For Colts/Broncos, the common opponents are: Browns, Texans, and Raiders. We play Texans twice and they play the Raiders twice. It really depends on our loss because we could beat the Raiders and still be out if the Texans beat us. I'm more concerned with the Texans than Broncos. The Texans could go 10-7 with the 7th loss coming against the Browns and we could go 10-7 with a loss to the Texans in the finale. Texans get the tiebreaker due to division record and they would be 2nd place in the South. Texans would then win the tiebreaker against a 10-7 Denver team since they beat them earlier. Again, I think there will be at least one 10-7 AFC team sitting home this year. Just go 11-6 and leave no doubt.

To be honest, it wouldn't bother me if the 49ers won it all this season as it's been nearly 30 years since their last Lombardi. They have very likable players and I'm tired of seeing Mahomes, his wife, Kelce & Swift. For the AFC, I'd root for us first, but then maybe the Bills afterwards. If the Bills make the playoffs and get to the SB, then it will be well-deserved because they beat top competition during the stretch run and got hot at the right time.

With Lawrence in concussion protocol and the Jags playing on the road next week against a Bucs team trying to win their division, I think there is a better chance they lose against Tampa than the Titans. I'm just glad we're having this discussion and that we control our destiny for a postseason appearance. Hopefully, the Colts learned a lesson from 2021.

If we beat the Falcons, proceed to lose against the Raiders and Texans, and don't make the playoffs, then this forum blow up, liquor sales will skyrocket, thousands of Colt fans will lose their minds and mass hysteria will ensue...you know...end of the world stuff. I obviously don't want it to happen, but if it does, it will make a great case study in behavioral psychology.

With all the backup QBs playing, they want the "big 4" (Allen, Tua, Jackson, and Mahomes) playing in the postseason more than ever. G-Min is a good story, but we have to face the fact that the league and advertisers want the thoroughbreds on the field in Jan/Feb. I'm channelling my inner Bill Murray from Meatballs - "it just doesn't matter". Let's run the table at 11-6 and be the post-season party poopers.

He is getting the most out of his players considering all the injuries. The way we ran the ball at will against the Steelers in the 2nd half was a thing of beauty.

I always assumed that our week 18 game against Hou would be winner gets a WC and loser goes home. Now there is an outside chance that the winner gets the division - very strange development. Even stranger is that the Bills could run the table and win the AFC east if the Ravens beat the Dolphins. The NFL wants Buffalo in the playoffs and I'll just leave it at that.

2022: Titans started at 7-3 and collapsed to finish at 7-10 while the Jags started 4-8 and rallied to finish 9-8 and won the division. 2023: Jags started at 8-3 and have lost 3 straight while the Colts started 3-5 and have rallied to be at 8-6 The 2023 Jags are currently doing their best 2022 Titan impersonation while the 2023 Colts are currently impersonating the 2022 Jags.

Interesting similarities in the AFC South in both seasons during the stretch run. Each season with a monumental collapse and with a surging team. Lawrence is in concussion protocol and the Jags have a tough game against a Bucs team trying to win their division. The Jags left alot of points on the field against the Ravens - 2 missed FGs, a redzone fumble, poor clock management at the end of the 1st half, and turnover on downs in the redzone in the 4th Q. The Jags definitely deserved to lose that game.

No matter how the final 3 games pan out...
MarylandTerrapin replied to RockThatBlue's topic in Colts Football
I believe we did it in 2005 as both were primetime games on MNF. Manning finally won at Foxboro and they did that Mastercard commercial towards the end of the MNF game "beating the Patriots at Foxborough - priceless." We also beat Big Ben at home on MNF when Manning hit Marvin with a long TD on our 1st possession. We also did it in 2008 - the last time we beat the Steelers before now. We also beat the Pats, but that was the year Brady was out for the season after that week 1 knee injury. -
Colts fans, who is your favorite non-colt player?

It reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street". Replace the flickering lights with a Colts loss and watch people lose their minds. It would actually be quite amusing to be a member of an alien race whose assignment is to monitor the behavior of Colt fans after a win and then after a loss.

Yes - he went by Tony Clifton on the forums. There were others I remember too...LedZepColt...I think he passed away in an auto accident or something like that. SDColt was a moderator I believe...we chatted about college hoops (Terps vs Hoosiers) once in a while. There was a Dolphins fan who posted on occasion and there was that Steeler's fan, IanWetstone, who would post as well. The forums were more civil back then...but then again, society seemed to be more civil. For the most part, people agreed to disagree and then moved on.

This^. I even mentioned it in another post the other week that this season reminds me of 2012. I joined this forum during the 2012 preseason as the other site, ColtPower, was shutting down (I was known as DJGreyhound over there). I remember Al Ulrich over there, he was the Colts fan from Canada...anyone else remember him? The funniest avatar I remember was back in Dungy's first season, Al Ulrich had an avatar of Dungy's face with Jeff Fisher's hairdo - anyone else remember that?

This season reminds me of the 2012 season in many ways. We had a (-30 point differential) and a (-13 TO ratio), but we found ways to win games. I think we were 9-1 in one score games that year and won several ugly games, but we showed alot of heart and battled week in and week out. I think the whole "ChuckStrong" mantra carried the team somewhat, but we had several solid core players. I argue that Reggie actually had his best year in 2012. This year we're 5-2 in one score games, have a (+4 point differential) and a (+2 TO ratio) and find ways to win games with several solid core players. It's not pretty, but it doesn't matter at this point. It's been a fun ride so far and I just tune out the constant "doom and gloomers". They obviously have other issues going on in their psyche that have nothing to do with the Colts.

I agree. I was just pointing out there is a thin line between wins & losses. Most people forget to realize that we never should have won the Ravens game, but as you said...things happen. We're 6-5 and will be playing meaningful games in December. I believe nearly all Colt fans would have taken that in a heartbeat in August regardless of who the QB was.
