  1. True, but I'm pretty sure some schemes are better than other schemes and take less talent to be effective. Any person who has played a lick of football will know waiting for the opponent to come to you will get you ran over. I can see why we can't tackle now. It's because of the players and the scheme. Even when our defense was playing at its best we were not a top 5 defense. That means something is wrong with the scheme. Why is it so hard for our team to attack the ball before the offense has thrown it? Why is it so hard for our defense to force TO's and not wait for them? You know I hate to bring this up, but maybe Tryon was right, Caldwell doesn't run this team.

And on the Nnamdi point, that is true, but does that mean all the corners we have are man corners because they can't play the zone well? I understand you can't fit a circle into a square hole but this is different. Instead of trying to fit a circle into a square hole, we are hoping the circle will turn into a square. This scheme is horrible. I don't know how this can sit right with anyone that has played organized football. You tell your team to go out and get punched in the mouth and hope the opposing team misses.

Same Excuse, New year. injuries, injuries, injuries, injuries. Oh, if we wouldn't get injured every year, we would win the SB every year.

From 2000 - 2009 how many "key" injuries did the Colts suffer? Outside of maybe Bob Sanders missing some time and Edge missing some time, I don't think the injury issue for the Colts was no where near what it has been in the 2010 and 2011 season.

  2. This guy is definitely trolling for Polian. He can't see why we were good the last decade. It was all #18. Without the GOAT we wouldn't have had the greatest mind in football directing our offense, and we might not have made any playoff runs at all. There is a reason we used to be number one year and and year out on the MetLife protection index. Now we are bottom on the barrel minus 18 and the o-line isn't really any worse.

Polian probably cost Manning at least three super bowls by fielding inferior talent on defense and firing Mora and Fangio. We are doomed as long as Polian remains.

I guess we are then doomed to double digit win seaons, repeated divisional titles, some conf titles and a super bowl appearance here and there...man does that suck just being that good...

  3. I'm mel kiper, I have no clue how I got my job btw.

He got his job by working hard, and knowing more about college football athletes then just about anyone on this earth. He is also not the only one saying that both Peyton and Luck can't co-exsist on the same team. Dan Patrick said the same this morning, Archie Manning has said it and others will say it. Doesn't mean they are right, but in the long run for the franchise it might be best to either release or trade Manning and move on.

  4. Not so sure, I feel like he has a good shot, just look at Polians belief system in hiring from within,m or promoting from within.

I am not saying I am a big fan of tressel, (I am just a fan of anybody not named caldwell) but I felt something was fishy when they brought him in at the beginning of the year. Polian loves Ohio State, just look Gonzo is still on the team...

During Polian's tenure as a GM in the NFL, can you please list all the coaches/HC he has hired and how many of those came from within?

  5. He has a show because he is an ego maniac... Fantastic . They love that stuff, they love messing with people's mind or in his case fans minds,Again fantastic the guy running an NFL franchise/a business, to MESS with his fans/customers minds???...this is like a kid in a candy store..yeah???

Whats your point? You defend the guy. Polian has turned his team into a disgrace & you think the guy is awesome, just look at his resume... Take away Manning & relook at the reusme... WINNLESS...

This team is not a disagrace, it's having a bad season that's all. Bill Polian took a disgraceful franchise and turned it into one of the top franchises in pro sports, let alone the NFL. He built a winning franchise and to "insult" the other players who have won Colt Blue that is do just to Peyton is a joke. I dare you to go up to Jeff Saturday or any Colt and tell them that. Did Polian make some bad moves, YES, all GM's do. Ask the Philly GM right now how he is felling with all the money he spent this past off season for the team and how well that is going.

  6. From STAMPEDE BLUE

    http://www.stampedeblue.com/

    Perfect timing!

For those that don't remember, Jim Mora was fired after the 2001 season because he refused to dismiss his then-defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, per the orders of team president Bill Polian. In Mora's eyes, it wasn't the coach who was at fault for the Colts defense giving up 30 points per game. It was the front office. Coaches can't take sub-par talent and make it win, and talent on defense was nonexistent in 2001.

Mora refused to dismiss Fangio. Upon that refusal, both men were sent packing. Mora hasn't even spoken to Polian since.

Ironically, Jim Caldwell was in the exact same position this year as Mora was in 2001. Caldwell opted to obey the orders from the Polians, and he fired Larry Coyer last week. Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Vic Fangio is currently coordinating the No. 1 defense in all of football, surrendering only 13.4 points per game

And you point is? How many divisional titles do the 49ers have over the past decade? How many SB appearances?

  7. Sarcasm is a dificult theory to comprehend...

I think everyone knows Polian is king at NFL speak, & his skillful ability to speak on & on & on without saying anything, or at least anything meaningful, a big reason why some of us find it ridiculous that the ego-maniac even bothers to host a pointless radio show.

He has a show because he is an ego maniac. They love that stuff, they love messing with people's mind or in his case fans minds...this is like a kid in a candy store....

  8. So Polian is now a coach in addition to the Vice Chairman and de facto GM. He is dictating the defensive schemes so why have a coach? I wonder why Irsay don't wake up and realize Polian is ruining this franchise with his uncontrollable need to be in charge of everything. The job of any GM is to procure the talent for the team. The X's and O's are the responsibility of the head coach and staff.

Once Caldwell is fired what self-respecting head coach candidate will want the job if his hands are already tied by the Vice Chairman/GM? It is looking more and more like we will get a Caldwell clone.

I am willing to bet that if Bill Polian said the sky was falling people would believe him. PEOPLE he is an NFL pro at NFL speak and I am continually amazed at how people just suck up what he says and believes everything he says to the press....come on folks...

  9. So you can fathom that peoples perform can decline, but you refuse to understnad that polian & caldwells performance decline of 14-2, 10-6, 0-12 is a massive decline and should imply that some management & philosophy schemes need to change...

I look at what is behind the decline. With Peyton you have age/injury. The decline of the team is due to injury. Do you think the team would have the record it had if we didn't suffer key injuries?

  10. Are you the same poster who said it is obvious that peytons time is over & that the team needs to move on without him, but brings up the history of POLIANS success every time to defend Bill Polian...

    Laughable...

Yes the era of Peyton is or has come to a close. He may never play for the Colts again he may play for a couple of seasons for them but for all purpose, the next big run this franchise goes on will be with a different QB. We will have to wait and see what happens, but so far under Bill Polians direction this franchise has been successful. And it's due to more then just (18).

  11. It's amazing how Clown Caldwell gets a free pass in Indy outlets and in the NFL world media in general. He should be ripped to shreads about destroying this once proud team from his horrible coaching. He was hired as Dungy-lite. Colts need a coach who can kick themn in the rear.I have a bad feeling that Chris, Bill and Jim; with his mindless tweets and non-involvemnet that Clown Caldwell may actaully be back.

Could it be they have a better understanding then "Joe Colt fan" of the overall situation and don't overreact?

  12. Yeah, if you are reading that and FLAWED doesn't crash into your mind, then you need help. Polian needs a reality check. We don't even have anyone on the team that hits hard enough that would make the WR's get tired of being hit! What does he see that we are not seeing? If anything, the WR's hit us more than we hit them!

I guess we can only wait and see if what Bill says is how he sees the Colts approach the draft and next season, or if he is just blowing smoke because he knows it tickes people off...

  13. Anyone remember a quarterback named John Elway ? he was drafted by the (Baltimore) Colts but said he would rather play Major League Baseball than play for the Colts. So, just because you draft Andrew Luck, does not mean he would sign or necessarily want to play, or more realistically- hold a clipboard for 3 years. And if he's that gifted, no football team is going to sit him (((see: Tim Tebow))) It would be unfair to Luck, his team and to fans of ALL teams. We all want to see him play.

It's so funny to read everyone's perfect scenarios regarding Luck and the Colts management. haha

    A) Luck doesn't have baseball to use as leverage like Elway did.

    B) I don't think anyone is saying he would hold a clipboard for 3 years...I could see 2.

    C) Very few teams are in teh position to have a starting QB like Peyton and be able to draft a talent like Luck

  14. Dn...what did we win? Regular season games?

I think the rest of us see that if we did have a solid defense along with our high scoring offense, we would've won more super Bowls. That is the point of playing right?

The goal is the SB, but you can't discount the regular season also. Winnig the SB takes more then just talent, there is a huge luck factor in it also. Look at GB last year, they got into the playoffs with a 10-6 record and due to the stupid Giants punter. If he doesn't screw up, odds are the Packers are not even in the playoffs. Personally I value the regular season more because the luck factor is reduced and the true talented teams win more often. Were the Giants better then the 18-0 Pats, or did they just get lucky in that SB?

Also, in last year's playoff game, I D gave up what 17pts? How many times would you accept that from your D and yet we still didn't win. How many playoff losses were due to us being blown out?

  15. Anytime your GM publicly states that the philosophy of any aspect of the team is based on hoping the other team makes a mistake and then we can win a game, that is justification for any armchair GM making more competent decisions! If nont for Manning at the helm, Polian would have been fired several years back with his philosphy and many of his moves quite frankly.

Why do you listen to what he says? No GM/coach or owner is ever going to state in a public forum how they operate and do things.

  16. dn... Please note that this is a forum where people are free to give their opinion. Also note that it's highly unlikely that the FO is reading our threads and making their decisions based on what we have to say. It's a medium for us fans to express our opinions. Obviously if we were running the team, we would be busy doing just that and not writing our opinions on a forum.

With that said, I also want to let yo know why we as fans are upset with the FO. Our defense has slowly regressed over the years. We've all kown and expressed our frustration in previous years that teams could rush agains the Colts at will. The only bright spot on our defense was that we could at least defend against the pass. This may have been due to opposing teams desire to run the ball against us more on average, having better defensive players, especially at the CB position, and and our dominant pass rush. However, our only bright spot, our pass defense has now also deteriated so badly that it is now our achilies heal. Here are our defensive team rankings over the past 5 years in total yards allowed:

    Year Ranking in NFL

    2007 3rd

    2008 16th

    2009 18th

    2010 20th

    2011 28th

Do you notice a pattern? This is why we are upset. We have all noticed a steady deteriation of our defense. If we take your approach and just sit back and relax we would go crazy. We are passionate fans and care about our team and want to vent our frustration. Trust me, there's a lot to be frustrated about right now. I am a firm believer in patterns and tendencies. Polians latest pattern is not indicative of success.

And yet those numbers we won. As we are seeing with the Pats and Packers this year, if your offense is great, you can overcome average to bad defenses. this league is moving more and more to the offensive side, so Polian did that and put an offense on the field that could just outscore you. Also for the most part our defense was a bend don't break style where we would allow teams to run up and down the field but not put a ton of points on the board and it worked. Is it a perfect system to operate under, maybe not, but for 10+ seasons it worked. Now with Peyton down it doesn't so we need to either get Peyton back and go back to what we were doing, or rebuild with a different structure. Which ever happens I am confident in those running this franchise that they will do that.

  17. I wish just one time when your gaurdian leaves the house at 10.45am they would forget to unlock the basement door, so just one thread could be saved from your tired post.

How are my posts anymore tired then your "teams sucks, GM sucks, Coach is an *, Polian needs to be fired, Caldwell is horrible, Chris got his job due to his name, Irsay is out to lunch, this team is doomed....have I missed anything?

  18. And you're the one who said Polian and Caldwell were wrong for not putting Manning on IR and that they were wrong for not starting Dan O. sooner so this argument from you holds no water....zero...none. You can't criticize the front office for decisions that you didn't agree with but then criticize fans for criticizing the same front office for other decisions or comments that they disagree with but you don't. That's the very definition of being a hypocrite.

I believe that both Polian and Caldwell have made bad decisions, but all GM's and Coaches do. Overall I have no problem with the job Bill Polian has done as GM of the Colts througout his tenure. As for Caldwell I don't put as much stock in the value of a coach as some do.

My problem with some fans is it's okay to question or have issues with decisions that are made, but to think you know more then those in charge do, or that those in charge don't know what they are doing is laughable. I don't like some of the decisions our present President has made, but in no way do I think I could do a better job or that he is doing a bad job or is not qualified.

  19. I would ask you the same thing just on the other side of the argument. How do you know as a couch potatoe he is doing the right things?

    hmmm.

History. Look at how the Colts have performed over the past 10 seasons. You don't get that kind of performance level by luck in the NFL. You can debate the "way" the Colts made it happen but you can't argue the results. Over the past decade how many other NFL teams had a better winning %? Maybe 2? That shows me that weather you like the man or not, he knows how to put a winning product on the field more times then not, and we are not even taking into consideration what he did in Buffalo or Carolina.
