  1. As NO, GB and Pats are showing, it really doesn't matter what defense you have when you have an incredible offense, which is what the Colts game plan is when Manning was running the show. If Manning comes back and the offense is back to what it was, it won't matter what the defense does, we just out score people.

  2. This really doesn't mean anything but just some fun facts about Ryan Leaf and Andrew Luck.

1.) Ryan Leaf was 6'5" 235 coming out of college. Andrew Luck is 6'4" 235

2.) Ryan Leaf played his college ball in the Pac-10. Luck plays in the Pac-12

3.) Leaf won the offensive player of the year in the Pac-10 in 1997. Luck won this year's offensive player of the year in the Pac-12.

4.) Leaf was predicted by many to be a better pro prospect than Manning back in the 1998 draft. Luck is predicted by many to come in a take Manning's job next season.

The Colts organization made the correct decision back in 98'. What will they do in 12'?

From what I saw from Luck over the very few games I have watched Stanford, he's a great QB, no doubt, but is he an NFL QB. There is a big difference, besides whenever a player plays in any conference other than the SEC it is difficult to determine how good they are. I live in the heart of the SEC and when I watch these other conferences play, they just look like an upper high school level compared to the South Eastern Conference.

I don't remember, but I don't think Leaf was in college that long, very short college career with some great numbers and a great arm and a .2 cent brain. Wonder what Leaf scored on teh Wonderlick

  3. Anyone watch the Steelers game last night? After they discussed all of :edit: injuries over the years plus the ankle injury he sustained last night, i guess he should give it up and retire too. Dang injuries. Grr..

His career will be shortened due to all the injuries, the body just can't take a beating like that...

  4. Lucas Oil Stadium is the House that Manning Built, and it is the Los Angeles Colts at this point without him.

    1. There was nothing wrong with the Dome and I don't remember Peyton contributing 1 dime to the construction of the Can, that place is there on the backs of tax payers.

    2. There is zero proof to support that statement as LA has been unable to support a pro team and doesn't have an acceptable NFL stadium in place.

  5. Why do people keep emphasizing that Manning has had 3 neck surgeries? Emphasizing 3 surgeries makes it seem like the surgeries are diminishing him in some way or that his problem is a chronic issue. The first 2 surgeries were an attempt to try to stop the pain he was having and to try to keep him from having the major fusion surgery. In hindsight, he probably wishes he would have had the fusion surgery in the first place. He probably would have missed a season but he probably wouldn't have had the nerve issue. This is a career saving procedure that Manning had. It's like a pitcher having Tommy Johns surgery because the generally come back stronger than they were before. The bottom line is that the surgery itself is not the issue. He's concerned about the nerve regeneration so he can gain the strength back in his arm.

Because "any time" you have to have surgery it's not a good thing. The human body was not made to be cut open and operated on. Then add in the type of surgery and Peytons profession, the amount does come into play.

  6. Even if Luck is next Peyton Manning taking him is not a good idea. Drafting Luck means reviving idea of an elite QB carrying bad team (after his rookie contract or even earlier Luck will be looking for a Manning-type contract). We have to be a good football team which means a lot of changes. A lot of changes requires a lot of picks. And a QB who leads a team, not carries it. Manning will carry this team till the rebuilding process is over.

If we draft Luck he will get I believe like a 4 year deal. Should he spend the first and maybe second season sitting behind Peyton, there is little to no chance that come his second contract he would get anywhere NEAR Peyton money unless he comes in that 3rd or 4th season and is the GOAT from the start and I don't see that. He would get a bump in salary in that second contract but no where near Peyton money.

  7. For the love of God liberate the man to win some championships and cement his legacy.

Why continue to hold him hostage to this 0-16 hollow shell of a football team? He has carried it far enough.

Why do people think Peyton needs more championships to cement his legacy? How many SB titles does Dan Marino or Brett Farve have? Elway only has 2, Joe Namath only has 1.

Also there is no guarentee should Peyton go to another team that they would make it to a SB let alone win.

  8. Smitto, It's not a defense that wins championships, just as much as it's not just the quarterback that wins championships. It takes a great TEAM to win. You can say for example, that the Ravens recently have had great defenses and a decent quarterback, but no Super Bowl victories. Same goes for the Jets and last years Niners. It's just a cliche that "defense wins Super Bowls." The Saints won because they were an offensive power house. Also, the year that the Colts won, we were an offensive team and the defense finally started playing well, making us a more complete TEAM.

Were the Giants a "great" team when they beat NE? Or did they just play a great game and get lucky? What about the year the Colts won it, I don't think anyone would say that overall they were a great team. They got hot in the playoffs, had a few lucky breaks go their way and won it. Great teams don't always win the SB

  9. Exactly Smitto. Peyton is here to play games and win. Hes not going to spend some of his extra time to teach the guy whos going to take over for him. It just doesnt work out that way. And btw brett favre did NOTHING with aaron rodgers... So that "example" is out...

Luck doesn't need Peyont to "teach" him everyday, Luck will learn by watching, listening and just being around Peyton.

  10. I dont get that type of thinking at all, look at curtis painter he's been learning from peyton for more than 2 seasons and they are really good friends and look how he played... ppl are really over estimating the whole "student QB" thing, it doesnt work like that at all.. especially with peyton who likes things his way on offense and has no time to tutor ppl while trying to win games.

If you can't play even the greatest of all time can teach you.

  11. That is not true, the term "defense wins championships" is the truest term you can ever think of when it comes to football.... you should take a look at the colts 06 playoff season and you will see how true that is.... almost doesnt count in football but the colts could have won that pats game if they had a defense there's no doubt about it... you can have an average QB and a really good defense and the sky is the limit.

The colts right now need to put feelings aside and do whats right for this team and that is fixing it up not spending tons of money at the QB position when you have a defense thats in shambles with no depth what so ever.

But you can do both, get your QB and work on the defense....

  12. No comment on who replaces them. I will say this. If Bill pulls the trigger on Luck, and trades or releases Peyton, then am not going to be a happy camper. The reason is he is old. He is not going to be around with Luck for the next 13 or so season like he was with Manning. He is completely asking his son, who no one is even sure knows what he is doing, to live with his choice. Believe me, if Luck comes in and Peyton is traded it will by Bill pulling the strings on that deal.

What leads you to believe that Chris would not agree with that move?

  13. Because this is the real world and when you have an opportunity to be a star why would you accept sitting back behind another person and let him shine? this isnt fairy land... peytons dad isnt peyton but he's right, seriously if you were luck and the pats had the number one pick would you wanna sit behind brady for two years?

Thing is Luck has nothing to say about it. He is employee and the Colts are the employer, and in any job you do what your boss tells you weather you like it or not. I mean I guess he could go play in Canada or the Arena League but outside of that he has no option but to do what he is told to do.

  14. If you go to a restaurant and are served HORRIBLE food 12 weeks in a row you don't need to know what is going on in the kitchen to realize that the chef sucks...

Not if said cook who performed well before is say lacking the ingrediants that he had access to in the past, I would talk with the owner find out when they will be getting in better supplies and try back then. Even Bobby Flay can't cook with bad ingrediants...
