I'd hate to lose him, but I do like Swoope...

I saw everything you saw only that I do think he's an edge rusher. Athleticism allows him to do multiple things. Great cover guy.
Very true. For a team that is starting over at LB, a versatile LB like Bowser who can play any of our 4 positions would be perfect. He's the player I most want to fit into my mock drafts, no matter what round he rises to.,,

I actually like Tyus Bowser quite a bit!
I love Bowser. He was my favorite late-round sleeper after watching a game last year. He looked athletic, very fast, and great in coverage. He's known to many as an edge rusher, but he only seemed to have the speed rush. That being said, his burst around the edge was amazing. All things considered, I think he would be a great, athletic ILB for us like Ballard seems to want...of course, he's no longer a late-round guy after his SB practices...

I honestly think Mixon will go somewhere in the 2nd Rd if he has a good Pro-day. He is without a doubt the best receiver out of the backfield in the draft and potentially the best RB in this class when all is said and done.
I'm starting to agree about Mixon in the 2nd. I watched the video, and it looked like his reflexes got the better of him. I remember a couple of times my young sons just walked up and bit me when I wasn't paying attention, and my reflexive reaction could have gotten me investigated for child abuse...

Love the Jarrad, Mixon, and Johnson picks. But count me among those who think Solomon Thomas is a bad system fit. Too small to be a 3-4 DL, but not quick or twitchy enough to play our Rush LB role...

Ramczyk or Cam Robinson.

Love Davis and Bowser. Hooker is just the type of value BPA a rookie GM with four years of job security ahead of him makes without batting an eye...
-
From a value perspective, we'd have to be thinking Fournette, Solomon Thomas, or one of the CBs I haven't been paying any attention to...

What happens to Blythe?
Don't like Blythe. He didn't make the team in this scenario...

Salary Cap Casualty: D’Qwell
Outside FAs: Dontari Poe, NT, Chiefs; Sean Spence, ILB, Titans; Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Bengals; Knile Davis, RB, Chiefs; Britton Colquitt, P, Browns
Inside FAs Re-signed: Walden, Doyle, Harrison, Butler, Ayers (conflicting info as to whether he’s already under contract), Swoope (RFA), Adams, Bray
Inside FAs Allowed to Walk: Thornton, Kerr, Turbin, Cole, Todman
Beaten Out in TC: Jones, Reitz, Ferguson
Draft:
1) Charles Harris, OLB, Missouri. I’m projecting a rise that eliminates the possibility of trading down and still getting him. He’s got a great first step, good closing speed, excellent athleticism, and a killer instinct. Needs to develop more moves (he’s now just got speed and a good spin move). But, he’s a great kid and a hard worker – a coach’s dream. Hard to believe I'm one of the only ones on this forum on his jock right now.
2) Taylor Moton, OL, Western Michigan. I’m a fan of last year’s draft picks, and I feel the line just needs a little more time to develop. However, I expect the new GM to want to shore it up more and build it into more of an elite line. Moton could be an All Pro RG within a couple of years IMO, and it would push Haeg back into an all-important 6th OL/4-position back-up role.
3) Tyus Bowser, LB, Houston. Bowser was my favorite sleeper LB (5th or 6th round) earlier in the draft season after I watched him play in two games. What caught my eye was how good he looked in coverage and his incredible burst around the edge. I thought he could play any one of our LB spots, and his best fit could be at ILB. Then, the man looked great at SB practices and Zurlein says he won’t make it out of the 3rd. Ballard’s comments about LBs who can cover and rush the passer makes me think he’d like this guy a lot. His versatility makes him a great fit for a team that needs all-round improvement all over the LB corps. I’d start him out as an ILB and eventually he could replace Walden at SAM.
4) Tenzel Smart, DL, Tulane. Ballard will want to make his mark on the DL, and he has already talked about getting after the passer. This speaks well for T.Y. McGill’s stock, and Smart is another attempt to improve the rush from this level of the D. If Langford and Anderson have their explosion back after their injuries, there could be a lot of platooning/rotation on this line.
4C) John Johnson, S, Boston College. We interviewed him. I don’t know what kind of safety Ballard favors, but Johnson is a versatile guy. He even took CB reps at the SB. Bringing back two old guys at safety (Butler and Adams), we need a legitimate young successor.
5) Elijah McGuire, RB, Louisiana LaFayette. In a great RB year, McGuire offers great value as a receiver and all-round runner. High character too. A good sleeper feature back. Knowing I could probably get McGuire here is what kept me from drafting a RB earlier.
6) Keionta Davis, OLB, Tennessee Chattanooga. The system fit is the question (at 270 lbs), but I’m taking a chance in the 6th round with a potential 3rd string rush LB. He should be a good designated pass-rusher to develop.

No need to cut him pre-TC. You never know when or where injuries will hit, so having him in camp is probably the right thing to do. But, I expect him to be beaten out in camp by younger, healthier players...

Voted Williams/Feeney as a proxy for my ACTUAL one-two: OLB Charles Harris and OL Taylor Moton.

I'm too worried about wasting our highest pick in the last five years on a guy who might not fit our system well. I don't see our system changing much and I don't think there's a place in our system that we can make effective use of his great talent. Too bad, move on to other prospects.

Oh, I agree about Foster. He's my fondest hope for #15/14, but I think he'll go in the 9-12 range or so...

True dat.

Reuben Foster as #2? I see people putting him in the Top 5 and I seriously doubt it. He'd have to be the guaranteed second coming of Kuechly...

I know it's way higher than most have him at right now - he's generally being considered like a 3rd rounder or 2nd at best... And I do think that's his range where he'd be picked. RB is an undervalued position to an extent, and this is a strong class where teams won't need to reach.
However my slotting Kamara that high is no accident - I think he's pretty similar to Dalvin Cook in ability. I think he's in that sort of class, because he has elite elusiveness and receiving skills. He reminds me of a bigger, stronger, and theoretically more durable version of Dion Lewis.
Fair enough. I knew that the games I had seen were not his best, as his scouting reports all seemed to describe a great receiver and explosive runner (which I didn't see). But I'll keep an open mind on him, because I love the idea of picking up a 2nd round RB (particularly if we trade down in the first an pick up another 2nd rounder...)
-
That Kamara slot seems odd to me. I watched him in a couple of games and wasn't all that impressed. (Those games were once he became the starter, though; I understand that he was more impressive coming in off the bench.) I have him as my third or fourth favorite for a 3rd round RB right now...

Very nice job! Many different ways to fill a team's needs, but I agree with your priorities. You seem to believe (much as I do) that this off-season will largely be about rebuilding the LB corps. Getting a couple of long-term OLB solutions in FA and drafting ILBs is a sound idea to me, though I love Edwin and think getting two ILBs early is a little overkill. Two thoughts: 1) I believe Jarrad Davis is much more highly regarded by NFL people than us draftniks, and I think he'll be gone in the 20s, and 2) there are some key inside FAs that might take up a bit of our FA $ (should we decide to keep them). I'm talking about Jack Doyle, Darius Butler, Jonnothan Harrison, Mike Adams, Erik Walden, Zach Kerr, etc.
-
If we can't get Reuben Foster in the 1st (which I don't think we can), I have us trading down into the twenties to select Davis. Absolutely elite leadership qualities, and on the field he's a slightly less athletic Foster. I hope he's starting next to Edwin next year...

You would want Kirkpatrick?
Give me Gilmore from Buffalo.
Gilmore would be better, but also more expensive (and harder to get)...

I agree with everyone but Adams. (Or as someone suggested, Butler can play safety.) We've got to have an experienced back-up safety...

Tyus Bowser. Athletic, instinctive, fast, and able to play all four of our LB position. Add his coverage ability, and he' exactly what a rebuilding corps needs: an interchangeable part...
