I say play the kid. Play him half the game. AR that is. Since shortening the preseason (a move I was originally not for..but now I like it) I think it’s good to give him more rep time in a game than spread like over 4 games. I’d have given him half a game all 3 games if it were my call.

    I agree 100%.  This guy needs reps…

I think they would like to have Richardson play a quarter again but it has to scare them to put him out there with the second offensive line.

    I suppose if Chicago is like-minded, he’ll be going against a 2nd-team D-line…

Since there is joint practices this week I think there might be a chance starters don’t play much Saturday.

That’s true, except we only have three QBs, and two are listed as starter separated by an “or” on the depth chart.  I wonder if Ehlinger plays almost the whole game…

Keep in mind that those pff grades are just pass-blocking grades.  We had pretty good holes in the run game.  I feel like that’s almost more important right now…

The stats show us going 3.1 ypc.  One article I read said the running game was bad.  Interestingly, our short yardage ineptitude made things look worse than they were.  Both fourth down misses resulted from the same pattern: 2nd & 4, run for two yards, run for one, run for zero.  Take out those two sequences and our YPC goes up half a yard.  I feel like Deon’s healthy almost 6ypc is more of what we saw in the game…

  5. Pretty pleased with AR’s debut.  Obviously, he’d love to have that int. back, but I guarantee he learned something from that.  Not the time to risk that throw, with a receiver running a route right behind McKenzie.  He threw a beautiful TD pass to Pierce, he looked comfy in the pocket, and he moved around well.  Only one other misfire, and a lot of nice throws.  Good start…

You think teams only take the underwear Olympics into consideration before drafting a player?

According to Dodds (I think that's the one that was haunting the Gators' practices), we were watching AR closely all year.  It was largely his athleticism that got him drafted in Round 1, and that was certainly confirmed at the UO (lol).  I guess you could argue that we wouldn't have drafted him at #4 if he tested worse, but really I was convinced by his natural accuracy at the Combine.  I expected him to be wildly inaccurate (or at least inconsistently accurate), but he ended up being the third most accurate QB there after Stroud and Stetson Bennett IMO.

  7. Something’s going on.  The theory about his injury being more major is interesting, but for the update that he was “good to go” right before camp.  If I had to guess, I think we found more trade-and-sign interest in JT than we thought and decided we’d take a Day 2 pick and sign someone like Hunt for one year.  Better for long term and avoids signing a RB long term…

  8. I’ve been checking other camps this year, and they’re saying all positive things about Young.  Stroud has had his ups and downs, it would seem.  Apparently, Mills hasn’t exactly torn up their camp , though.  Most fans in Houston seem to think Stroud is winning that battle, but the Texans say it’s an open competition…

Not just at WR, but I think JAC certainly has more overall receiving talent. Ridley was a top 5 WR before the mental issues and suspension. And Kirk was better than MPJ last season. Zay Jones is a pretty good WR3 as well. Plus, they have a pass catching weapon in Etienne and Engram at TE.

After that, it's probably a toss-up, though I would give TEN the nod as the best remaining duo with DHop and Burks.

Very hard for me, as I’m an eternal optimist (especially when it comes to the Colts), but I see MPJ/AP/JD as a dead heat with Jax.  Sure, their guys had more production with Lawrence throwing to them, but I’d take our guys this year.  And the rest in AFCS is behind us…

I hope I can avoid spoilers and watch the game on replay Sunday. Really excited to see AR.

Yeah, me too.  I’m going to try to avoid going to nfl sites by habit until I can get to the 7am Sun. NFL Network replay.  Probably have to be after church…

He actually made a McDonalds run, getting the whole team 2 Egg McMuffins a piece and 1 large Coffee. They need their energy as the team is working hard

We know JT can’t afford that on $4.5M this year.  Subsistence wages!

, and the receiving core is a bit questionable still after Pittman and even Woods has development to go at TE. The O-Line was terrible last year and is largely the same, and that's just the offense. We have a weak secondary, and there's no guarantee Leonard will be 100% ever again.

Yeah, this is taking the most pessimistic view of each of these position groups.  Pittman/Pierce/Downs has as much talent as any team in our division.  This same OL may have been bad last year on average, as we played with a RG and LT who failed, followed by replacements completing unplanned OJT.  By the end they were good.  Not just “passable”, but good.  And the secondary has a lot of young investments who can sep up, if we give them a chance…

Yeah.  I may be on an island, but I completely disagree with the "team has little to no talent, and can't be competitive" crowd.  Are we YOUNG in almost every area?  Absolutely.  Talentless?  Far from it ...

QB - AR....  We'll see, Minshew is solid backup           lvl at least

RB - JT if healthy is all world,                                         Drake/Moss/Hull/Jackson there's a solid           room there.

    WR - Pitt/Pierce/Downs

TE -  The two trees, and Granson, MAC is avg.

OL - Raimann has potential, Q,Kelly,Smith didn't forget how to play...

    K - Top 5

    P - solid

DL - Defo, Grove Great, Ebukam solid, Kwity,      Odenigbo, Ade Ade, have potential.....Taven and Tyjuan good depth....

LB - Looks like 53 Is likely going to be close if not back to his old self, Zaire is solid, EJ and the 2nd year guy look like good depth and STers

CB - Kenny is anything from below avg to solid....  JuJu,  rush, JJ, are all young and HUGE....  They'll take their lumps but should be exciting to watch grow

S - Blackmon is + lvl starter when healthy, R. Thomas is avg+ and Cross looks like a riser....

There's talent in there .....No, they aren't all All pro players this year, or maybe ever.... But could they win the division in a year or two? Absolutely, if not this year with a few big breaks their way.

Yeah, I personally love that he said we’re devoid of elite talent.  Two years ago we had the most PBers in the NFL with 7, which is one measure of top tier talent.  All seven are still on the team, and only one (a LS) is over 29.  We have the the talent, we just gotta have a QB and get everyone playing to their level again…

I disagree.  Seems to be another expert who thinks you need big name FAs to fix weaknesses.  For the Colts, using the 2nd selection in the team’s draft on a CB is a big attempt to fix the problem.  Add two more drafted CBs, and that’s a big commitment.  As far as the OL goes, we’ll have to see if it was as broken as many think.  Fries and Raimann played well at the end of last year…and Freeland was one of my OT faves in this draft…

No news is probably good news at this point. He's not making headlines but he's also not noticeably / standout terrible either.

True dat.  What’ll help his case a lot is if he can get to the QB in the joint practices coming up, even though it’ll probably be against 2nd and 3rd teamers for him…

Any word on if the Wagner late rounder is doing well or not ?? Titus Leo.

    I'm rooting for him.

Haven’t seen his name in a single TC report.  Not sure the early TC is a place for edge rushers to stand out, though…
