  1. Peyton manning jerseys have dropped and colts tickets are going for cheap and in some cases free, if caldwell is back i can guarantee you there will be no sold out stadium... so yea they will lose money...

What cheap? I bought two tics for this sunday night's game in teh nose bleed and cost me $25 per ticket. If you want to sit down low you are going to pay big bucks. There is something like a 7000+ waiting list for ST, trust me, the stadium will be sold out again next season. Now if the Colts go say 3-4 seasons of losing football maybe, but 1...not a chance especially if Peyton comes back.

  2. Proof???

I don't thinkYou need proof that these guys are multi-millionaires???

You need proof that these guys have been playing football their whole life???

Guessing that changes & adjustments aren't being made???

Coyer himself said he wanted to game plan & call more aggressive plays, but was told to maintain the soft cover-2

I think the coaching staff & F.O. are tanking the season, not the players.

lets go with your assumption...so what if they are tanking....what is the harm?

  3. Here is some sound information. This team went 10-6 last year. They are probably going to go 0-16 this year. The Colts have not shown any improvement throughout the course of the season. Why do we even pay a head coach if he has nothing to do with the win-loss record?

Well lets see, Denver has won like 6 games in a row, but not because they changed thier offense to fit Teabow as their offense is one of the worse in teh NFL, but because their defense started to play, so should John Fox be fired?

  4. If i were you i wouldnt be paying attention to what polian says, right now there seems to be some friction in the colts FO and what BP has to say i would take with alot of salt.. irsay wasnt born yesterday even if the colts win a game with caldwell and draft luck while still keeping manning they are gonna most likely lose money and answer to alot of angry fans.

How would they lose money? they have a sold out stadium, a waiting list, a good merchandise sale and a great stadium deal with the city. The Colts are no where near losing money. Fans anger will be gone if Peyton returns next season and the colts go 10-6 or 11-5 and make the playoffs...

  5. Fans job is also to pay money so the FO, coaches and players get paid. How about Irsay have a private stadium and run the show with zero fans. Lets see how he generates money.

Look i am not saying he need to listen to everything fans have to say but its common sense this year how the FO and coaching staff looks like.

What % of fan money do you think is the colts budget? A good owner will not just look at 1 season. He will look at the overall franchise over say maybe a 4-6 year period and see what trends happened, injuries and such. Owners that make snap decisions based off of 1 season, no bad how bad it is usually are those owners with poor overall records as a franchise.

  6. If I was a betting man, this is what I would lay my money on.

Could be a done deal as far as we know... and that would not surprise me one bit. You can also throw Fisher's son, Brandon, into this mix. He will undoubtedly be on the staff if this goes down.

    http://www.prideofde...-coaching-staff

    1. The Colts front office won't make any decissions till after teh final game

    2. The ego's involved are just to big, no shot Polian hires someone like Fisher.

  7. What???

    ridiculous

These are multi-millionaires, who've been involved with football their whole lives...

They could & should have switched things up ALONG time ago (if they wanted to actually win)...

They are purposefully tanking the season...

What does money have to do with it? Yes they have been involved in football their whole life, but that does not mean that they can just change how they approach their position. I think fans watch a game and think it looks so simple why can't they just do this or that, well you can't, this is a complicated game.

  8. Ramblin made a lot of good points about what we could do. Bootlegs and RB/WR screens are two main things that I've been saying for a while. We are actually running the ball better this year than we have for a number of years and that is without the threat of a passing game. Rehashing what we need to do on D is sort of pointless since I know you've been involved in those conversation elsewhere on this site. Point is, if you were overdrawing your bank account because you were spending too much money each month on things you didn't need, wouldn't you change your spending habits? If you were tired because you were choosing to stay up until 2 and had to get up at 6, wouldn't you start going to be earlier? If you have one of the worst (if not the worst) statistical offenses in the NFL because you are choosing not to change how you run it even though you lost your best player, wouldn't you try to do something different so that you can improve?

It's easy for the fans to sit back and say hey do this, or stop doing that, or try this. We have no knowledge on what the abilities are of the players we presently have on the roster. Maybe switching to a different approach on defense with these guys just isn't feesable and would only make things worse. Change is not easy on simple things, maybe if the team had an offseason to do it then maybe they could, but I think this idea that we can change things up just like that is a bit much given we don't have full access.

  9. You have the creativity of a non-creative person... ;)

I could make several changes to our offense:

    1. We could run more playaction bootleg passes, very similar to the Texans, if we are running the ball effectively which we have done pretty well this year.

    2. We could throw some more screen passes to the runningbacks and we need to use the WR bubble screen more.

    3. We need to throw the ball down the field. Stretch the defense. The opposing teams defenses know we are going to throw short, quick passes so they play aggessively. We simply need to throw more intermediate to deep passes. If we don't have good pass protection to do that, then that's where the plaction and the playaction bootleg comes in handy.

    4. Run a couple of WR reverses a game.

    5. And for some fun, do a halfback pass from Joseph Addai to a TE or receiver, maybe even back to the quarterback. We did it a long time ago if I remember right and Addai played quarterback in high school I think. If you can't win a game by execution, then you have to make things happen. The players would love to do this, not to mention the fans.

Those are some good ideas, but can our offensive line do it? Our line is banged up and young and you asking alot of them to do things that are tough to do.

  10. Just a suggestion, but this little dig doesn't quite have the same bite when the people who are making the decisions are currently winless going into week 15.

It would literally be impossible to do worse than the current group of people is doing at this moment in time.

If there was a pattern of losing and bad decision making over say the past 4-6 years I would agree, but there isn't

  11. I think fans have plenty to say, after all, we are the ones at games buying the tickets, merchandise and so on. Cannot generate much money, if they stay home. Yeah, I'm glad Polian is talking out of his backside about how awesome our team and coach are. I guess us realistic fans are the ones who are out of touch. Anyway, go to Madden 12 and fire Caldwell there and develop Luck to put on your team and see what one can get for Manning.

Look at the reallllllly bad teams in the NFL, how are they doing? Fans still going, merchandise still selling. Colts have had 1 bad season, fans are not going to jump ship. So basically the fans have little impact.

  12. Why would a player who probably won't be here in 2 years factor in?

They need to get coaches as quick as possible in order to establish an identity. What is this team? Defensive? WCO? Ground and Pound? The sooner those people are picked, the sooner they can establish a 'base' and the sooner they can get ready to draft talent.

Its really going to stink when we don't have a coach until March, and we go into the draft without having any idea who to draft.

    1. Depending on if Peyton can play will determine how we approach the draft

    2. Depding on if Peyton can play will determine the coaching style needed

    3. Why the rush?

  13. dn, it's just NFL speak. And then it translates to the firing of Coyer...and then it translates to an even more vanilla defense (I didn't think it could get more vanilla, but Polian has found the way.) and then it leads to Caldwell's job being safe at 0-13 but hey, he's safe because we're not 0-16...yet.

There is no way BP is going to say to the press what the true status of the HC is, never happen. As for the defense, exactly what do you want our defense to do that they are not doing?

  14. Exactly what is the coach's job then? Isn't the coach's job to come up with a strategy to win football games based on the talent he has? My contention was that based on the talent he has, Caldwell has gotten less out of his players than any coach in the NFL. I'm not saying he should be judged as if he had the level of talent that Green Bay, New Orleans, or Pittsburgh has. I'm looking at the level of talent that the Colts have and saying that, if Caldwell was competent at his job, the Colts wouldn't be sitting at 0-13. I'm not expecting a playoff run without Manning. But I also wasn't expecting to go completely winless this season. He hasn't adapted, adjusted, or tweaked his strategy in any way. That is his job, isn't it?

If you are maintaining that his job is simply to stand on the sideline without any emotion and clap after a three and out or giving up a touchdown, then I would agree that he is exceptional at his job.

We don't know what the coaches have done. You are making claims with no sound information. The coaches could have tried to make changes and saw it didn't work, the players may not be able to do it. Exactly what kind of changes do you think they need to make?

  15. Sad. Just sad that Irsay is willing to accept this type of performance. Put down the ipad Irsay and act like an owner.

I think this continuing ripping on Jim Irsay is unfair. Since taking over he has done nothing but his best to put the best product on the field via whom he has running the show. Now because of 1 bad season he is a fool? People just need to stop, Mr. Irsay not only knows what he is doing, we should thank him every day for what we have here.

  16. the announcements by the Dolphins and Chiefs that both teams will be going in a new direction with a new head man, Indianapolis may be forced to act and do so quickly.

Jacksonville fired coach Jack Del Rio last month,

If the Colts are sincere about keeping Jim Caldwell, today's firings are a mute point. But if the Colts were planning a more wait-and-see approach, they might not have the luxury of time. Preeminent head coaches don't last long in the NFL as evidenced by the Dolphins and Chiefs decisions to make moves now to ensure they have the first crack at landing one of the three highly coveted candidates on the market in Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher and Jeff Fisher.

Of course there are a lot of good coaches out there, but these three guys are the biggest fish and Kansas City and the Dolphins are both hoping to make big splashes.

For Miami the front runner seems to be former Titans coach Jeff Fisher which is particularly bad news for the Colts.

Currently Fisher makes the most sense as Gruden has indicated he wants to stay on with ESPN as a broadcaster for Monday Night Football and Bill Cowher wants a better quarterback than Matt Moore and more institutional control than GM Jeff Ireland is likely willing to hand over.

Even were the Colts to stick with Caldwell , the Colts will at least be in the market for a defensive coordinator.

One such candidate would be Kirk Ferentz, a guy who has built strong defenses at Iowa and given the Colts track record with the Hawkeyes, knows Indianapolis well.

He too though is being courted by the Chiefs, another indication that the ripple effects may already be occurring.

    http://www.stampedeblue.com/2011/12/13/2632379/will-coaching-change...

There is zero chance that Bill Polian would even consider anyone that the Jags, Chiefs or Dolphins would consider. Should Bill decide that a new HC is needed he will do that in the offseason and take his time in reviewing people he wants. There is no need to rush this. We need to see how Peyton is because that can have a huge impact on who the new coach might be. So IF Caldwell isn't back, I don't see the Colts doing anything till after the SB and before the Draft.

  17. I would be cash money that the Packers WILL NOT pull their starters...at all

..and I can guarantee they wont pull anybody against the arch-rival Bears on Christmas Day.

I wonder 1f we'd have pulled our starters in game 15 of 2009 against New England or some big rival?

    they

I think Tony would have pulled them no matter whom we were playing if the division and no. 1 seed was wrapped up. Agree or disagree with him, Tony Dungy does not put any value in goning undefeated.

  18. We have ONE guy less than last year and you cant re-adjust your team and win one game?.

Lets just say its really bad talent in Caldwell's defense, Polian should go then.

Again not true, we are missing more then just Peyton. Please go back and review the Colts IR list and those players who have missed games due to injuries, I am sure you will see more then just 1 player.
