  1. An example of a REACH to keep Peyton happy.

They passed on LaMarr Woodley, Eric Weddle, Sidney Rice.

    2007 draft- so weak

    Rd #1 Gonzo

    Rd #2 Ugoh for a 1st and a 4th

    Rd#3 Quinn Pitcock

    Rd #4 Brannon Condren

    Rd #4 Clint Session

    Rd#5 Roy Hall

    Rd#5 Michael Coe

    Rd#7 Keyunta Dawson

    Polian at his finest.

  2. 1. Peyton Manning

If anyone picks anyone else your completely delusional. End thread :goat:

I didn't know you could be delusional about who your favorite players are.

I know this might come as a surprise to you, but there are alot of us who were Colt fans long before 1998, and some of us may have actually taken a liking to a player or 2 over the many years that we've been Colt fans more than we did Peyton Manning.

  3. This is round 3 of the Colts fan favorites brackett. John Mackey is the cinderella story, and Mathis is quietly moving his way up. Manning is the favorite to win, just like 2 years, but that year, Harrison took home the gold.

    Quarterfinals

    1. Peyton Manning

    vs

    9. Dwight Freeney

    12. Robert Mathis

    vs

    4. Reggie Wayne

    22. John Mackey

    vs

    3. Marvin Harrison

    7. Tony Dungy

    vs

    2. Johnny Unitas

  4. I referred to seeing an article I found very very interesting in a previous thread showing Kavell Connor was 2nd in run defeats behind Derrick Johnson in 2011 just giving up 2.1yrds per tackle per rush attempt and led the league with 13 run tackles for loss.

I finally came across the article again so here it is by Football Outsiders an the Stampede Blue did their own article referring to the same stat by football outsiders. I feel we have tackling machines in the middle with Connor and Angerer

    http://footballoutsi...12/2011-defeats

    http://mobile.stampe...s-running-plays

It's impossible for Kavell Conner to be a good run defender. He's only 6-0 242 lbs, instead of the ideal 6-1 250 lbs. Since he falls 1 inch and 8 pounds below what is ideal, it means he is undersized. Thus, it is impossible for such a small linebacker to be a good run defender.

  5. lol at all the Vanderjagt apologists in this thread.

That one kick that he missed in the playoffs (by about 20 yards in an f'ing indoor stadium) was more important than all of those meaningless, low pressure regular season field goals that he made when we were winning games by 2-3 touchdowns. There are dozens of kickers who would have made the same field goals that Vanderjagt made. He was a professional kicker, you know. No credit for doing what he is paid to do. Fact of the matter is the one time we truly needed him to make a kick, the one time he could have seperated himself and done something that not every other kicker can do, and the "most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL" completely crapped his pants.

None of this is to mention his chokejob in the 2000 playoffs against Miami, either. Or his chokejob against Tampa Bay in 2003 where he got bailed out by a bogus penalty. Or his chokejob against New England in 2004 on MNF.

And don't you people wonder why the most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL barely got a sniff after the Colts released him? It's because he was a proven choke artist with an attitude problem.

  7. That is the big point you are missing... Who cares what they did in college, Reitz has been in the NFL for 4 years, he has started games in the NFL at guard and did pretty well. Hicks could not convince teams as a two year starter in college that is a good enough player to be drafted.

Yeah, i'm still not grasping why I should take a guy who played guard in college but was not identified by any of the 32 NFL franchises as someone who should be drafted in any of the 7 rounds, and who has yet to play guard in the NFL, nor even make an NFL roster.....over a guy who HAS started at guard in the NFL.....only becuase the former played guard in college?

There's got to be several hundred guys who played guard in college last year. Should we take any of them over Reitz for no reason other than they played guard in college and he didn't?

  8. small college and poor footwork likely same reason Reitz wasnt that and their is the former basketball player thing, although we are still comparing apples to oranges considering Hicks actually has played Guard before he got to the NFL

Small college? Iowa State University from the Big 12 is a small college?

And I might be wrong here, but wasn't Reitz, being that he WAS a former bball player, brought into the NFL to be groomed on the practice squad to be an OL in large part BECAUSE of his excellent footwork?

  9. I think so. About like Mike Tepper was last year... PS until the injuries really piled up, then move to the active squad only to let people see why he was on the practice squad.

Well, I don't know about that (since big brother is watching) but I played offensive line for 8 years, coached offensive line (pop warner level) for another numerous years and one of the few people who purchase NFL game rewind just so I can watch the offensive line and grade out the players; and I don't see anything even from his highlights that would indicate he has the potential to be a day one starter.

But I could very well be wrong. It has happened, albeit rarely, in the past.

You mean besides the absolute demolition of nearly every defensive tackle or linebacker he touches, of course.

  10. Fortunately no other team in the NFL needed a guard that demolishes every DT and LB he comes in contact with.

Since you won't get an answer from the person to whom the question was posed; the best I can tell from his highlight reel is because he's a bit slow footed, once he's engaged he seems oblivious to what is going on around him and his mobility is poor because he keeps his feet too far apart. Judging, again only by the highlight reel, Hicks has some potential but he's a good year perhaps two from being able to provide consistent snaps.

    Good response.

Given what you said, I can only conclude that:

    1) Hicks seems to be a perfect practice squad type player

    2) Any projection that has Hicks penciled in as a starting guard game 1 of this season is patently absurd, and any person who makes said projection has a questionable at best football IQ

  11. Chapman should start over Mckinney if hes healthy, I dont even have Antonio Johnson on the team, other then depth I have no idea what purpose he serves, I would start Chapman Mckinney and Anunoby over him, I havent rewatched any of the games from last year except the first game vs Texans but Im not sold Reitz by a long shot, the left side of that line was terrible in that game at best, I would start Hayworth Hicks over Reitz, he absolutely demolishes nearly every defensive tackle or linebacker he touches

If this is true, then I just gotta ask.....why wasn't he drafted by anyone?

  12. Do you also wonder why we stuck with Curtis Painter for so long? Do you wonder why we released Justin Tryon and kept starting Jacob Lacey? Do you wonder why we benched Mike Pollak for Jeff Linkenbach in 2010?

The previous coaching staff and front office made a lot of, let's say ... curious decisions the past couple seasons. I'm assuming the new regime will be a little more upfront about their decision making.

As it pertains to Thomas, what matters is that, when he got on the field, he played reasonably well, particularly in man coverage, where he looked his best (and better than any other corner on the team).

lol.....I still can't believe that Bill Polian put us in position where we had no choice but to start Jacob freaking Lacey in numerous NFL games.

  13. Sounds like injury prone as well,Great 3rd round draft pick Polian

Polian was a real maestro with 3rd round picks: Green, Burlesworth, Bird, Jefferson, Strickland, Gardner, Hartsock, Sweet Pea Burns, Hughes, Pitcock, Thomas.

  14. LOL...i've watched that incident many times over, he hardly 'hid' behind his teammates. His teammates pushed him off the field, then he started to go after the fans who were heckling him near the exits (which is what really got him suspended). Regardless, the guy Blount hit should have stuck to running his mouth and kept his hands off Blount since it was obvious he was all talk...

Exactly what I was going to say. After he dropped that dude like a bag of dirt, I don't remember Blount "hiding" behind anyone.

  15. Mine was a lapse of memory pertaining to something I read. I have no problem saying I was wrong there. Yours is a little different , when you say "I don't agree with that either" and then younspit out some numbers that make zero sense. Bottom line is that the Colts do have more holes than the average NFL team. Everbody is NOT in the same shape. There doesnt have to be the "old 49ers or the old cowboys " for that to be true. If you agree with that poster , how bout you and I laying a few bets on the SB winner. You get the Colts and I'll take GB or NE ? Or why will the betting line for the over and under in wins be 10 for some teams and probably 5 for the Colts. Because "everybody is in the same boat ?"

coffeedrinker already pointed out the fallacy in your respones, but just to reitterate.....nowhere did I EVER say every team was of the same talent level.

You've made a very large, very ridiculous, and very inaccurate leap.
