Yeah I am not sure people that keep saying he’s injury prone understand he was really playing through what should have been a season ending injury.

Had a bad hip at least part of the back half of the season as it showed up on the injury report. I am not going to hammer any kicker for missing a 57 yard kick.

Yep that’s where I am at. It’s no sure thing if they used another player or play it would have worked but it’s also no sure thing it would have failed either. my issue all along has been the players they used more than the playcall. Personally I would have probably ran to the outside (they had just had two successful outside runs) but after seeing how open Goodson was you can’t argue that it was a poor play design so I don’t take issue with that. I just question the logic of trusting your season to your backup QB who was having a bad night and a guy who hasn’t played much all night and had six career catches and taking your best player off the field and not even using him as a decoy. I know others see it another way and that’s fine. Smart people can both see something use logic and disagree about it.

As much as I didn’t like his final play call last night I am not going to deny that Shane is a good coach and made a big impact on the team. Also, Ballard might not be the best GM in football some made him out to be years ago but he’s clearly better than some like to give him credit for.

Yeah should be in position to get a fairly good player.

Personally I look at each draft differently. I think you make a decision based who is on there. If there are two or three guys you like or no guys you really like you move back and clearly that changes with every draft.

Yes but most QBs can throw go routes, it’s not a complicated pass. It’s more about timing than anything else.

It wasn’t right, Goodson, with his six career catches shouldn’t have been on the field and the target of the most important play of the season. This is the same crud people got mad at Reich for (rightfully so) when he would take Taylor out and try to force the ball with Hines.

Which they did when they took Taylor out and put Goodson in there. Everyone knew Goodson wasn’t getting a handoff there which you can tell by the way the Texans played it. They played it for a pass to Pittman. If nothing else Taylor on the field probably makes the defense stack the deck for him and opens up someone else. Again, there were other options. The play design was solid no one has argued that. What people don’t like was the personal usage because putting the season in the hands of your back up QB and practice squad level RB with six career catches is a recipe for disaster and we saw the disaster in terms of how they didn’t execute it.

They could have always had Downs do his come back to the running back and rotate back out bit he does and been in that spot. As for Taylor maybe not maybe so, we will never know. There is also the option you didn’t have to call that play. It doesn’t mean it was a bad play design but I am also sure it wasn’t the only option in that situation and probably one that was better than depending on a guy who had six career catches and had very limited action in the game and a back up QB executing it no matter how good of a design the play was.

Taylor was literally on the field the play before and who they used to get down the field with the injury and Shane said after the game Taylor was fine. So the Taylor was hurt stuff is just attempt to shift the blame. Shane made the call to take Taylor out put Goodson in because he felt Goodson was the best option for the play because he was the pass catching back (which I disagree with idea that a guy with six career catches is now your pass catching back) and said so last night. As someone else said stop trying warp reality.

Ballard didn’t put Goodson in the game there Shane did. I agree it doesn’t make Shane a bad catch but just because he’s done a good job doesn’t make him immune from criticism when he makes a mistake.
