  1. That's pretty common for QBs of his stature. Absolutely. He doesn't have the high end athletic traits or Brents or Rush, but he can just flat out play. He's doing the same thing he did in college. Just locks WRs up and plays the run well.
  2. I'm assuming you meant Baker and not Brents? 100%. He's done much better than I expected, but easily the worst player on the line right now. Agreed. His absence is apparent.
  3. I don't think we need to fire anyone right now. We lost: Starting CB Rodgers to an indefinite suspension. Starting CB Flowers to a season-ending injury. Starting CB Brents to a week to week injury. Starting NT Stewart for 6 games due to PEDs. That's a LOT of injuries in the secondary and once you get down to your CB3 and practice-squad guys, it'll usually be pretty ugly. When we had Stewart playing, our run defense was better and when Flowers and Brents were out there, our pass defense was solid. Jones has been really good for a rookie CB and I think him and Brents are our future starting CBs. Most of us knew expectations for this team weren't going to be high this season with a rookie HC, rookie QB, and a young defensive secondary. When healthy, we have a pretty talented young roster. I'm not optimistic for this season, but I don't believe Ballard made moves with us being in contention in mind, but to set this team up to be really good in the next year or 2.
  4. How one of the fastest guys on our team has been getting burnt like he has is beyond me.
  5. Not at all. It's something AR was elite at in college and so far in the NFL.
  6. That's 100% an incomplete pass and should have been a personal foul for hitting the QB in the face/head.
  7. Hopefully Steichen learned something after last week's disaster and we see better playcalling.
  8. I don't think they were talking about installing a new scheme, more of ability to hire a new DC and staff. It was pretty late in the process when Steichen was hired and most available defensive staff had been hired already.
  9. Absolutely not. Minshew threw the ball based on how fast Pierce was running and as soon as the ball left his hand, Pierce throttled down, which completely threw off the timing. Pierce is in his 2nd year. He was drafted in 2022. Pierce came in as deep ball, contested catch WR that ran a limited route tree and needed a lot of work on the technical side. One of my favorite things about Downs as a prospect was how advanced he was technically and as a route runner. They just came in with varying strengths and weaknesses, but Downs is just the more technically sound WR and Pierce was way more raw when we drafted him. That said, I haven't been impressed with Pierce or his development so far.
  10. Olubi plays MIKE. Speed is SAM and Leonard is WILL, so most likely it'll be Olubi. On another note, I'd love to see Nick Cross in as a Dime LB some.
  11. Did nobody else see the DB literally hugging Pittman when Minshew rolled out? It was so blatant...
  12. He was pretty widely graded as a first rounder pre-injury.
  13. I hate to lose, but competitive losses like this one (ref shenanigans & Minshew turnovers aside) are what you like to see from a young team. We've got a talented young team that will be really good in the next couple of years.
