Cool video montages there JPPT.

I like seeing Aretha as a younger woman because most of us are accustom to seeing her in her later yrs as opposed to an up & coming Motown star. Nice.

Sidenote: I liked singer Smokey Robinson's final farewell to Miss Franklin too. Smokey still has a beautiful voice even now & he's one hades of a storyteller too. That guy knows how to work a room & put you in a palm of his hand.

  2. There is a saying bad things happen in twos, deaths come in three's.

    1. Aretha Franklin

    2. Senator John McCain

    3. Neil Simon

    Really shocking there!

I watched a little bit of both funerals on TV. Aretha & McCain's I mean.

Aretha's grandchildren were quite eloquent & thoughtful. I like Al Sharpton's remarks as well.

Man, I miss President Obama. That guy has a way with words that just uplifts you, makes you smile, & his eulogies are always worth listening to.

It's too bad that Franklin & McCain are gone now. I had tremendous respect for both of them.

You worried me for a second there JPPT. Wait, the other half of Garfunkel died? Ah man. Oops, wrong dude. My bad. LOL!

I never watched Peter Jennings much, but I know Dan Rather well. I saw all his Vietnam coverage in the field stuff. Mike Wallace was really good too. I remember Tom Brokaw as well. But Tom wasn't half as good as Dan & Mike were. Not even close.

I took a military history course in graduate school & we covered journalism in wartime. I have so much respect for Cronkite, Wallace, & Rather. Those guys were through man & they refuse to be intimidated by any administration in power. They supplied the public with tangible information with no filter. And they were just as tenacious in their youth as they evolved into elder media icons too.
