Carlos Santana does rock indeed JPPT & his wife Cindy Blackman is 1 of the best drummers on this planet too. She's incredible with sticks in her hands. She truly is.
I wonder what the odds are on 2 iconic musicians hooking up & walking down the aisle? It must be extremely rare. They seem like down to earth cool everyday folks too. When they tied the knot, I smiled. No, I wasn't there BTW. I wish. LOL!

Starting up with music trivia and others for the month of March.
Guess these lyrics.
The Eastern World is exploding
Violence flaring bullets loading
You're old enough to kill but not for voting
You don't believe in war, but what that gun's is toting
It is a 1965 song!

Anybody going to watch the Oscars on Sunday? Really hope it is all about entertainment and nothing more or less than that.
-
I will check out who won though when it's over. I still can't believe Johnny Depp did not get nominated a year ago for Black Mass. I mean what the hell? Thats when I lost interest. I often see some film or performance and it gets snubbed.
I know this year they will probably give most of the awards to "Manchester by the Sea" anyway.

Hey there Jules,
No worries. I know the Oscars is a long ceremony that usually runs close to 4 hours on average. I don't think Hollywood was ready to embrace a MOB flick this yr, but I agree with you Johnny Depp gave a solid performance in "Black Mass."
I'm still miffed that "Captain Fantastic" walked away with no golden statues at all. Actor Viggo Mortensen gave a tremendous performance in that flick & he definitely got shafted by the Academy this February IMO. I still think of him as Strider from "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy, but I digress.
Nice chatting with you like always.

If I want to watch award shows, I will do so for entertainment purposes. Really will never watch an awards show as long as I live. Like the Oscars, will leave it at that!

I can understand why some people prefer that say the Golden Globes or the Oscars remains neutral with no controversial about elected officials & just bask in the glow of favorite motion pictures.
However, as a professionally trained historian myself, popular figures of the time can play a vital role in moving the needle of specific issues given their platform & spotlight on such an enormous scale. Robert Redford has always been a strong advocate for the environment. Meryl Streep most recently voiced her frustrations over the current commander-in-chief mocking a disabled reporter saying what needed to be said IMO.
Here's my point: If those under the largest limelight don't speak up for humanity & human decency then who will? To quote from the movie 'Spiderman': "With great power, comes great responsibility."
Can some celebrities use their influence unwisely? Sure. Case in point: The Kardashians. As with anything, moderation is the key or picking your battles correctly. Knowing when to let stuff slide & when to make the necessary stand.

FOOTBALL! Actually daughters had their friends for dinner last night - 15 including me, wifey and kids of their fiends. Today recovery and football. Then prep for tonight's dinner with two daughter's and their boy friends. Tomorrow night is with neighbor and her cookout. I guess I need to set my scale back 15 pounds!

Glad we have 2 games tomorrow and they should be great ones in the Ravens at Steelers and Broncos at Chiefs. Reminds me of Thanksgiving. I am off tomorrow and Monday. Merry Christmas everyone.
