The roasting the Patriots are getting is worse

i hope so because we had 3 major coaches in our facility that McDaniels didn't even bother to call.  Talk about arrogant and unbecoming behavior.  Kraft should be taking some heat for this underhanded move.  I was basking in glory watching the younger Kraft holding his head down in disbelief after they lost.  I couldn't understand why I felt that way, but now I do.

I see your point, but I will feel badly for those families if that's the course we take. I just think that Ballard will want to ensure those jobs for the coaches who made an agreement in good faith.

but it's a disjointed situation at best.  A head coach wants to have control over he coaching staff... it's just a bad thing waiting to happen.  Maybe just pay them for their contracts and make Boston pay for it, then let them go.

Maybe not from Mcdaniels, but i think Kraft had this planned out from the beginning and probably was never truly worried about him leaving. He let this thing go as far it could go before finally stepping in and "sweeting" a deal to keep him.  I seen a report somewhere that McDaniels indicated that if the Pats had presented this opportunity earlier he wouldn't have pursued other jobs.  Kraft knew he was in serious talks all along with the Colts but waits until the night before to try and keep him?  This was Kraft sticking one to the Colts. Simple as that.  He let this thing go as along as it could knowing all along he was going to present him a deal he couldnt refuse.

yes, there is a "flagrant foul" odor coming from the direction of Boston.  Is the wind blowing in from the east today?

  4. I think it's career suicide in this sense, first he completely destroyed his credibility (likely).  Now he has to step in for the best NFL coach of all time in a town that will not accept losses.  Where before, he was taking over for Pagano and one of the worst records in football.  It would have been hard for him to screw up.  Maybe we were convincing ourselves that he was "it" even though we all had a bad taste in our mouths from the Denver situation.  This could be a God-send.

The early reports are saying that the Colts will keep them regardless of who the HC is. You're right though. Of course any decent HC will want to pick a staff. I'm not sure how this will turn out.

I don't see how it could turn out good.  Irsay and Ballard need to back out of ALL contracts with ANY assistants.....you can't force coaches on your new head coach....that's no different than Ballard having to put up with Pagano for a year of cringe-worthy football because Irsay made him.  This is a disaster.

All the how great of an owner and guy Kraft is...if that is proven somehow then well I got nothing nice to say right now and maybe ever about what a stand up owner and guy this is.

I don't think they broke any rules (ha ha)

IMO we weren’t made fun a jester stayed in clown college

I'm still trying to soak the events of this evening in.  Excitement to complete dismay.  It's more embarrassing than it is anything (for the Colts org..--- they hit a home-run, then blue tells you it hit the foul-pole.

BREAKING: Statement from the Indianapolis Colts....

"After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts’ new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels this evening informed us that he would not be joining our team. Although we are surprised and disappointed, we will resume our head coaching search immediately and find the right fit to lead our team and organization on and off the field.

The scheduled press conference at Lucas Oil Stadium will not take place tomorrow. More information will be forthcoming."

OMG I've never heard of such a situation, agree to terms same day you pull out?  Next time they will wait until the new coach is at 56th street for a month before announcing it.  I guess we have to get ready for the 2nd fiddle (TAUB).  I wonder if this was a ploy to make the Colts look bad, after all, it is New England we are talking about here.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Don't want another Monachino. :)

Can't get parallel hires or retreads across the board, will give the benefit of doubt for at least 2 years, good enough for most DCs to coach up draft picks and players to a good level of understanding of the system desired.

There will be a day when everyone doesn't think that ANY defensive coach working for the ravens is a defensive genius.

  10. Hard to believe the state trooper ran over the already hit body in the middle of I-70.  It would be good to know what actually happened to put closure to this.  Such a great person and player from all accounts. His family, I'm sure, would like to know.

  11. we have a backup QB.  1st things 1st

    1) Andrew needs to throw and see if he can talk his bloodstream into providing sustenance to his depleted shoulder.

    2) Andrew's bloodstream has to accept the sales-pitch via #1

    3) Andrew's shoulder needs to meet with said bloodstream for adjudication

    4) Andrew needs to throw hard

If this doesn't happen before the draft, then we have to address that April 26th in Arlington.

It's just what he does, he bases his articles and opinions on his unwarranted perception of people. He hates Josh McDaniels before he's even coached a game here, he proclaimed Archie Miller a slam dunk fantastic coach before he even coached a game at IU. His writing is just way too subjective, I don't get why the paper puts up with it.

win lose or draw, i think mcdaniels is going to be given 5 years.  i hope it's a productive 5 years.
