back into the game.

Several reasons why we lost, but I think the Chiefs just simply played better and their defense was outstanding.

Nothing to be ashamed of...we build on this experience and come back with a fury in 2019.

Going to be another exciting off season!

  11. I think we got outplayed on Saturday.  We play that game again and the outcome could very well be different.  We missed on several opportunities, and given those again, we could very well capitalize and come back to win.

Disappointing, but a great experience for this young team.   They will remember the feeling they had after the game and not want a repeat.
