  1. First it sounds like your just trying to get a rise from a Texans fan mixing some truths with some embellishments (such as the Texans are old and broken down)

As I stated before, their top 3 weapons all missed multiple games last year due to injury. I challenged anyone to tell me how many quarters they played together over the course of the entire season, and of course nobody wanted to do that. Schaub, in particular, is coming off a very serious foot injury, which he may not even be fully recovered from at the start of the season, and has played a full season 2 times in 5 seasons for the Texans. You may not consider that being broke down. I certainly do

you can spin it however you want it really because the fact is while the Colts were struggling to win two games with a veteran quarterback the Texans were winning with no Andre Johnson with their 3rd string quarterback

What does the Colts performance last have anything whatsoever to do with my prognostication for the Texans next year?

who happened to be a rookie against defenses such as the Bengals, Falcons and Jaguars defenses all very good defenses and they also won in a blow out against the in the first round of playoffs against the Bengals who also look to be an up and coming team

That's great how they did last year, with last years players against last years schedule. As for 2012, I see them going 7-9.

  2. First and foremost KarlKuffs, My # 1 NFL team allegiance is to the Indianapolis Colts and I live in Cheese Head Country and I happen to take a lot of grief over that personally. Second of all, is there an unwritten rule that I am unaware of that states a person can only follow 1 NFL team all season long? Third, did I ever project how many wins that squad would attain? That's news to me because I never proclaimed any winning percentage ever. What do you eat for breakfast that allows you to read peoples minds? I need to purchase that item at the grocery store then. Is the product expensive? Sorry, I could resist that joke. Just Kidding!!!

Matt Schaub's agility does not apply in terms of running speed like Michael Vick, it is more like Tom Brady who slides or shuffles his feet to manipulate the pocket. Laugh at me to your heart's content if that boosts your morale and makes you feel better sir. It's no skin of my teeth. I can assure of that. Have a nice day Karlkuffs. It's been "educational" no doubt.

Every single thing I said applies to Texan fans, regardless of who you're allegiance is. Although one wonders why you would make such a bizarre response if you weren't a Texan fan, but I digress.

And you using "agile" and "Matt Schaub" in the same sentence makes me wonder if you've ever watched football in your life.

  3. The Saints had never won a Super Bowl until recent years...And who did they face again? They were slowly on the rise in a division dominated by other teams, just like we were. Things change in time, we cannot base a team's future results just simply on how they performed in the past.

Exactly. Which is why my prediction of a 7-9 record is just as likely as your prediction of 11-5. Because things change from year to year. Schedules change, players change, schemes change, attitudes change, health issues change, coaches change......every single year. Parity rules in the NFL. That's been proven over and over again. Still not convinced? Look at the "expert" predictions preseason last year, then look at how things actually turned out.

Thank you for demonstrating the point i've been trying to make for going on 5 pages now, though. It's been exhausting.

  4. Sigh. This is getting old. I feel as threatened by the Colts as an elephant is by a termite. The second-easiest schedule bologna has already been addressed several times...We had injuries and a fifth-round rookie quarterback at the helm. This thread is about our potential, not our horrible, highly unlikely demise in the AFC...considering we nearly made it to the Championship Game last year.

What is "bologna" about it? It's a fact: you had a very, very easy schedule last year which made wins easier to come by. Pretty simple concept.

And who is predicting a demise? I'm predicting you'll go from 10 wins to 7 wins. Hardly unrealistic and certainly not a "demise".

  5. Southwest is actually a Colts fan....There goes the basis of your argument right there. 11 games? Are you kidding me? Our schedule looks even easier than it did last year...considering what we did last season, with plenty of nerve-wracking injuries, it is just asinine to assume that we will do worse with all of our healthy starters and very capable draft picks and free agents. We will play hard and well like we always do...And it will be much better than the effort the Colts gave in this past 2-14 season. And Matt doesn't have to be agile...He has a line, unlike Luck. We will see just how fast and agile Luck is this coming season when he is running for his life.

Why are you so threatened by the Colts?

This thread has nothing to do with them, yet you feel the need to interject them into every response.

You had the second easiest schedule in the league last year. This year's is much harder for you, with numerous teams that can and probably will beat you. Stop being so silly......you'll finish around 7-9, per usual.

  6. Wade Phillips remolded the Texans defense into a well oiled machine. RB Foster is a ground game beast with great vision, speed, & who hits the hole without hesitation. QB Matt Schabb is agile, slides well in the pocket, surveys the field quickly, & makes good decisions with the ball. Health is this squad's biggest liability IMO.

I don't see Green Bay in New Orleans this year. I see the Texans & 49ers myself. Green Bay still has offensive line issues. Yes, Jeff Saturday is there & the draft addressed a few of these issues for Aaron Rodger's squad, but I don't think it will gel this year to make the SB. It is time for the Texans to rise up & take the Lombardi Trophy by force NOW!!! The coaching staff is solid, the chemistry is concrete, & the ground & ariel attack are ready to shine.

    JUST DO IT Texans!!!

I can't believe I missed this before. This is a prototype Texan fanboy for you, ladies and gentlemen. These guys don't realize that there is an incredibly fine line between winning and losing in the NFL. Especially going from one year to the next. They really think that due to last years moderate success, all they have to do is show up next year and they will have double digit wins. They are completely ignorant to the fact that there are probably 11 games on their 2012 schedule where their opponent has a legitimate shot at beating them & the Texans are going to have to play very well to win those games. Their fans seem to think they are entitled to 11 wins or something. Doesn't work that way, unfortunately.

My favorite part of this gem of a post was when he said that Matt Schaub is "agile". lololol.....Matt Schaub is about as agile as an iceberg.

  7. 1. Our #1 or #2 ranked defense and Brian Cushing vs Blaine Gabbert and Maurice Jones-Drew. Jones-Drew is good, but he can't carry the team by himself. Justin Blackmon is a talent, but he will probably be blanketed all game by Johnathan Joseph.

    2. Denver is not all high and mighty anymore. Just because Peyton is there doesn't mean they are guaranteed success. Their offense is predictable, they will still be very run heavy, and Manning will have to rely on the play action for deep completions, which probably isn't going to happen as our defensive line will be in the backfield all day.

    3. The Green Bay loss is understandable, but I still think that we have what it takes to pull it off.

    4. Suggs is out and that secondary is not getting any younger. Yes, Reed got us last time we played, but he was facing a third-string rookie quarterback, who would have won the game if not for the one fumble by Jacoby Jones.

    5. The Bears are scary but they can be beaten. I honestly can see a Texans-Bears Super Bowl, since we are very similar teams i.e. great defense, a good quarterback who is not talked about much, etc. But their horrible offensive line will cost them this game...This is definitely a game that Jay Cutler is circling on the schedule to wear his best cleats for.

    6. The Lions are okay but I am not sold out on them yet. Their defense will be ready but so will ours. Their running game isn't something to brag about, either.

    7. Either old Hasselbeck or inexperienced Jake Locker. I'm taking the Texans for this one.

    8. The New England game will be interesting, as it could have major impact on who will be getting that first seed. But I don't see their defense being able to stop Foster or Andre Johnson.

    9. The loss to the Colts is likely only because of tradition and the possibility of us resting our starters. Other than that, I can still foresee a win.

Guess you're going 16-0 next year.

  8. When dealing with children you must act childish. If you weren't being sour and immature about the possibility that the Texans might actually be something good, then maybe I could have a mature conversation with you.

You see my game-by-game prognostication above for the Texans. Why don't you "maturely" tell me why i'm so out of line on any of the games that I predicted the Texans will lose next year?

  9. And we will still be in the playoffs, and probably at the Super Bowl, while you will be at home watching us and drinking your red and blue Kool-Aid...lol

Being that there are 31 other teams, none of whom you have any clue of how good they will actually be in 2012 (just like you don't the Texans), odds are very overwhelming that the Texans probably won't "be at the Super Bowl".

  10. When the concerns that you are presenting aren't very concerning, that's where the problem starts. I don't like what I'm "hearing" because it is just small things blown up by a disgruntled Colts fan.

Clearly they aren't concerning and clearly they are small things that are "blown up". That's why you continue to respond to me and make childish, nonsensical statements such as: "We will win at least 11 games. Now there's a fact for you."

  11. And now we have a complete breakdown, LOL. You see, it didn't take long before you revealed your true colors...you're just a Texan hater. How small of you, sir.

Yeah, my "True Colors" are that I think the Texans will go around 7-9 for the legitimate reasons that I already described earlier in this thread. Sorry if that confilcts with what you think or hope will happen. I think the Jets will win about 5 games, so I guess i'm a "hater" of them, too.

  12. Texans Schedule

Week 1 vs Miami Win (let the game of musical quarterbacks begin)

Week 2 @ Jacksonville Win (will be close)

Week 3 @ Denver Win (not sold on Denvers O Line)

Week 4 vs Titans Win (wonder if Locker will be the starting QB by that game)

Week 5 @ Jets Win (they are a mess, see week 1 statement)

Week 6 vs Green Bay Win (Green Bay lost some key pieces)

Week 7 vs Baltimore Loss (Ravens lost Suggs but they gained Upshaw)

Week 8 vs Buffalo Win (Bills getting better at least on paper but they aren't there yet)

Week 9 @ Bears Loss (Cutler actually has a weapon now, Marshall is a huge addition plus Forte at this point just may be showing his talents for a team to pick him up next year

Week 10 vs Jaguars Win (Show me you have what it takes Gabbert)

Week 11 @ Lions Loss (Lions improved secondary combined with already stout defensive line will play a key role)

Week 12 @ Titans Win (while Chris Johnson is a stud running back it appears to me he shows up when he wants to only)

Week 13 @ New England Loss (a healthy Gronk plus Brady means trouble for any team let alone a rookie linebacker)

Week 14 vs Colts Win (to many pieces still learning, suspect offensive line for the Colts and rookie Quarterback)

Week 15 vs Minnesota Win (Will Ponder improve from last year)

Week 16 @ Colts Loss (got to keep the streak going somehow)

Texans wish it was 2011 again and they had the 2nd easiest schedule in the NFL, cause it will be tough sledding in 2012.

  13. And despite those injuries and a ridiculously short offseason, we still rose to the challenge, went to the playoffs, and had the best, at one point second-best, defense in the league. People had plenty tape of Pagano's defense in Baltimore too, and look where they still are...And Wade is better than him by the way. Look at our schedule now buddy and most will agree with me...We will win at least 11 games. Now there's a fact for you.

You will win no more than 7 games. Now there's a fact for you.

  14. It doesn't bother me really, I just stick up for my team...but don't act like your opinions are based on any sort of facts...they're just your opinions.

Fact: You're top 3 offensive players all missed multiple games last year due to injury. Why don't you tell us the exact number of quarters that those 3 played together last year, just to hammer this point home?

Fact: You lost 2 starters off of your offensive line.

Fact: There is more film out there of a Wade Phillips coached Texan defense than there was at this time last year.

Fact: You played the 2nd easiest schedule in the league last year.

My opinion, based on the above facts: The Texans will win between 5-8 games next year.....like they usually do.

    Good Night.

  15. Alright buddy, well call the NFL, because the definition of "offense" has been changed to maybe two guys who have had injury problems. According to you, anyway.

And that "wuss" comment is flat out dumb.

I'd love to hear your comments on the current Colts team...for some reason I feel like it'd be a little bit brighter than your comments towards a team that many say is one of the best in the AFC. Just a hunch.

Feel free to access the Colts forum. My comments on the Colts team are all over the place. Not that it has anything whatsoever to do with this thread. But, knock yourself out and read all you want. They are certainly over there.

If you're so confident about how good the Texans will be next year, and it's such a consensus that they'll be good, why does it bother you so much that I think they'll finish with their usual 6 or 7 wins next year?

  16. Not even close.

They won't be playing against the second easiest schedule in the league and sneaking up on people this season.

Their offense is old & broke down, and they lost key players along the o-line. Matt Schaub was already the slowest footed QB in the league, and he now has a severe foot injury to recover from. Not to mention he's a complete wuss who freezes up anytime he faces even the slightest bit of pressure.

The rest of the league now has plenty of film to adjust to Wade Phillips defense.

Last year was handed to them on a silver platter, and they still only managed to win the division by one game.

  17. Are you saying them professionals are always right? not saying that they arent or not saying I am right obviously Im no professional, but given our lack of talent at Corner he is one I would have kept. Not to mention our potential #2 Corner Thomas is often injured

I'm saying they are much more likely to be right than you are.

I'm also saying that if they decided to cut some undrafted free agent in May, then chances are overwhelming that said undrafted free agent will never play one second of NFL regular season football.

  18. He didn't need to block him period..if he would have recognized earlier he could have blocked Scott but that wasn't my point. To me it was a pointless block that blew up a tiny defensive back and he was getting praise for it. That was my only real point. I would never say block a guy in the back thats just foolish...all I was implying is he could have blocked Scott after he turned around just as easily...more importantly he could have continued on his block or continued down field...instead he targets Leonard who is totally out of position to make a play and blocked him. Really he has done a good job blocking but this video was pointless to me.

Yeah, that I can agree with. I really don't see how a video of one isolated play where he blocks a much smaller man demonstrates at all that Satale is some sort of future superstar.

I'd rather see a string of plays where he's opening up huge holes for runningbacks and/or protecting his qb from an inside pass rush.

  19. Unimpressed. So like a 330 lb guy gets a cheap shot on a 230lb defensive back....oooohhh now I know he is good. Why didn't he hit Bart Scott who was much bigger and closer to the ball?? lol

I do feel he will be a solid contributor but superstar...thats a huge stretch.

Agree for the most part, except:

    1) I fail to see how a textbook, legal block could ever be construed as a "cheap shot"

    and

    2) Your suggesting that he should have choosen to illegally block Bart Scott instead of the guy he legally blocked because Bart Scott is bigger, thereby resulting in a 10 yard penalty, makes very little sense to me.
